We had a great talk about life, entrepreneurial wisdom and inspiring success of the owner of Fields & Brew, Mr. Ferdinand Alcos. It wasn't easy for him to start all the way from rock bottom: to becoming a call center agent; doing freelancing since early 2012; to creating digital marketing agencies for foreign international until he was able to establish his own businesses. A MUST TRY FRAPPE COFFEE JELLY MIX OF THE SOUTH

It was 2017 when I first fell in love with Frappe Coffee Jelly. I, then always ask the barista to add a scoop of extra coffee jelly for 25 pesos. Frappe coffee jelly became my favorite drink whenever I visit a coffee shop.

Recently, our team was invited to visit Fields & Brew located in Batangas City, within its 24 hour zone district. Locals said, that their location was known as “Supreme Bus station”, and everyone can easily visit it via jeepney with “Balagtas or Kapitolyo” signage or Waze it: Fields and Brew.

OUR REVIEW
INGREDIENTS: Fields & Brew’s Caramel Mocha Coffee Jelly has a great taste of luscious dark chocolate, lush sip of mocha, dose of espresso shot, fresh milk taste and generous offer of coffee jelly — both bottom and top have coffee jellies.

TASTE: Initial sip gives a gush of distinct flavors which perfectly throng my tongue — the espresso coffee is truly distinguishable, caramel & milk have light touch of flavor while the dark chocolate makes the sip more enjoyable. When sipping the bottom to get coffee jelly, it presents a gentle bite size.

ADD ONS:
I asked for an extra scoop of coffee jelly, they handsomely offered it for only 20 pesos VS 25 pesos from the other cafe which I frequently visit.

OVERALL, the taste of their Caramel Mocha Coffee Jelly is appealing and fairly luscious. Its sweetness is derived from its Mocha syrup which can be adjusted from 25% to 100% serving depending on your preference and frappe character.

NUEVA VIZCAYA PANCAKES

This lad owns and operates his pancake bar beside the road midst Lactawan, Nueva Vizcaya. You’ll surely notice the stall before crossing the curved baryo bridge, it sits down near the river and the lush forest.

At a price of P5 per piece you can enjoy choco, yema or cheese flavor, stirred with organic ingredients and his enthusiastic-entrepreneurial spirit. All pancake are freshly cooked and don’t taste sweet.

In my voyage within the area, I couldn’t resist to stop by and buy at least a dozen of the “Blessed Japanese Pancake”, the next thing I remember asking myself was “Where can I have a sip of [barako] coffee?”

Before pressing forward to your destination, make sure you buy enough because you’ll surely crave for more!

Amongst many Bo’s Coffee shop, they have a unique portfolio of offering you their Conference Room for FREE for 1 hr 30 min - 2 hours, just avail at least P1,500 worth of food, cake or coffee. Cookie Alert! 🍪🚨

Since the start of this pandemic a lot of local businesses started emerging. One of the businesses that got a huge attention is the baking industry. You’ll see a lot of cookie competitors everywhere!

One of the home-cooked cookies we discovered are cookies made by Verão Bed and Breakfast. Why we are loving it? Simply because of their generous serving and cookie texture. No one can say no to a chewy piece of warm cookies!

Currently they offer Apple of my eye, Bittersweet memories, and S’mores than a feeling. 😋 These cookies are freshly baked so expect a fresh batch when you order.

Aside from cookies you also have to try their Shepherd's pie. You have to taste it for yourself!

Their food reminds us of home. ❤️🏠

☕️BARAKO COFFEE & ITALIAN CUISINE 🍕

I've been a since 2016. It was heavily influenced by the nature of my work as a digital nomad freelancer, working day and night for BIG Digital Marketing Agencies serving the Global Market of eCommerce.

It's rare to see in a rurban food restaurant, the tandem of two (2) genuine quality of: Culture and Original Taste.

Taza Mia Coffee - Plaza Mabini, Batangas City owned and franchised by an Italian Aerospace Engineer and Chef, Sir Massimo, offers "Batangas " and other coffee variants, sandwiches and rice meal plus REAL AUTHENTIC , and its Signature Dessert such as .

Even before meeting Massimo (before COVID outbreak), I used to visit their branch but wasn't aware that they have something more unique and delicious for the locals. I usually order New York Breakfast because it's served with FREE cup of Barako coffee.

One day, I decided to taste their pasta –– Burrata for P260. I was surprised that there's special way of eating it so one can fully appreciate its flavor. It comes with fresh cherry tomato sauce, basil leaves, olive oil topped with fresh burrata & melting mozzarella. Unlike other pasta, its serving size is quite small, only good for solo, just like in a fine dining restaurant.

In the following days, I ordered their pizza –– Margherita for P399 and Pizza Alle Verdure (Veggie) for P399.

Margherita is filled with mozzarella cheese mixed with Italian tomatoes (Mossimo said the seed came from Itally and is organically grown in Tagaytay), fresh basil, salt and extra virgin olive oil. The pizza crust is hand tossed, not dry and neither thick nor thin, just enough to host the toppings so you can appreciate the pizza.

If you prefer veggie diet, Pizza Alle Verdure is surely for you. It has generous portions of black olives, red and green bell pepper, sweet white onion, button mushrooms over special tomato sauce melted over with mozarella and parmesan cheese. It's best served with pineapple bits which you can request from the server.

Condiments are available upon request –– hot sauce, salt and pepper, this just suggests that you can pamper yourself in a cozy food shop near the park where Apolinario Mabini's monument overlooks the plaza.

"Looking for a twist in your morning routine ? ☕️

If you’re like me who wants to jump start the morning with a decent cup, I suggest you start trying drip coffee from HeBrews Highland Coffee Trading . This local brand helped me appreciate brewing my own coffee at the comfort of my home. What I love about using this method is its convenience. I don’t need to purchase expensive tools; all I have to do is take a packet, tear of the top part to expose the ground coffee, slip the holder handles over my cup, and start pouring. It's literally that easy!

As we all know behind a good cup coffee is a high-quality bean which every pack of their drip coffee promises. I can vouch on that! The quality is not compromised with its fair price.
