Daily Mass Readings for October 24 2024, Thursday of the Twenty-ninth Week in Ordinary Time
1st Reading – Ephesians 3:14-21
Brothers and sisters:
14 I kneel before the Father,
15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named,
16 that he may grant you in accord with the riches of his glory to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inner self,
17 and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, rooted and grounded in love,
18 may have strength to comprehend with all the holy ones what is the breadth and length and height and depth,
19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, so that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to accomplish far more than all we ask or imagine, by the power at work within us,
21 to him be glory in the Church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.
🙏UNANG PAGBASA
Amen.
Ang Salita ng Diyos.
đź“–Today's Gospel: Luke 1:39-56
Mary set out and traveled to the hill country in haste to a town of Judah, where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
For at the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.”
And Mary said: “My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant. From this day all generations will call me blessed: the Almighty has done great things for me, and holy is his Name. He has mercy on those who fear him in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm, he has scattered the proud in their conceit. He has cast down the mighty from their thrones, and has lifted up the lowly. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent away empty. He has come to the help of his servant Israel for he has remembered his promise of mercy, the promise he made to our fathers, to Abraham and his children forever.”
Mary remained with her about three months and then returned to her home.
Ang Mabuting Balita Huwebes Agosto 15 Ang Dakilang Kapistahan ng Pag-aakyat sa Langit sa Mahal na Birheng Maria: Lucas 1:39-56
Mabuting Balita: Lucas 1:39-56
Daily Mass Readings for March 1 2024, Friday of the Second Week of Lent
1st Reading – Genesis 37:3-4, 12-13A, 17B-28A
3 Israel loved Joseph best of all his sons, for he was the child of his old age; and he had made him a long tunic.
4 When his brothers saw that their father loved him best of all his sons, they hated him so much that they would not even greet him.
12 One day, when his brothers had gone to pasture their father’s flocks at Shechem,
13A Israel said to Joseph, “Your brothers, you know, are tending our flocks at Shechem. Get ready; I will send you to them.”
17B So Joseph went after his brothers and caught up with them in Dothan.
18 They noticed him from a distance, and before he came up to them, they plotted to kill him.
19 They said to one another: “Here comes that master dreamer!
20 Come on, let us kill him and throw him into one of the cisterns here; we could say that a wild beast devoured him. We shall then see what comes of his dreams.”
21 When Reuben heard this, he tried to save him from their hands, saying, “We must not take his life.
22 Instead of shedding blood,” he continued, “just throw him into that cistern there in the desert; but do not kill him outright.” His purpose was to rescue him from their hands and return him to his father.
23 So when Joseph came up to them, they stripped him of the long tunic he had on;
24 then they took him and threw him into the cistern, which was empty and dry.
25 They then sat down to their meal. Looking up, they saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead, their camels laden with gum, balm and resin to be taken down to Egypt.
26 Judah said to his brothers: “What is to be gained by killing our brother and concealing his blood?
27 Rather, let us sell him to these Ishmaelites, instead of doing away with him ourselves. After all, he is our brother, our own flesh.” His brothers agreed.
28B They sold Joseph to the Ishmaelites for twenty pieces of silver.
📖Today's Gospel – Matthew 22:15-21
15 The Pharisees went off and plotted how they might entrap Jesus in speech.
16 They sent their disciples to him, with the Herodians, saying, “Teacher, we know that you are a truthful man and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. And you are not concerned with anyone’s opinion, for you do not regard a person’s status.
17 Tell us, then, what is your opinion: Is it lawful to pay the census tax to Caesar or not?”
18 Knowing their malice, Jesus said, “Why are you testing me, you hypocrites?
19 Show me the coin that pays the census tax.” Then they handed him the Roman coin.
20 He said to them, “Whose image is this and whose inscription?”
21 They replied, “Caesar’s.” At that he said to them, “Then repay to Caesar what belongs to Caesar and to God what belongs to God.”
Catholic Sunday Readings for August 15 2023, Solemnity of The Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Mass During the Day
1st Reading – Revelation 11:19A; 12:1-6A, 10AB
19A God’s temple in heaven was opened, and the ark of his covenant could be seen in the temple.
1 A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.
2 She was with child and wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth.
3 Then another sign appeared in the sky; it was a huge red dragon, with seven heads and ten horns, and on its heads were seven diadems.
4 Its tail swept away a third of the stars in the sky and hurled them down to the earth. Then the dragon stood before the woman about to give birth, to devour her child when she gave birth.
5 She gave birth to a son, a male child, destined to rule all the nations with an iron rod. Her child was caught up to God and his throne.
6A The woman herself fled into the desert where she had a place prepared by God.
10AB Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: “Now have salvation and power come, and the Kingdom of our God and the authority of his Anointed One.”
📖Today's Gospel – Matthew 10:37-42
37 Jesus said to his apostles: “Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;
38 and whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.
39 Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
40 “Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.
41 Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward.
42 And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink because the little one is a disciple amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.”
