Our kiddie chess champ turns into a lady today.

Looking back, Cyhrea Ruth brought pride and honor to Mati for winning numerous chess events. ASEAN and National Age-groups, Batang Pinoy, DAVRAA, Shell chess, just to name a few. Recently she graduated SHS at Far Eastern University with honors while continuing her chess career as a varsity player. Today we celebrate with Ruth as she continue her journey to college and chess in FEU. Enjoy your debut Ruth! Best wishes to you, your family, and your team!

In Chess we can! 1st 2 medals for Mati City scored by Chess Team in DAVRAA 2023.

Mati City clinches 1st gold via chess team

The City of Mati DAVRAA delegation clinched its first gold medal courtesy of the elementary chess team.

The tandem of Blessy Mabel Sagpang and Zainab Kabirun demolished their opponents on the first day of DAVRAA to win the chess blitz team competition.

Sagpang also clinched the bronze medal in the individual category of chess blitz.

As of April 24, Mati City has 1 gold and 1 bronze on the medal standing topped by Davao City with 19 golds, 9 silvers and 7 bronzes.
