Manila Pianos Artist Series presents MOZART 2024. A series of concerts featuring diverse concertos from the prolific Austrian composer. The series aims to introduce a new generation of instrumentalists, bringing them out into the spotlight while recreating performance practices of ages past.
Concert No. 8 features Mozart's Concerto for Violin & Orchestra No. 5 in A Major, K219 "Turkish" as well as the Piano Concerto No. 18 in B-flat Major, K456. Soloists for the concert are Regina Borja, violin, Liang Zhiyi, piano accompanied by the Taytay Youth Philharmonic Orchestra.
The concert will be on Sunday September 1, 2024 at 6 pm. Venue will be at the Manila Pianos Showroom, 4/f Ronac Lifestyle Center, Paseo de Magallanes, Makati City.

The artists :
REGINA BORJA started playing the violin at the age of seven at the Philippine Research for the Development of Instrumental Soloist (PREDIS) founded by Dean Emeritus of St. Scholastica’s College- School of Music, Sr. Mary Placid Abejo, OSB, and the late Philippine violinist and pedagogue, Basilio Manalo, at a summer workshop in 2002 under Michelle Bonaobra.
In 2017, she finished her Bachelor of Music Major in Violin Performance at St. Scholastica’s College - Manila and mentored by Jeffrey Solares and Denise Santos-Huang. She was also briefly mentored by violinists Christian Tan, Ralph Taylan and Juan Muñoz. In 2017, she was a finalist at the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) in the Senior Strings category. She joined the World Vision Music Contest (online competition) in 2021 as a contestant, where she placed First Prize in the First Round and Second Prize in the Second Round. She has participated in masterclasses of foreign and Philippine violinists like Diomedes Saraza, Jassen Todorov, Dr. Shi Hwa-Wang, and Juan Munoz.
Currently, she teaches violin at PREDIS, Pedreel’s Music Studio (Las Piñas City), and Sarreal Music Academy. As part of her continuous learning and growth, Regina also attends seminars about music teaching and/or performing. She occasionally performs with the Bernie Pasamba and the Music Masters and Manila Philharmonic Orchestra. She was a violinist of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra.
LIANG ZHIYI (Joy), 14 years old, started her violin at the age of six and piano at eight. She is the winner of two third-prizes in the categories of Etude and Filipino Works in the 2024 PTGPFI Piano Competition and also the winner of Honorable Mention in both piano and violin in 2023 and 2024 New York Young Performers Prize. Her current teachers include Mariel Ilusorio for piano and Gina Medina-Perez for violin.
TAYTAY YOUTH PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA.

Founded in 2006 and re-established in 2015 the Taytay Youth Philharmonic Orchestra or TYPO is the foremost youth string orchestra in Taytay, Rizal. It is made up of more than 20 talented young musicians and around 30 in-training students from Taytay and its neighboring towns. It aims to recognize and develop the raw musical talents of the Taytayeño youth.
The TYPO, now being led and run by the youth themselves, has renewed their mission into serving and making a positive impact in the community by creating opportunities for the youth in musical training and performance. The TYPO believes that training and experience in orchestral music is an excellent means to enable the youth achieve their fullest potentials and teach them the values of discipline, selflessness, responsibility and solidarity. TYPO hopes to make a positive impact in the community, one young musician at a time.
