In the wake of disaster, the 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 - 𝗕𝗶𝗰𝗼𝗹 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁 (𝗣𝗦𝗠𝗘-𝗕𝗨𝗦𝗨) opens itself towards helping our own mechanical engineering students stand back up through your help. The proceeds raised were used to provide goods for a fellow first-year mechanical engineering student and her family.

𝗙𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗺𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝘃𝗲𝘀, 𝘄𝗲 𝗠𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿

On September 21st, the Philippines witness fear weaponized and its government’s powers concentrated under one abusive hand. Former Dictator, Ferdinand Marcos Sr., signed the proclamation that plunged the entirety of the country under martial law under the justification of the mounting “communist threat.”

𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘸𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘩𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘳𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘪𝘴𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘰 𝘱𝘦𝘰𝘱𝘭𝘦 𝘴𝘶𝘣𝘥𝘶𝘦𝘥 𝘶𝘱𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘵. Injustice after injustice ensued under the canopy of the regime. Voices of those critical were forcibly silenced. The ground of Philippine politics sown with corruption. Bodies felled for exercising rights. Information forcibly extracted through torture. Not even light could’ve seen the people’s money siphoned until devoid.

The people then knew not what horrors the regime masked. We, on the other hand, do know from them. No price of rice nor bars of gold should ever make us forget. Now that it haunts us once more, the lesson must be relearned. Now that it forces us to forget, the right questions and doubts should be raised.

The 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 - 𝐁𝐢𝐜𝐨𝐥 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭 (𝐏𝐒𝐌𝐄-𝐁𝐔𝐒𝐔) reaches out to every student of the Mechanical Engineering Department to attend our "𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗠𝗘𝗻𝘁: 𝟭𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗹𝘆", our first general assembly for this academic year.

The moment we stepped into this hall, united by a common goal and dream, was an act of courage. We've faced challenges together and created lasting memories. As we look back on our journey or forward to what lies ahead, let us never forget why we chose this path: to build ourselves through the knowledge and skills honed during these challenging times.

The first step was bravery, while the last step fulfills destiny.
