MPT South teams up with LRMC Plant for Life at Ipo Watershed

As part of its commitment to environmental sustainability, Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), participated in the Plant for Life: Tree Planting Activity organized by Maynilad Water Services Inc. in partnership with Bantay Gubat of Ipo Watershed on September 27, 2024.

The event focused on the reforestation of the vital Ipo Watershed in Bulacan, which plays a crucial role in the water supply for Metro Manila and other parts of Cavite. MPT South, along with Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) employees and volunteers, planted a total of 800 native tree seedlings in this collective effort. This is a part of Maynilad's 2024 environmental target, which seeks to plant 220,000 trees across 660 hectares of forested land.

LTO PITX Now Offers Motor Vehicle Registration Renewal Services

The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), in collaboration with the Land Transportation Office (LTO), is thrilled to introduce motor vehicle registration renewal services at the terminal. This convenient offering applies to both cars and motorcycles, making PITX an ideal location for motorists to renew their registrations with ease.

To complete the motor vehicle registration renewal process at PITX, the following requirements must be submitted:

• LTO Client ID
• One (1) clear photocopy of the latest Official Receipt (OR) and Certificate of Registration (CR)
• (Note: This is not applicable for online motor vehicle registration renewals)
• Proof of electronically transmitted appropriate insurance Certificate of Cover (COC)
• Electronically transmitted Motor Vehicle Inspection System Report (MVISR) or Certificate of Emission Compliance (CEC)

Toyota endorses first model End-of-Life Vehicle dismantler in the Philippines

Automotive leader Toyota has endorsed En Tsumugi ELV Dismantler Corporation as a model End-of-Life Vehicle (ELV) dismantling facility, the first of its kind in the country, located in Mexico, Pampanga.

A wholly-owned venture of the Hung family – owner of local metal recycling companies Supreme Mile Trading Corp. (SMTC) and CoroCrown Corporation, En Tsumugi is a result of a pilot project led by Japanese ELV dismantler Tsuruoka Co., Ltd. and financially supported by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Several Japanese businesses, including Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) and Mitsui & Co., Ltd., provided business development and technical assistance.

The establishment of En Tsumugi is a significant milestone in the Philippine automotive industry’s push for a responsible management system for ELVs, or those vehicles with components classified by the local authorities as waste. The facility, open to various car makes, will serve as a benchmark in further developing the local recycling industry while promoting environmental sustainability and the adoption of best practices and foreign expertise.

Through its local unit, Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP), Toyota's involvement in the project includes providing technical support in various areas, such as environmental compliance, facility design, dismantling methodology, equipment requirements, and hazardous waste management.

Furthermore, TMP donated five ELVs, including one hybrid electric vehicle, to En Tsumugi as training units for further equipping and enhancing of the facility's capabilities.

“The establishment of a local ELV dismantler aligns with the goals of the ‘Toyota Global 100 Dismantlers Project,’ which aims to establish a network of proper ELV dismantling facilities worldwide,” said TMP President Masando Hashimoto during the inauguration ceremony of En Tsumugi in Pampanga.

The project seeks to address the environmental challenges posed by ELVs, such as pollution and resource depletion, by promoting proper dismantling and recycling practices, which also contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

At the same event, TMP bestowed its Certificate of Gratitude to En Tsumugi. Hashimoto also mentioned that En Tsumugi is the fourth (4th) ELV dismantler in the Southeast Asian region to receive this endorsement, following similar facilities in Thailand, Vietnam, and Malaysia.

Toyota implements the Toyota Global 100 Dismantlers Project as part of its efforts towards “Establishing a Recycling-based Society and System” under the Toyota Environmental Challenge 2050, which was globally introduced in 2015.

Noong September 21, 2024, ang Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), isa sa mga subsidaryo ng Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), ay nakiisa sa International Coastal Cleanup 2024 ng Santa Rosa City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) na ginanap sa baybayin ng lawa ng Laguna, Barangay Caingin, Santa Rosa City, Laguna.

42 empleyado ng MPT South mula sa iba’t-bang departamento nito ang lumahok sa International Coastal Clean-up upang ipakita kaniya-kaniyang suporta at dedikasyon para sa environmental initiative na ito.

Ang International Coastal Cleanup 2024 ay dinaluhan ng higit sa isang libong volunteers mula sa iba't ibang kumpanya at organisasyon sa Sta. Rosa upang matugunan ang lumalaking isyu ng polusyon sa plastik at basura na nakakasira sa baybayin at katubigan, at sa mga komunidad na nakapalibot dito. Isinasagawa ang event na ito bawat taon upang alisin ang mga basura mula sa mga baybayin at itaas ang kamalayan ng mamamayan tungkol sa kahalagahan ng pagprotekta ng ating mga katubigan gaya ng ilog, dagat, lawa, at karagatan.

Sa Point B ng baybayin ng Brgy. Caingin itinalaga ang paglilinis ng mga empleyado ng MPT South, kung saan sila tumulong mangolekta ng mga basura at linisin ang bahaging iyon ng Laguna de Bay. Nakahakot ng mahigit na 2,016.5 kg na basura ang lahat ng naglinis sa Point B ng baybayin. Sa kabuuan, ang lahat ng mga nakolektang basura sa paglilinis ng baybayin ng lawa ay umabot ng 591 sako ng basura, ang mga ito ay naglalaman ng mga sumusunod: 126.5 kg ng PET bottles, 611 kg ng plastic laminates, 2,938 kg ng residuals, at 314.3 kg ng special waste—ito ay nagreresulta sa 3,989.8 kg na basurang nakolekta mula sa baybayin ng Brgy. Caingin.

Ang coastal cleanup ay bahagi ng mas malawak na CSR efforts ng MPT South na nagbibigay-diin sa pangangailangan na protektahan at mapanatili ang natural environment sa mga lugar na pinaglilingkuran nito. Sa pamamagitan ng programang ito, ipinapakita ng kumpanya ang dedikasyon nito hindi lamang upang mapabuti ang transportasyon sa pamamagitan ng mga expressways nito, kundi pati na rin upang maprotektahan ang ecosystems na nakapaligid sa mga komunidad nito.

METRO PACIFIC TOLLWAYS SOUTH & MAYNILAD JOIN HANDS TO PROVIDE RELIEF TO CAVITE FISHERFOLK AFFECTED BY OIL SPILL

MPT South Corporation, the concessionaire of Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), in partnership with Maynilad Water Services, Inc., has donated half a million pesos worth of rice to aid the local fisherfolk of Cavite, who have been severely affected by both the recent oil spill and the devastation brought by Typhoon Carina. The relief effort was officially handed over to former Governor Jonvic C. Remulla, benefiting the coastal communities of Cavite City, Bacoor City, and the municipalities of Noveleta, Rosario, Kawit, Tanza, Naic, Maragondon, and Ternate.

The disaster, triggered by the MT Terannova oil spill—which released 1.4 million liters of industrial fuel into the waters—coincided with the wrath of Typhoon Carina, leaving Cavite's coastal areas devastated. Fisherfolk, whose livelihoods depend on the health of these waters, have been hit hardest, struggling to recover from the compounded crises.

“We understand the crucial role fisherfolk play in sustaining both the livelihoods of Caviteños and the province’s food supply, said MPT South President and General Manager, Raul L.
