8 mistakes I see job applicants make.

1. Follow Instructions

If the post says to email but you chat through Messenger, it shows you don't follow clear instructions.

2. Address People By Name

It surprises me how some emails don't begin with "Dear (Name)."

As Dale Carnegie said, "Remember that a person’s name is to that person, the sweetest and most important sound in any language."

If you go straight to the body without an intro recognizing that you are talking to a human being, it betrays a lack of social skills.

3. Double check your file name and email subject

I see resumes with file names as unimaginative as "CV (1)" or emails with subject "application".

Put your full name in your email subject and file name because remember you are being compared against other applicants so make it easy for the HR to recall your name.

4. Use a cover email or letter

I understand the urge to keep sending your resume to a lot of companies as possible (I was like this too) but you will be infinitely more likely to be noticed if you have a cover email or letter tailored for that company.

Briefly describing yourself, why you found this company interesting, and how your experiences make you suitable for the job description will make you a lot more likely to land the interview.

5. Ask questions

The part where you ask questions is one of the best chances to make your impression on the hiring committee.

Use it to show an interest in the role and in the company.

Plus points if you have a mutual connection that you both share.

Asking the interviewer how you know that person is a huge opportunity.

Remember not everyone is comfortable hiring strangers.

It's infinitely better if they know someone they know who can vouch for you or at least say you aren't a bad person.

6. Be responsive to the question.

Begin answering yes or no questions with yes or no supported by specific context.

If it's a historical question like your previous work experience, answer by making a timeline through the years.

If it is a question that can be answered multiple ways like why we should hire you, answer by saying these are the 3 reasons why you should be hired.

Being organized in your answers shows clarity of thought.

7. Put your specific accomplishments

Many applicants put their previous work without indicating what they actually did in their previous job.

Even better if you can indicate quantitative or qualitative results you have achieved there.

Employers don't hire job titles.

8. Proofread.

Always check for typos.

First off, typos are human but always better if you can avoid them because other employers consider it attention to detail.

Make sure though you don't misspell the name of the company or the person you are talking to because those are extra bad.

Sa panahon ngayon, it's very important na may insurance. We don't know what's going to happen tomorrow or the next day or the next day after, and so on and so forth..

But.. medyo mabigat sa bulsa ang monthly na paghuhulog sa insurance.

Good thing, may mga bagong options na ng insurance kung saan once a year ka lang magbabayad! 🤩

1. If you're a Pag-Ibig Loyalty Card Holder, you can avail Lockton Kaagapay 8-Benefit Micro-Insurance Package by Paramount Life & General Insurance for only 120php per unit! wow! 🤩🤩🤩

> 1 member can avail 5 units max and that is ONLY 600php 👍

2. If you have a Komo Savings account by EastWest Bank, you can avail Troo Flex Insurance upto 500k max coverage. I paid only 2,025 for 500k Life Insurance, 500k Accidental Death Benefit, and 500k Accidental Disablement Benefit. There's an option to also add Critical Illness benefit for an additional 1k sa premium amount/payment (I will add that benefit next year).
