On this day in 1983, his assassination awakened the Filipino spirit and sparked the People Power Revolution that would end the dictatorship in the Philippines.

Today, August 16, different schools around Mandaluyong City gathered in Jose Rizal University, at the Centennial Building Auditorium, for the Lingap Angat Karunungan Project by Lingat Angat in collaboration with Josรฉ Rizal University Community Development Office, and with the participation of partnered Public Schools, featuring Senator Bam Aquino as the main speaker.

The event started with an inspiring speech by Ms. Ma. Lourdes R. Ortiz-Luis, Lingap Angat Chairperson, introducing the Lingap Angat Organization, and speaking wisdom of the societal issues that the organization focuses on; inaccessible education and child healthcare.

It was then followed by a message from Dr. Miguel M. Carpio, Josรฉ Rizal Universityโ€™s Vice President of Academic Affairs, sharing the enthusiasm and dedication of the university in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals, and any projects that falls under the umbrella of the SDGs, such as Lingap Angatโ€™s educational initiatives.

The event then proceeded with a powerful intermission number presented by Teatro Rizal followed by a performance from Luis Ryan Tiangson from Ilaya-Barangka Integrated School, with his rendition of the song โ€œ๐๐š๐ง๐ ๐š๐ซ๐š๐ฉ ๐Š๐จโ€™๐ฒ ๐Š๐š๐ฅ๐š๐ฒ๐š๐š๐งโ€ from a Filipino Musical โ€œ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ค๐ข๐š๐งโ€, and a spoken poetry piece.

Finally, Senator Bam Aquino took the floor, discussing the six (6) main issues circulating around the education system of the country. After the speech, the program went to the question and answer discussion between Sen. Aquino and six (6) students from different public schools and universities.

At the end, Dr. Jocelyn N. Tamayo, Mandaluyong Elementary School Principal expressed her words of appreciation for the senatorโ€™s effort and Lingap Angatโ€™s commitment for their contribution in advocating for accessible and quality education.

The program officially closed with the awarding of the plaque of appreciation towards Sen. Bam Aquino followed by a photo opportunity.
