Congratulations to the 50 UMak alumni who passed the September 2024 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT)!

The College of Innovative Teacher Education (CITE) is committed to producing quality teachers and academic leaders dedicated to transforming lives through innovative education.

Commendations to the officials of CITE, under the leadership of Dean Jayson Bergania, along with its dedicated faculty members and administrative personnel, for their exceptional contributions to the strong performance in the recent LEPT.

Herons' Rising!

The UMak School of Law celebrates its outstanding achievement in the 2024 Bar Exam, ranking 2nd in the country among law schools with 11 to 50 examinees, with an impressive 90.91% passing rate. Out of 22 takers, 20 successfully passed, solidifying UMak's reputation as a top-performing law school for four consecutive years.

To commemorate this milestone, a bonfire celebration was held, accompanied by a spectacular fireworks display. The UMak Jammers and UMak Dance Extreme - UDX also performed to honor the School of Law passers earlier tonight.

Psychology Students Shine at Research Convergence 2024

The University of Makati - Institute of Psychology successfully hosted Research Convergence 2024, themed "From Theory to Practice: Insights into Research Trends in the Digital Era." The event showcased the academic excellence of fourth-year students as they presented their Test Manuals and Theses to a panel of judges (Ms. Sandra Rafaella Lopez, RPm, Ms. Karen Gail C. Ibanez, RPm, RPsy, Mr. Dave M. Mustacisa, MAIP, RPm, Mr. Ralph Jayson C. Pallon, MP, RPm, RPsy), highlighting innovative research contributions relevant to Filipino psychology and society. The event was sponsored by LifeMap Psychological Consultancy.

Congratulations to all the winners for their outstanding research and contributions!

HAPPENING NOW: Mayor Abby Binay delivers her special message at the Year-End Convocation 2024 at the UMak Auditorium. She expressed it as her last convocation as the city mayor.

The University of Makati community also sang and greeted her an advance birthday greeting.

Narratives that Matter!

The League of Humanities hosted a filmmaking showcase on December 2, 2024, at HPSB 507, featuring Grade 12 Humanities and Social Sciences students. The event highlighted short films tackling pressing social issues in the Philippines, with participants competing for top honors.

“Hide or Sink” by G12-03 HSS was awarded the championship title. Additional recognitions were given for excellence in cinematography, screenwriting, acting, and poster design, celebrating remarkable contributions to the showcase.

Embracing Transformation, Defining Tomorrow

From growth to greatness, the journey of the candidates of Mr. and Ms. University of Makati 2025 - Metanoia: Within—culminated in a spectacular coronation night on November 27, 2024.

Held at the 12th-floor volleyball court of the HPSB building, the event became a vibrant stage for showcasing the incredible transformations of each candidate. The electrifying energy in the room captivated the audience as they witnessed remarkable displays of growth and change.

The night marked not just the end of a journey but also the beginning of a new chapter. The crowned winners and all participants continue to inspire others with their strength, resilience, and courage.

The University of Makati has conducted succesfully the Industry Partners Recognition Day (IPRD) 2024 with a theme, "Towards Global Excellence: Voyaging to the New Employment Landscape," recreating and strengthened understanding towards a breakthrough for growth and brilliance.

IPRD is a yearly recognition for the UMak's partners across different industries to honor their commitments to help the development of the University, in which making UMak as the school of choice, supplier of talents, and rank internationally amongst higher education.

Pharmacy Week: A Test of Knowledge

The Institute of Pharmacy-Student Council enriched the celebration of Pharmacy Week with engaging activities for Pharmates at the HPSB Cafeteria on November 22, 2024.

One of the highlights was the Patient Counseling, where students demonstrated their skills in effectively communicating with patients and assessing prescribed medications through case study presentations. Another key event was the Quiz Bee, which showcased participants' intellectual prowess as teams competed to answer questions, drawing on their comprehensive knowledge of previous discussions.

Melodious Voices for a Cause

The YMCA of Makati Inc., in partnership with the University of Makati Center for Culture and the Arts and UNI-Y UMak, hosted a chorale fest at the UMak Auditorium last November 23 — Harmony for Hope: Children’s Chorus for Gabay Aral.

YMCA’s goal is youth development and empowerment. Sounding the venue with graceful notes and tunes, the chorale fest was meant to aid children’s basic needs in education, such as writing and reading. Through the voices of different chorale groups, such as the UMak Chorale, Las Piñas Boys Choir, Mandaluyong Children’s Choir, Himig Rosena, Kilyawan Consortium of Voices, Director Prof. Mark Anthony Carpio, and Ms. Jamie Rivera, their pieces helped build a bridge for the Gabay Aral program of the YMCA of Makati Inc.

A week full of insight and delight! As Mental Health Week 2024 wraps up, the Institute of Psychology Student-Council (IOPsy-SC) and Psychology Society, in collaboration with the University Student Council (USC), the Rotaract Club of Makati West, and Siklab HSU, successfully organized the events for Mental Health Week from day 1 to day 4. Students from psychology and other colleges enjoyed a variety of entertaining events throughout the week, including the Sikolympics, Art Therapy, UMHAC Talk, Extemporaneous Speech, Pecha Kucha, and Papsychlaban. The events highlighted the significance of taking care of mental well-being in the workplace and remembering that prioritizing oneself is never selfish nor wrong; it is a right and a sign of being strong.
