As we bid goodbye to 2025, we do so with gratitude and pride. It was a year that treated The Brahmans’ Journal kindly—marked by awards, meaningful adventures, and challenges that tested our limits. Though the journey was far from easy, it taught us to face pressure head-on and grow stronger through every obstacle.

And as we welcome 2026, we embrace not just a new year but a chance to reflect, reset, and rise. With hope and courage, we face the year ahead with the same determination and faith that carried us through the past. With every story we tell and lesson we learn, we move forward together toward new beginnings.

TBJ warmly wishes everyone, especially our fellow UBians, a Happy New Year! May this year bring progress, hope, healing, love, and brighter days—fueling meaningful journeys and endless possibilities for us all.

On this day, 129 years ago, José Rizal—the National Hero and the First Filipino—died in Luneta. Though no soldier, he wielded the mightiest weapon: his mind and his words, forged as a polymath, physician, poet, and patriot. Executed at 35 for daring to dream of freedom, Rizal ignited the Philippine Revolution with Noli Me Tángere and El Filibusterismo, exposing tyranny and inspiring generations to rise against oppression.

As Aguinaldo's banner-bearer in spirit and the architect of our awakening, his legacy lives in every quest for justice and reform.

On Rizal Day, December 30, let us honor him not with mere words, but with the fire he kindled: love for country, pursuit of truth, and unyielding courage against all odds.

"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." - Luke 2:11

As the jingle bells ring, the hymn of the sound of people’s laughter echoes. The joy this day brings extends beyond a simple gathering to a celebration of life that He once died for 2,000 years ago.

May this day remind us of unconditional love and the true essence of this holiday. His grace that surrounds us is a living proof of the strength that sustains through the lowest points of our life. May we find ourselves in the warmth of His embrace amidst of the chaos of this world. He is the reason for this season.

From the TBJ family to yours, Merry Christmas and happy holidays!

“Grace begins when we let God in.”

Dec. 8 is a special non-working holiday to pave the way for the celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception — a celebration of hope, purity and unity. Saved from original sin, Mary became the perfect vessel to carry God’s son, Jesus Christ. She embodies the beaming purity, humility and joy of heart surrendered to Him.

Known as the Holy Day of Obligation, Catholics are compelled to attend Mass as a sign of devotion. As we commemorate her immaculate origin, we celebrate not just her unique privilege but also meditate on Mary’s virtues such as obedience, purity and faith.

With this, UBLC suspended all classes from all levels and office transactions in accordance with Presidential Proclamation No. 727 to observe this holiday. May this celebration encourage us to deepen our faith and embrace God’s call with trust, courage and a heart open to grace.

Celebrating four centuries of rich heritage and pride, this Dec. 8 marks the 444th Founding Anniversary of Batangas Province. It's a special non-working holiday declared to give Batangueños the opportunity to honor our roots, our culture and our shared identity.

This meaningful date also coincides with the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, adding a sacred touch to the commemoration. In observance of these holidays, UBLC suspends classes and office transactions.

To bring this celebration to life, the Provincial Capitol welcomes all Batangueños to come together for the Ala Eh! Festival 2025 from Dec. 8-13. It will feature trade fairs, live performances, cultural activities and vibrant events that honor the spirit of Batangas.

"Aling pag-ibig pa ang hihigit kaya sa pagkadalisay at pagkadakila gaya ng pag-ibig sa tinubuang lupa, aling pag-ibig pa? Wala na nga, wala."

-Andres Bonifacio

Today, we commemorate the 162nd birth anniversary of one of the greatest revolutionary leaders of our country—Andres Bonifacio, Supremo of the Katipunan. Famed as the Father of the Philippine Revolution, he was a central figure in the fight against oppression and in the pursuit of democracy.

Maypagasa. A pen name chosen as a symbol of his fervent aspirations for our country.

True to that name, Bonifacio was a man who embodied hope, who symbolized undying patriotism for our beloved land, and fought until death. His name and legacy lived far beyond his time. With his bolo and his cedula torn, he charged despite the gloomy fate that awaited him—proving that there is no greater love for one’s country and no sacrifice more noble.

Through Proclamation 368, November 30 is declared “Bonifacio Day,” a regular non-working holiday. As we remember his birth, may we continue to honor his life, the sacrifice he made, and the revolution he led—all, indeed, for the love of our land and democracy.

The University of Batangas (UB) and the Universitas Borneo Tarakan (UBT) of Indonesia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize and strengthen academic and institutional collaboration at the Teacher Simulation Room, Nov. 24.

Represented by the College of Education, Arts, and Sciences (CEAS), the partnership aims to expand student and faculty exchanges, support joint research, and promote cross-cultural academic initiatives between the two universities.

The University President, Lily Marlene J. Hernandez, and the CEAS Dean, Dr. Minerva A. Chavez, signed with the UBT University President and Rector, Prof. Dr. Yahya Ahmed Zein, SH., M., and the Dean of Faculty, Teacher Training and Education, Dr. Arifin, M. Pd. Also present at the ceremony were the faculty members of CEAS and the Director of the Research and Publication Office, Dr. Pastor Arguelles Jr.

“Your presence here today signifies the deepening of our partnership, one that continues to flourish through meaningful academic and cultural exchanges,” UB President Hernandez stated.

She added that the visit and signing marked a step toward broader academic cooperation, highlighting UBLC’s aim to develop more meaningful exchanges and joint initiatives with UBT.

“The signing of this partnership with Batangas University is more than a formal agreement. It is a commitment to strengthening academic collaboration and expanding global network,” Prof. Dr. Yahya Ahmed Zein emphasized.

This vision for a meaningful and action-driven partnership was then reinforced by UB’s leadership.

“We will not just end on the signing, but make this signing, the memorandum itself, a realization.” Dr. Chavez said, highlighting that the partnership is designed to create global opportunities while marking the start of a long-term plan with concrete activities and projects.

As part of the early outcomes of the partnership, UBT student Ms. Aprida Melia Alyani was delegated to UBLC, having arrived last November 3. This early exchange underscored the partnership’s goal of strengthening cultural and academic exchange between the two institutions.

The ceremony concluded with the official signing of the MOU between UBLC and UBT, followed by a campus tour for the UBT President.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: The College of Management and Tourism (CMT) opened its booths to celebrate their annual Obra MICEtro event, associated with the Events Management course of 4th-year BS International Hospitality Management (BSIHM) students, held at the study area between Bldg. A and B this Nov. 26-27.

This year, Obra MICEtro was welcomed with 11 booths themed with the Greatest Showman where students from different organizations of CMT exhibited their creativity and marketing skills.

“Since ang HM po ay more on enhancing socialization skills, yung purpose po ng booth is to engage with people po, to entertain them, and also para mas ma-showcase pa po yung theme ng event which is inspired po sa movie na The Greatest Showman.” Christine Subia, one of the participants from HM2B, said.

With that, students engaged in their carnival-like booths for their food, service, and other products that came with twists of pop-up gimmicks like tarot reading, mini carnival games and activities aligned with the theme.

"Masaya po siya and at the same time nakakapagod," Claire Jillian Abrogina, a 3rd-year college student from the organization of Junior Tourism, Hospitality, and Real Estate Professionals (JTHREP), shared her thoughts as one of the booth entertainers.

The UBian community was open to experience and interact with the two-day Obra MICEtro, along with booths that were open until Thursday, Nov. 27.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: UBLC Student Government (SG) led the annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Parol-Making displayed at the lobby entrance, Nov. 19.

The competition received a total of 14 parol entries from college departments and student organizations, constructed using sustainable or recyclable materials, in line with the judges criteria of creativity, environmental responsibility and the Filipino holiday spirit. In the competition, the Gens Animus Voxvocis Excellentia Liberum (GAVEL) clinched first place, followed by the UB Multimedia Artists Circle (UBMAC) in second place, while the Guild of Aspiring Psychologists (GAPSY) in third place.

“For me it’s the element of surprise, because it’s really different and you won’t think that it’s possible in a parol,” shared Angela Cris Laparan, the first year representative of GAVEL, as she explained about what secured their win.

GAVEL’s entry featured Filipino weaving patterns on its snowflake-shaped parol. It had a textured surface decorated with corn kernels and munggo beans and was assembled using a coconut husk base and a kawayan frame, incorporating organic materials primarily.

After the competition, UBLC held its Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at the campus grounds, organized by the Management of Assets and General Services Office and the Building and Maintenance Department, featuring a towering tree at approximately 6 meters tall, adjacent to Building A, lit with vibrant blue lights, horizontal red bands and contrasted with alternating yellow-red parols. Various lighting and decorations are also visible across the pathways, such as stars and wooden candy canes. Altogether, the celebration marked the start of the institution's 36-day countdown before Christmas.
