Recent reports of an outbreak of HMPV in China have raised alarm globally. However, India's Ministry of Health said the situation in China is not unusual given the ongoing flu season. Interesting reminder from the WHO: ‘Stay home if feeling unwell.’ A seemingly random post posted on January 5, but is it really? With respiratory cases surging across several countries—likely fueled by the autumn and winter chill—this timely advice feels anything but coincidental.

Could it be a subtle nod to rising global health concerns as multiple legitimate news agencies claim? Whatever the case, it’s a wake-up call for all of us to remain vigilant.

Now’s the time to double down on good hygiene, mask up if necessary, and avoid unnecessary risks. What do you think—is this just a friendly health tip, or is there more to the story?

Russia has unveiled its own mRNA vaccine for cancer, set to be distributed free of charge to patients starting early 2025, according to state news agency TASS.

According to authorities, pre-clinical trials show the vaccine inhibits tumor growth and prevents the spread of cancer.

The breakthrough was supposedly spearheaded by the Gamaleya National Research Center, with AI accelerating the creation of personalized vaccines - potentially reducing production time to under an hour.

Earlier this year, President Vladimir Putin hinted at advancements in cancer vaccine research.

JUST IN: BRP Teresa Magbanua has returned to Palawan with hungry and dehydrated personnel.

Magbanua had been sent to Escoda Shoal some 140 km away from Palawan to guard against alleged Chinese reclamation activities in the area.

China has been blocking resupply missions to Magbanua and has called on the Philippines to withdraw the ship.

The Philippine Coastguard says the withdrawal was due to humanitarian reasons more than political.

PCG Spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea cited bad weather in the arwa compounded by damage sustained by ramming by China Coastguard ships in August.

Sources say personnel have been subsisting on rice porridge (lugaw) for weeks and were out of food two days prior to return. | via Joseph Morong/GMA Integrated News
