The Phase II of our recruitment process will take place on Blue house(4th floor) at 1-2:30 pm!

For writer applicants, please bring your own pen and bondpaper.

For layout artist aplicants, please bring laptop, tablet, or your mobile phone (or whatever convenient gadget for you to edit).

For cartoonist applicants, please bring your own drawing materials and bondpaper.

For photojournalist applicants, please bring your own camera(DSLR/phone/etc.) for capturing.

Maktub, the official college student publication of PEACI is looking for a new roster of campus journalists who are dedicated and committed to delivering information and occurrences on the campus to the PEACI community.

Be one of us and let us unravel, explore, and enhance together your skills in writing, news broadcasting, layout designing, and other publications and literary works.

𝐌𝐚𝐤𝐭𝐮𝐛 𝐌𝐎𝐉𝐎 || 𝐏𝐄𝐀𝐂𝐈 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐬 𝐢𝐭𝐬 16𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬

The 16th Commencement Exercises of Philippine Engineering and Agro-Industrial College, Inc. took place at the Dimaporo Gymnasium, MSU, Marawi City on April 4, 2024 with the theme “Empowering Minds: Fostering Leadership, Innovation, and Excellence for a Brighter Future.”

The ceremony was highlighted by a keynote address from Atty. Ating D. Diacat, RCE, the guest speaker of the said ceremony. The graduating class, known as Batch Mjolnir, experienced a blend of elation and nostalgia as they reflected on their academic journey and prepared for the next phase of their lives. Many graduates emphasized the crucial role of family and friends in supporting their academic endeavors.

MAKTUB FEATURES || Ms. Norjannah S. Pandapatan, LPT

Ms. Norjannah S. Pandapatan, LPT, is an instructor at Philippine Engineering and Agro-Industrial College Inc. (PEACI) for the past two years. Currently, she chairs the Liberal Arts and Natural Sciences (LANS) department.

Ms. Pandapatan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Filipino from Mindanao State University-Main Campus in Marawi City. She is currently pursuing a Master of Arts in Filipino major in Literatura at the same university.

Earning her degree and becoming a licensed teacher fulfilled a lifelong dream, especially for her parents. The journey wasn't easy, but with their unwavering support, she achieved her goals.

For her, education is a powerful tool to overcome life's challenges. Teaching, in turn, allows her to provide guidance, direction, and encouragement to her students. Known for her calm demeanor, she practices active listening and encourages open communication in her classroom. Respect is paramount, a value she emphasizes consistently.

MAKTUB FEATURES || Engr. Abobakar M. Sarosong, SO2

Engr. Abobakar Sarosong is an instructor at the College of Information Technology and Engineering (CITE). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Mindanao State University Main Campus.

His academic journey was fueled by his parents' encouragement. Throughout elementary and high school, he consistently ranked amongst the Top 15 Students of his class. To help alleviate the financial burden on his parents, who were also supporting his siblings' education, Engr. Sarosong worked while studying. Fortunately, various scholarship and student assistantship programs eased his financial strain during college.

Further, his involvement in various organizations, particularly the Bangsamoro Youth Leader for Justice and Peace, honed his leadership and public speaking skills. Additionally, his two terms as Vice President and President of the Fortified Academic Movement in Engineering Society (FAMES) provided valuable teaching experience. The organization's review and tutorial programs allowed him to develop his skills in imparting knowledge using different methods.

He emphasizes the importance of preparation as a core principle. He passionately advocates for making advance preparations for any task or challenge, as it significantly contributes to the overall success of any endeavor. He firmly believes that achieving goals requires a willingness to make sacrifices.

Let us dispose of ourselves as we celebrate the holy Feast of Sacrifice, Eid al-Adha. Eid Al-Adha is to be celebrated annually on the 10th day of Dhu Al-Hijjah, the 12th month in the Hijrah calendar.

On May 31, 2024, Maktub members attended the Re-echo Seminar on campus journalism at New Building, PEACI with the delegates who participated in the National Convetion on Campus Journalism (NCJC) 2024.

The said event was conducted to relive the experiences and share the learnings of some Maktub members who represented the PEACI in NCJC held at the Manila Grand Opera Hotel, Santa Cruz, Manila.

Maktub’s Editor-in-Chief, Mohammad Matumadi, commenced his talk on the relevance of campus journalism and the press freedom of journalists as stated in the law. Moreover, the delegates including Mohammad Matumadi, Sharina Lao, and Sophia Amerol also went into detail in discussing the key takeaways they learned from the convention.

Meanwhile, an orientation for the new members was also orchestrated to inform them of the tasks and the workflow in the publication.

The event ended with the sharing of updates on this year’s Maktub issue which will be released soon.

MAKTUB FEATURES || Almerah T. Tominoray, RN, MAN

Ms. Almerah T. Tominoray, RN, MAN, is the current dean of the College of Nursing and an esteemed instructor at Philippine Engineering and Agro-Industrial College Inc. (PEACI. Not only is she an honored instructor, but also a Registered Nurse. She became both a Pediatric and an OB-GYNE ER Nurse at the Amai Pakpak Medical Center. She was also a clinical instructor at Mindanao Institute of Healthcare Professions. Beyond her accomplishments as a nurse, she was trained in different areas in Southern Philippines Medical Center, Davao City. She graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing and pursued Master of Arts in Nursing at Mindanao State University-Main Campus, Marawi City.

If nursing is a calling to provide holistic care for others, then for her, teaching is also a calling to impart knowledge, instill values and share the future of the students to achieve their dreams. She believed that education is a life-long journey of learning and a gateway to many opportunities that can change the world. Her way of teaching is also top notch. As a good instructor and someone who helps to shape the future, she knows that it is her responsibility to guide and support them to the best of her capabilities.

“Always dream big, because nothing is impossible to a willing heart and stay out of your comfort zone and don't be afraid to take risks. Learn to embrace challenges", she answered when asked what advice she could give to the students. This mantra allowed her to have a sharp mindset, which eventually led to her current success.
