The Local Government Unit of Laoang has been lauded for its exemplary performance in local governance, gaining the prestigious recognition - the 2024 Seal of Good Governance in a ceremony held at the Manila Hotel yesterday, December 10, 2024.

For the second-time, the LGU Laoang successfully passed the rigorous selection process that included both regional and national validation. With this triumph, the agency was honored with the SGLG Marker and an Incentive Fund to further support for their development programs.

The prestigious recognition were received by Municipal Mayor Hector L. Ong and Mr. Jorge B. Durom, MLGOO.

Mayor Hector L. Ong greatly expressed his profound gratitude to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Mr. Jorge B. Durom, MLGOO VI and as well as the whole LGU Laoang Team, composed of Heads of Offices and Focal Persons of the various committees for their exceptional dedication and tireless efforts in securing, for the second time, this prestigious accolade for the municipality.

In light of this achievement, Mayor Hector L. Ong underscored the enduring significance of upholding the highest standards of local governance and public service in the Municipality of Laoang.

𝐃𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐦 𝐖𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐞

The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board - Region VIII (Eastern Visayas Region) 𝑚𝑜𝑡𝑢 𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑜 issued 𝐖𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐨. 𝐑𝐁 𝐕𝐈𝐈𝐈-𝟐𝟒 on 05 November 2024, granting a P30 daily minimum wage increase across all sectors. This brings the daily minimum wage rates to P405 to P435 in different sectors/industries upon full implementation of all tranches. The Regional Board also approved a P500 monthly increase for kasambahays under 𝐖𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐍𝐨. 𝐑𝐁 𝐕𝐈𝐈𝐈-𝐃𝐖-𝟎𝟒 across all areas in the region bringing the sector’s monthly minimum wage to a range of P5,500 to P6,000.
