ICP Meycauayan men's 3x3 team pounded their counterparts from Marymount Professional Colleges with a decisive scoreboard of 8-6. Meanwhile, in the second round, ICP's guns outscore Trinitas College in their home court in an exhilarating match ending with a tally of 17-10, in favor of the ICONs. After the unbreakable streak, our campus' 3x3 pride will advance to the championship round in a chance to clutch the first gold medal of ICP Meycauayan in MeyCiPriSa Sports Meet.

𝘚𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘵 𝘢𝘵𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯

The Chocolate Hills are a unique geological formation process among geologists situated in the province of Bohol in the southern part of our country and these natural structures are considered to be one of the Philippines' primary habitat to a diverse range of plant and animal species, including endemic flora and fauna that are unique to the region such as the Philippine Tarsier (𝘊𝘢𝘳𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘺𝘳𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘵𝘢).

These natural marvels were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in recognition of their outstanding universal value as a geological formation and their importance for biodiversity conservation and is one of the tourist spots in the country that entered the list alongside Vigan, Banaue Rice Terraces, Tubbataha Reef, so on and so forth. It was also a state-protected area and building any man-made infrastructure is forbidden.

However , in the recent week, local netizens were enraged by viral images and videos of a resort in the protected area". Locals said that the resort should be closed or dismantled because it can lead to loss of biodiversity and disruption of ecosystems in the area surrounding the Chocolate Hills.

Senator Maria Lourdes "Nancy" Binay was spoken to in the particular issue last March 13th. The statement disclosed that the resort has been issued a temporary closure order since September 6, 2023, and a notice of violation to the project proponent by January 22nd, because of operating without an Environment Compliance Certificate (ECC) for the project. The resort in the area has already applied for an ECC but its application is still pending amongst the ranks of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) currently led by its current Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Gonzaga.

Senator Binay furthered lambasted the resort's presence in the area quote, "Why does DENR permit the local resort even if it is illegal?"

Meanwhile, DENR dropped a halt to the construction of structures at the geological park (geopark) and the resort is not "accredited to tourism establishment".

Subsequent to this issue, the government should further strengthen its monitoring and enforcement mechanisms to ensure businesses compliance with environmental regulations and standards, and to address any adverse impacts on the environment promptly to avoid businesses from constructing any infrastructure projects near any historical and natural hotspots throughout the nation thus, averting any chances of this kind of issue from happening again not just in the Chocolate Hills but also to other state-protected marine and land areas to ensure the protection of our endemic species and their habitat. Moreover, people should be sensitive and vigilant to our natural and historical heritage that has a great impact to our beloving environment and to our culture as Filipinos.

May this issue served us a valuable lesson about our own disfunction as a society as it clearly portrays that in exchange of profit and promises of development, some corrupt officials in the ranks are willing to sacrifice our environment and let it be mowed down by capitalistic interests of some businesses. Currently, it's still unclear who owned the controversial resort in the Chocolate Hills, but one thing is for certain, that person's greed and overextended ambitions undermined his humanity and morality. May the youth see this as a call for our action to stop corporate greed in targeting our natural treasures and avoid them to become the next sweet attractions for destruction, as sweet as the Chocolate hue of the Chocolate Hills.

With the convenience the advancement of technology brings to the table for people comes the possibility for many students like the ICONs to fall prey to the unseen predator. To those oblivious of what it is, the sitting disease is a recent phenomenon wherein people do not partake in a physical and active lifestyle and instead excessively do most activities while sitting. The youth, students in particular, are more prone to this due to many factors. The primary reason for this phenomenon is the fact that many errands can now be done through devices. Another factor may be the higher tendency for the youth to fall into game and phone addiction with their prolonged exposure to their phones. Because of the general lifestyle most students have, many unknowingly develop this sedentary lifestyle, and while it may look harmless on the surface, there are various long-term effects that could be detrimental.

One of the major effects of the sitting disease concerns the issues to students' physical health. To give a few examples, muscular atrophy, poor posture, and increased risk of obesity are common outcomes of sitting disease. The increased risk in musculoskeletal disorders like carpal tunnel syndrome can significantly impair students' quality of life, especially as they age. Additionally, the lack of physical activity can impede the body's proper circulation and can lead to higher likelihood of cardiovascular problems and chronic conditions like hypertension. When a particular thing affects people's physical health, it also consequently extends to their mental well-being.

Physical inactivity has long been proven to affect mental well-being, and coupled with pressures in an academic environment, it can only lead to students to having heightened levels of stress and anxiety, sleep deprivation, and the exacerbation of already-existing mental health issues. These also may eventually hinder not only their personal health but also their academic performance as the previously mentioned effects also negatively bleed into students' energy, motivation, concentration, and other cognitive abilities.

In conclusion, the recent prevalence of the sitting disease among students poses significant challenges to their overall well-being. The detrimental effects of prolonged sitting extend beyond physical health and bleed into other aspects of students' life like their academic performance. Approaching and attempting to resolve this issue requires the proper encouragement and promotion of an active lifestyle with persistent and perceivable ex*****on. By prioritizing a better lifestyle, students will be able to become more resilient.

Ang sipnayan, o matematika, ay madalas na itinuturing na isang komplikadong asignatura. Ito’y umiikot lamang daw sa mga numero, walang katapusang kalkulasyon, at tila’y sakit sa ulo ang mga operasyon. Ngunit sa kabilang banda, Ito ay maaaring magdulot ng kasiyahan, pagdiskubre ng mga bagong kaalaman, at paghubog sa pagiging sa matalinong pag-iisip ng bawat isa.

Sa ika-14 ng Marso, ipinagdiriwang natin ang araw ng sipnayan, ito ay may temang “Playing with Math”. Layunin nitong bigyang halaga ang kasiyahan na dulot ng Matematika. Mula sa mga simpleng laro na humahasa sa ating isipan tulad ng sudoku puzzle, hanggang sa mga laro na nagpapalakas sa ating estratehiya tulad ng chess at deck of cards. Kasama rin dito ang mga laro na may kinalaman sa mga numero tulad ng bingo, uno, at dice rolling.

Ang mga larong ito ay hindi lamang para sa libangan, ngunit sa pamamagitan din ng mga ito ay nagagawa nating hubugin at ating matalinong pag-iisip sa pagsuri ng mga problema, paggawa ng mga lohikal na desisyon, at humahasa ang angking katalinuhan nang bawat Isa.

Ginugunita rin sa araw ng Matematika ang kahalagahang nito sa ating pang-araw-araw na buhay. Sa bawat hakbang na ating ginagawa mula sa paggising sa umaga hanggang sa pagtulog sa gabi, Ang Matematika ay ating kasama. Mula sa pagsusukat ng mga kasangkapan ng mga pagakaing ating ihahain sa hapag, pagbabadyet ng mga gastusin, pagbibilang, at simpleng pagtingin sa orasan upang alamin kung anong oras na.

Ang araw ng Matematika ay hindi lamang isang pagdiriwang upang gunitain ang mga numero, komplikadong operasyon, at walang katapusang mga kalkulasyon. Ngunit sa araw na ito, binibigyang halaga rin ang kasiyahang idinudulot ng Matematika sa araw-araw. Ito rin ay isang pagkakataon upang gunitain ang mga solsyong dulot ng Matematika sa araw-araw na ating kinakaharap ang mga komplikadong problema. Ang Matematika ay hindi lamang dapat natin kilalanin bilang isang komplikadong asignatura, bagkus, ito ay isang instrumentong nagdudulot sa ating ng kasiyahan at humahasa sa matalino nating isipan.

"Prevention is better than cure." Ang katagang tumatatak sa atin na nagsasabing ang pag-iwas ay higit na mabisa kaysa lunas. Mahirap nang ibalik ang nakaraang winasak na ng panahon, gaya ng sunog na nagdulot na ng pinsala't pagkawala. Ang sunog ay maituturing nating kalaban na anumang oras ay maaaring umatake. Kung kaya't ang isa't isa ang magsisilbi nating kakampi, sapagkat namamalagi sa atin ang diwa ng bayanihan, pagtutulungan, at pagmamalasakit.

Ano-ano at sino-sino ang tumutulong upang maiwasan ang sunog? Una, itinalaga ang buwan ng marso bilang "Fire Prevention Month", dito isinasagawa ang pagpapalaganap ng kaalaman at kasanayan hinggil sa kung paano natin mapipigilan ang pagkakaroon ng sunog. Ikalawa, ang Bureau of Fire Protection o BFP ay naglulunsad ng mga aktibidad at programa sa bansa na tumutulong sa mga mamamayan para malaman ang dapat at hindi dapat gawin sa panahon ng sunog. Anumang oras, saan ka man naroroon, isang tawag mo lang sila'y agad na tutugon. Ikatlo, nariyan din ang ating mga paaralan upang magturo at bigyan tayo ng gabay gaya ng pagsasagawa ng "Fire Drill" at mga "Programs and Advocacy." Ikaapat, mayroon tayong pamahalaan at mga opisyal ng barangay na handang umaksyon at magbigay tulong, maging pisikal, pinansyal o kung ano man. At ikalima, ang ating pamilya at mga kapit-bahay na nananatiling bukas ang puso't isipan para sa'tin.

Ano ang tatlong K (K*K) sa pag-iwas sa sunog? Ang mga ito ay tumatayo bilang Komunikasyon, Kooperasyon, at Koordinasyon. Komunikasyon, magagawa mong maiparating at agad na maikalat ang balita kung sakaling magkaroon man ng sunog. Halimbawa, mabilis na naapula ang apoy dahil agad itong natugunan ng mga bumbero at mamamayan. Kooperasyon, "Matibay ang walis, palibhasa'y magkabigkis", ika nga. Ako, ikaw, tayo, malaki ang magagawa natin upang pigilan ang pagkalat ng sunog at mapanatili ang kaligtasan ng mga buhay. Halimbawa, ika'y tumulong sa pagpatay ng apoy at pagligtas sa biktima ng sunog. At Koordinasyon, tinutukoy dito ang paggana ng ating mga pandama na siyang dahilan upang maging alerto tayo sa paligid. Halimbawa, nakita mong umuusok ang isang bahay kaya't agad mo itong ipinagbigay alam. Ang K*K (Komunikasyon, Kooperasyon, at Koordinasyon) ay nararapat nating tandaan, isapuso at isabuhay upang kahit dumating man ang sunog na ating kalaban ay makakaya natin itong mapagtulong-tulungan.

Sa huli, pagkakaisa ang tanging sasagip sa atin mula sa panganib na hatid ng sunog. Nakasalalay sa'ting mga kamay ang buhay natin ganun din ng kapwa Pilipino. Halika't kapit-bisig natin itong labanan at pagtagumpayan sapagkat sa pag-iwas sa sunog ay may kasama, karamay, at katuwang ka. Puksain natin ang pagsiklab ng apoy kasabay ng pag-alab at pagsiklab ng pagtutulungan, tayo'y sama-sama at walang maiiwan. Ikaw, ano-ano ang kaya mong gawin alang-alang sa kaligtasan mo at ng iyong kapwa?

As the most sacred month in the Islamic calendar commenced, The Muslim community came together in unity to honor the beginning of Ramadan. This event is not solely about refraining from food and drink; it is also about getting free from all forms of immoral actions, thoughts, and words.

Embracing a month dedicated to choosing goodness and peace. During Ramadan, Muslims empowers compassion and empathy towards others. Fasting is a form of spiritual discipline for Muslims and a means to empathize with those less fortunate, thus, allowing them to empathize with their siblings who experience hunger and deprivation. Muslims strive to alleviate the suffering of others and fulfill their duty to support those in need.

Aside from fasting, Muslims engage themselves in prayer, especially at night, and the recitation of the Quran. These prayers are not only a form of worship but also a means of seeking closeness to Allah and fostering a deeper spiritual connection.Ramadan goes beyond abstinence from food and drink; it serves as an opportunity for Muslims to purify their hearts, minds, and souls.

Through acts of compassion, empathy, and devotion, Ramadan becomes a time of spiritual renewal and growth, hence, building deeper connection with each other.

"What.. What am I?" I woke up to a world where I was deceived and manipulated into thinking I was weak. I was insulted and dragged around by men and taught that I can never receive proper education. "You can't go to school!" "You can't vote!" "Stay at home and cook!" "Serve your husband!" they said, "You are just, a woman!" I was powerless.. There I fell...

I waited. Waited for a hero with a red cape, a prince with a sharp sword, or a knight in shining armor to come save me from this hellish nightmare. But then.. I met her. My light, my sun, she reached her hand to grab me and I heard her voice calling out to me, she shouted, "Stand up and fight!" And I did.

I ran, ran to her and grabbed the hand she extended for me to hold onto. Finally reaching it, I found myself in a paradise where I wasn't the only one. There were many. Many of us craving the equality and justice we deserve. For the first time my voice was heard. I was seen, I was heard and my opinions weren't discarded. I was confident! There I realized that I didn't need a hero, a prince or a knight but rather, a sword I could swing and protect myself with.

I grabbed my armor and swung my sword and defeated the enemies. Together, we fought the great war and reached our goals as we traveled to a destination of freedom and acceptance. It was a path which we have chose to defend our rights. We were eager to finally find the validation we deserved.

Hand in hand we swam through the deepest oceans, we climbed through the highest mountains and faced difficulties head on, tired, hungry, and thirsty we didn't give up! And as we finally reached the top of that high mountain we placed a flag with writing from our blood, sweat and tears answering that question with, "I AM A WOMAN."

Today we celebrate women's month as a prize for the difficulties we have faced from the war for our freedom, acceptance and the right that was denied from us. And now we spread positivity within one another empowering our fellow women in this generation and more to come.

MEYCAUAYAN CITY, Philippines - Last Tuesday night, March 5, social media giant Facebook has suddenly went out of service for tens of minutes and caused panic and confusion to thousands of its users in the Philippines.

Following the outage, downdetector.ph revealed that there are atleast 86,000 outage reports in the social media platform alone as of 11:24 p.m.

Users experienced login, app, and messaging issues on both the Facebook app and its message carrier, Facebook Messenger.

Outage disables Lawiswis Publication, ICONs

During the outage, Lawiswis Publication, Immaculate Conception Polytechnic Education Meycauayan's school publication, also experienced the havoc of the recent outage as its page went out for almost an hour and was only restored by March 6, at exactly 12:00 a.m.

Meanwhile, several ICONs found themselves posting regarding the incident as memes regarding the recent outage started to float around the social media platform.

𝘐𝘊𝘗𝘔𝘠'𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳 𝘲-𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘐𝘊𝘖𝘕𝘴' 𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘯𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘺

ICP MEYCAUAYAN - ICONs vie for honor and glory as students exhibited astonishing intelligence in the recent Math, Science, English, and Filipino quiz bee competitions (q-bouts) organized by Immaculate Conception Polytechnic Education Meycauayan (ICPMY) last Friday in the first day of March 2024.

Prior to the recent bouts, the world of artistic learning was opened to ICONs in the two-day 'Learn, Discover, and Explore' exhibit last February 28 and 29.

The contest doors opened at exactly 8:30 a.m. at room 101 with Mathematics Quiz Bee being kickstarted as the premiere of the event, with a total of 11 participants from all strands of Grade 11 and Grade 12.

After a mind-boggling and intense battle of the campus' math geeks, the winners were ranked according to their total scores in easy, average, and difficult rounds as the strand of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics unleashed all-out skills by achieving a clean finish in the medal tally as Mhyca Angela Mangulabnan of STEM 11-2 Citrine achieved the third spot ; Cyruz Eury Cañon of STEM 11-4 Appatite landed at second place while Karylle Pimentel of STEM 11-1 Garnet closed the competition as the champion.

Soon after, at exactly 9:45 a.m., ICONs lined up to represent their section in the next competition of the event, the Science Quiz Bee ; the contest received the most participants during the event as 18 students from different sections of the campus vied to get a shot of glory on the quiz bout.

Meanwhile, after an hour of heavy battle of ICONs' genius, the winners were finally announced and awarded ; Desyrie Ala of STEM 11-4 Appatite ended at third place while Johnrendell Esguerra from HUMSS 11-4 Tanzanite achieved a second finish as Lyndsay Esteves secured the first championship for HRCTO as she is from the section of HRCTO 11-2 Morganite.

As the Science Quiz Bee closed successfully by 10:45 a. m., a lunch break was initiated and the competitions of the event continued by 1:00 p.m.

At exactly 1:00 p.m., 13 representatives of various sections at ICPMY broke into room 101 to get an admission to the next competition, the English Quiz Bee.

Moreover, this competition was made more intense by its unique topic as the quiz bee was an interesting exhibition of spelling and comprehension skills as participants spelled more difficult words as each round passes through.

On top of that, three winners managed to dominate and achieve greatness in spelling and were awarded with a medal as Kyla Jane Tome of ICT 11-1 Sardonyx won the third spot ; Jeiah Alejandro of STEM 11-4 Appatite finished at second place, and Samantha Soliman of HUMSS 11-2 Beryl bagged the first place.

On the other hand, the final competition of the event, Filipino Quiz Bee, was commenced at exactly 2:15 p.m. with a total of 15 participants joining the quest for glory.

After an hour of a tricky skills exhibition with our national language, three winners gained the upper hand and achieved total victory as Adriane Nicole Del Mundo of STEM 11-4 Appatite landed at third place ; Princess Anne Santos of STEM 11-3 Amber notched the second spot while Rinehart Lucañas of HUMSS 11-2 Beryl triumphed at the top by grabbing the final championship of the event.

Furthermore, after concluding all the scheduled quiz bee competitions, at exactly 3:00 p.m., all sections who submitted their works in the recent 'Learn, Discover, Explore' exhibit were awarded with a certificate of participation to recognize their efforts and these awards were received by the representatives of these sections as it served as the final part to close the event successfully.

𝘐𝘊𝘗𝘔𝘠'𝘴 𝘓𝘋𝘌 𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘢𝘤𝘭𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘴 𝘐𝘊𝘖𝘕𝘴

ICP MEYCAUAYAN - Immaculate Conception Polytechnic Education Meycauayan's (ICPMY) recent 'Learn, Discover, Explore' (LDE) exhibit was commenced last February 28 and 29 and gained massive patronage and enthusiasm from ICONs as the booths in the exhibit educated and shocked them in awe at the same time by this great showcase of ICONs' creativity and ingenuity.

The recent LDE exhibit was a project of the campus' Mathematics, Science, English, and Filipino Departments, with educators of these branches actively partaking in facilitating and organizing the glorious event.

Subsequently, all sections from Grade 11 and 12 submitted their creative and innovative works related to Science, Mathematics, English, and Filipino subjects and became the highlighted wonders during the two-day exhibition.

Afterwards, the LDE spectacle started at exactly 9:00 a.m. last February 28 at room 101 and was managed by the following teachers ; Mr. Reymark Dacillo, Mr. Hernani Colomer, and Mr. Zyreel Angelo Liquiran managed the Mathematics-oriented exhibit booths while Ms. Georgi Dela Peña, Ms. Lorelyn Lupango, and Ms. Cherielyn Surio facilitated the Science booths of the event.

Meanwhile, Ms. Ivy Salome, Mr. Bryan Santos, with supervision of Mr. Hernani Colomer, managed the English booths during the exhibit as Ms. Angie Verian, Ms. Desiree Paraiso, Mr. Paulo Gatbonton, and Ms. Allysa Dela Cruz facilitated the ones related to Filipino and History.

As of the record, these are the booths during the exhibit which received massive attention and patronage from ICONs ; Color game, Snakes & Ladders, DNA model, Tongue Twister Booth, Oregano Tea Booth, Lawiswis Photobooth, Solar System Model, Roulette Wheel (Roleta), Marble Basketball, History and Products of Meycauayan Booth, Charger Bike, Paintings from various students of the campus.

Several organizations also took part in managing the massive event as Supreme Student Government, ICPMY Sipnayan Society and Lawiswis Publication put great efforts in keeping peace and order during the exhibit and also contributed a hit booth as Lawiswis Publication opened a free photo studio where anyone can take solo or group photos with their classmates and friends.

Moreover, some ICONs shared their opinions and feedback to the journalists of La Icona gazette of Lawiswis Publication regarding the recent event as Redlyn Pajarillo of HRCTO 11-2 Morganite uttered praises towards the LDE exhibit, "For exhibits, there's a lot of things you can discover about experiments or anything inside the room [101]. Based on my experience about the exhibit, there was a lot of fun, because of entertaining and educational games and experiments."

On the other hand, Marc Ysmael Caguioa of STEM 11-6 Tourmaline also gave positive remarks toward the event, "Ang saya! Ang daming magagandang gawa tas syempre natuwa rin kasi naka display yung tatlong gawa ng section namin and worth it yung pagod kasi maraming natuwa sa gawa naming "DNA", yun lang."

The advisers and ICONS that took part in this event had yet another amazing experience thanks to this exhibit, and due to their efforts this exhibit happened.

Muli nanamang nagpasiklab ng talento ang mga mag-aaral mula sa Immaculate Conception Polythecnic Education - Meycauayan Campus (ICPMY) nang pormal na sinimulan ang pinakaaabangang tatlong araw na pagsalubong sa ‘Intramurals 2024’ ng institusyon na ginanap sa Amolat Court, Lawa, Meycauayan City nitong makaraang Miyerkules, ikalabing-apat ng Pebrero 2024.

Bilang hudyat sa pagsisimula ng naturang programa, nagkaroon ng masiglang parada ang mga mag-aaral, mga g**o, mga tagapagsanay, at iba pang kawani ng paaralan na sinundan ng maikling seremonya.

Kasama sa pagtataguyod ng programa sina G. Reymark Dacillo at Bb. Julie Ann Victoriano na nagsilbing ‘𝘔𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘺’ katuwang ang mga 𝘧𝘢𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘺 𝘮𝘦𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘴.

Tampok sa nasabing programa ang simbolikong pagbibigay liwanag sa sulo ng mga kinatawan ng paaralan sa larangang isport na sina Justmine Vasquez ng ICT 11 - 2 Onyx; Jerimee Dela Cruz ng HRCTO 11 - 2 Morganite; Kevin Balorio, ICT 11-1 Sardonyx; at Johnrick Ticar ng STEM 11 - 6 Tourmaline na matatandaang nagbigay karangalan sa nasabing paaralan.
