Mountains Cover a Significant Portion of Our Planet’s Land Surface and Act as the “𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱,” Supplying Freshwater That Supports More Than Half of Humanity. They Are Also Rich in Biodiversity and Provide Food, Clean Water, Energy, Cultural Heritage, and Recreation.

On December 10, we mark Human Rights Day. Rooted in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), this day reminds us that 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗲𝘄, 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗹𝗹—regardless of race, gender, ability, identity, or status.
