PEOPLE MARCHED FOR INTERNATIONAL HUMAN RIGHTS DAY

Unified against the injustices of the Marcos-Duterte administration, several progressive groups marched in protest from Liwasang Bonifacio to Recto Avenue today, December 10, in observance of International Human Rights Day.

The rally called accountability for human rights abuses including red-tagging and extrajudicial killings. The demonstration highlighted the destruction of the “Mamamayan vs. Kasamaan, Kadiliman” effigy that symbolized government failures.

PBBM SIGNS BASIC EDUCATION MENTAL HEALTH AND WELL-BEING PROMOTION ACT

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed the Basic Education Mental Health and Well-Being Promotion Act, institutionalizing mental health programs in public and private basic education schools today, December 9.

The law mandates the creation of care centers providing counseling, stress management workshops, and initiatives to combat mental health stigma for students, teaching staff, and non-teaching staff. It is expected to enhance academic performance, reduce absenteeism, and foster a culture of compassion within schools.

405 OUT OF 677 RECIPIENTS OF VP DUTERTE’S CONFIDENTIAL FUNDS LACK PSA RECORDS

Data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) disclosed that 405 out of 677 individuals tied to confidential fund allocations under VP Sara Duterte’s leadership obtain no birth records. This was announced by House Good Government and Public Accountability Chairperson Joel Chua today, December 9, during what is anticipated to be the final hearing into the alleged fund misuse.

Additionally, the probe uncovered irregularities in acknowledgment receipts submitted for liquidation with over 200 names being found to have duplicates in the PSA database.
