Go Slow to Go Fast! 💨 Z2 means slow and steady, holding back the speed to control the heart rate. The pace could be different for every runner.The main goal of Z2 is to train the mitochondria of the slow twitch muscles to generate more ATP which is the energy currency of the muscles. At this exercise intensity, you get to improve your aerobic base and increase lactate clearance capacity thus being more efficient and effective in maintaining a faster pace for a longer period of time.
