The busking movement of the Philippines is getting more exciting, especially when "major busking personalities" headline a milestone event dedicated to bring buskers together from all sides of the scene.
MAKATI CITY, Philippines -- All roads lead to Poblacion de Makati as three of the biggest busking superstars of today's scene get together for the very first regular Buskers' Night at The Astbury on September 10, 2024.
Supported by the independent media and physical activations community The New Hue, Martin Riggs, Eloisa, and The Weekly Rave podcast host Raven Acedera (Raven and the Papis), leaders of their respective busking groups, will kickstart this collaborative pay-what-you-can music experience that includes stellar live performances of topnotch headliners, open jam for early registrants, and hangout sessions where street performers and buskers-alike can socialize and build their network.
Martin is the founder of The Busking Community PH (TBCPH) whose music transcends to the soul because of his rough instrument play complimented by smooth word play. He is widely known for teaming up with top mainstream artists to perform in his humble street beginnings. Through his group TBCPH, he has largely helped in normalizing busking by negotiating with public spaces in providing platforms for aspiring and rising local artists and personally mentoring them.
Eloisa is a fast-emerging singer-songwriter and professional street perfomer whose earnest yet cheerful music is an outburst of wit, passion, and emotions. She is nicknamed as Philippines' Queen of Busking as she has always been a top favorite and deep inspiration among the ever-growing community of buskers in the country. She pioneered Buskers Fest Ph and founded Buskers Ph.
Raven, on the other hand, is the founder of Metro Buskers Club, a grassroots community which aims to promote the culture of busking by partnering with different government agencies, non-profit organizations, and private entities. He is also known as The Busking Nomad as he travels the country to promote busking mobility. He also founded other several independent artist communities such as Saranggola Productions (Manila), Sisilim Kolektib (Central Luzon), Dagitab Creatives (Cavite), and SIBOL Collective (Baguio). He is popularly known as the Raven of the OPM pop rock band Raven and the Papis which gives life to his timely, relatable, and tagos-sa-puso originals which are inspired by narratives of love, hope, and triumph.
