A small business owner's life is definitely not boring. You probably spend your days wearing many hats, aside from being the executive, you're the handyman, member of the cleaning crew, marketing person, or customer relations expert. To be successful, you must be able to make the most of your time and work more efficiently.

And while we know that being your own boss has its perks—from the flexibility to work from anywhere to the ability to set your own schedule—it also comes with its challenges. You're stretched thin, overworked, and under-resourced.

So how do we do it? How do we get everything done—and stay sane in the process? I've got some tips for you:

🌻 Start by making a list of all the tasks that need to be done this week.

🌻Next, prioritize those tasks in order of importance so that the most important ones get done first.

🌻 Once you've got your priorities down, break them into smaller chunks so that each task comes off as less daunting or overwhelming. You can also use this time for planning out how long each task will take so that there are no surprises later on down the road when it comes time for completion!

🌻 Set aside some time every day (preferably early morning) where nothing else matters except for what's on your schedule for today! This is a great time for uninterrupted focus on getting things done without distractions or interruptions from others around you

Simplify your work life and reclaim precious time. It is up to you whether you use them to do more work or to spend time with your family.

You're essentially building on sand, which will crumble as soon as someone trips over it or something heavier than yourself cracks its surface, so instead of doing this run-of-the-mill thing, every person does when starting their own company...

There is a vast difference between an idea and a successful business. To turn your great idea into a successful business, you must do market research [a lot of it] to figure out if there's a market for your product, what people want from your product, and how much they're willing to pay for it...

💫 𝗪𝗵𝗼'𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁?

Knowing who's your ideal client and knowing exactly what they're interested in can make or break your business. You can't sell anything to anyone, but if you aim to build a successful business (and not just another hobby), knowing your ideal client is crucial.

Many entrepreneurs fall into the trap of seeing their business as a means to an end, but that's not how it should be. Your company and its products/services should serve a purpose, and making a difference is the only way you can achieve this.

Rather than going to Canva and start designing that logo or contacting a designer to create another logo for you, step back and reflect first on the destination you want for your business.

Here are some ways to explain WHY this happens - and it is NOT because you are not an expert at what you do.

When we're not focusing our attention on a particular aspect of our business, it is helpful to have someone come and shine a light on it. 💡😉

🙅‍ 𝗣𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 - Working hard isn’t wrong but you need to make sure you get enough sleep, exercise, time with family and friends, and enough downtime.

🙅‍ 𝗧𝗼𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗲'𝘀 𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 - We come to fear other people’s judgment, often because we make their judgments mean something about us in our minds. Sound familiar? Let me remind you of this.. “What other people think of you is none of your business.”

🙅‍ 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱 - Rather than sit and think about a problem for endless amounts of time, you can distract yourself for a bit. Get out of your desk and do something fun and relaxing. 🌸

🙅‍ 𝗜 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱, 𝗜 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱, 𝗜 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱. Most overwhelm and stuckness in business, and life starts with the word “should”. We put ourselves under a great deal of pressure when we tell ourselves that something must be done a certain way or that we must achieve certain things. It is helpful to know what you want and to work towards your goals, while also being aware of how realistic your goals are.

🙅‍ 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲.
A not clearly defined WHY can easily take you off track especially when you hit a rough patch. As a result, you get demotivated, stuck and uncertain of your next move.
This is why many businesses fail and close down.
When you clearly define the reason why your business exists it's much easier to find the strength to first survive and then thrive.

Hey! In case you're new here allow me to say Hi and introduce myself a little. My name is Jean and I am the face behind Pair With Jeany Branding & Designs. Currently, I am still working as Virtual Assistant/SMM for my long term clients and slowly transitioning into making this business full time. Time management is the KEY! Some of my friends who personally know me call me as Supermom! Lol. But again, it's very difficult. Only if I could turn back time, I wish I pursued freelancing and learn skill when I was still independent and free instead I spent most of my time hanging out with friends or doing things that didn't serve me well! But there's no point of regretting now. Hah! So some fun facts about me...

🌟I stress-eating! I tend to be very hungry when my mind is sooo busy and doing a lot of thinking.
🌟I love to travel. Gosh! I miss it sooo bad! Haven't been able to travel and stuck at home for the last 3 years. It sucks, I know.
🌟Don't look at me biting your shirt or any cloth. Just don't!

If you are already hopping into designing that logo or spending your money to design it for you, please stop right there. Yes, and check if you already gone through these stages I am sharing with you.
One of the reasons many online businesses fail is because it's alignment to the owner wasn't established from the very beginning. We have to remember that we build a business not to start on day one and quit the next day. WE ARE AND SHOULD BE IN IT IN A LONG HAUL IF WE REALLY WANT TO BE SUCCESSFUL. When you ran into struggles or fears, how committed are you to face that? Is the business idea aligns your dreams, passion and ultimate goal or it's entirely just to earn money? I know how exciting it can be to to make those ideas come to life, but is that something you really want to do in the next 5 years or so? If you realized it's not, that's okay. But you have decide whether you commit to that business idea or to let go.

𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙎𝙮𝙣𝙙𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙞𝙨 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡!

I've created this graphic with an intention to temporarily step back from my business and maybe focus on making all things "perfect" before I start getting clients again — but really I have no concrete plans on what to do next. For a lot of designers, we use Pinterest, Behance or any websites to get all the inspirations from.. and that's what I do everytime I design something for my clients... Few minutes I was just looking for inspirations but minutes have always become hours of scrolling, comparing, insecurities and doubts. You know that feeling when you start telling to yourself that you are not good enough? That you don't deserve to get clients to work with because you don't know how to do this yet or that?

So where is this stepping back going to take me? My answer is, I don't know. I just know that this will not help me grow, this will not help me learn what I should be learning during the process... therefore, instead of stepping back, while writing this caption (that most likely bored you already), I have decided to document everything in here, be vulnerable and truthful to my audience... so that a year from now, I'll have something to look back to. If there is going to be struggles, pains, failures, losses, wins, milestones, achievements, you will be seeing it in here and I hope that you join me along this journey.

And for someone who's on the same boat right now, know that you are not alone. There may be struggles but always keep your faith. There is a right time for everything.
