The Philippine footwear industry consists mostly of small and medium-size enterprises producing different kinds of items (i.e., leather footwear, sports footwear, slippers and sandals, etc.). The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) estimates more than 2,100 footwear enterprises in the Philippines generating employment of about 25,000. Majority of those are found in the National Capital Region (
NCR) where the locus of production is in the well-known and established Marikina City.
