January 12, 2024 | Drop Everything And Read!

In accordance with the implementation of the National Reading Program as a crucial element of the National Learning Recovery Program (NLRP), the Department of Education is implementing Catch-up Fridays.

Commencing on January 12, 2024, with the Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) Day, this initiative aims to give learners a chance to partake in independent silent reading of their preferred materials.

The ongoing initiatives implemented by DepEd aims to provide avenues for improving the academic performance of learners, specifically addressing the low reading proficiency levels identified through national and international large-scale assessments. The results of these assessments highlight the urgency to promptly address learning gaps and prop up the reading skills of all learners.

Catch-up Fridays are conceived to enhance the fundamental, social, and pertinent skills vital for realizing the objectives of the basic education curriculum by emphasizing the enhancement of the learner's reading, critical thinking, analytical, and writing abilities.

Embracing Change: Welcoming the New Year with Hope and Resilience

New Year, new chapters, and a fresh perspective. Here's to rewriting our stories, chasing dreams, and creating memories that last a lifetime!

In the tapestry of life, New Year is a thread that weaves together moments of triumph, regret, development, and resilience. New Year is not about celebration and fireworks; it is a profound acknowledgment of the human capacity to adapt and learn. It is a time to be grateful for the experiences that shaped us to embrace the infinite chance that lie ahead. The pages of the new year are blank and only ready to be filled with our life tales. It is a time to be hopeful and remember that despite all obstacles, there is always room for improvement, progress, and the quest of happiness.

The sky erupts in a kaleidoscope of fireworks, casting a gleaming display of light across the night sky. In that passing moment there's a collective exhale, the New Year unfolds like a blank canvas inviting us to paint our dreams, desires, and ambitions. A reminder that no matter the challenges faced, there is always the potential for growth, joy, and new beginnings.

Let us raise a toast to the memories we've made, the lessons we've learned, and the adventures that awaits us!

Reflecting on the Past, Embracing the Future: A Symphony of New Beginnings

As the clock strikes midnight, here's to leaving behind the old and embracing the new.

Excitement and thinking are in the air as people think back on the occasions and turning points of the previous year. Successes, setbacks, giggles, and tears all flood back, forming a patchwork of recollections that characterize the last year. By allowing us to reflect on our past, draw lessons from it, and apply them to the blank canvas of the future, New Year's Eve acts as a collective pause button.

Celebrations on New Year's Eve encompass a diverse range of expressions, spanning from intricate firework exhibitions in urban hubs to intimate get-togethers among acquaintances and loved ones. However, beneath the surface merriment lies an internal commemoration of strength and the resolute nature of humanity.

Essentially, New Year's Eve is a moment to celebrate time; it's a marker that helps us navigate life's river, cherishing the currents of the past and enthusiastically setting off on a path towards the future.

Let us carry forward the lessons of the past with gratitude, welcome the unknown with hope, and embark on the expedition of the new year with hearts full of optimism.

December 30, 2023 | The Pen and the Sword: A Beacon of Courage and Enlightenment

On this day, December 30th, marks the annual commemoration of Jose Rizal Day in the Philippines, a solemn occasion that pays tribute to the remarkable life and invaluable contributions of Dr. Jose Rizal, revered as the national hero of our beloved country.

Born on the 19th of June in 1861, Rizal was a versatile Filipino nationalist, intellectual, and patriot whose influence transcended his own era. Filipinos honor his contributions to the country's fight for independence and his advocacy for social reforms.

Rizal's remarkable books like "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo" played a crucial role in awakening society. With great bravery, he revealed the unfairness and mistreatment during the Spanish colonial era through his writings, aiming to bring about awareness and positive change. Rizal's writings weren't just complaints, but they actually encouraged Filipinos to think about their situation and strive for a better future. His words had a powerful effect on people, inspiring them to reflect on their circumstances and work towards a brighter tomorrow.

Today, many Filipinos celebrate this holiday filled with patriotic activities, such as parades, flag raising ceremonies, and cultural performances. It's a great opportunity to learn more about Philippine history and celebrate the spirit of unity and freedom.

December 6, 2023 | A Christmas Gift for the Children

Malabon NHS joins the simultaneous tree-planting which aims to plant 236,000 trees.

Tree planting is paramount for several reasons. Trees absorb carbon dioxide, release oxygen, and help combat climate change. It contributes to biodiversity by providing habitat for various species. Planting trees is a proactive step towards a healthier planet.

Planting trees represents a proactive approach towards addressing environmental concerns, advocating for sustainability, and nurturing a more wholesome planet for both present and future generations.

Through acknowledging the diverse significance of tree planting, we have the ability to strive towards the establishment of sustainable ecosystems, enhanced climate resilience, and the promotion of a more salubrious environment.
