Everyone has issues regarding mental health or knows people around them who do. This September 10, join us as we give our support to those whose struggles fail to be recognized in our fight against mental health issues.

Over 700,000 people die from su***de every year, having recently becoming the third leading cause of death among 15 to 29-year-olds worldwide with more than half of these cases occurring within low to middle income countries like the Philippines.

Recognizing the severity of this issue, the International Association for Su***de Prevention (IASP), in concert with the World Health Organization (WHO) established the World Su***de Prevention Day in 2003, legitimizing hitherto unaddressed concerns over mental health and becoming a primary concern for many countries aound the globe.

The NVC Eureka Aklan (B) bagged a total of nine medals: 2 golds, 3 silvers, and 4 bronzes during the recently concluded Regional Invitational Arnis Tournament held on August 25-26, 2024 at CityMall Roxas Avenue, Roxas City. Competing with exceptional participating schools from across Region VI, the NVC representatives victoriously secured shining medals in the tournament.

Today, August 30th, we proudly celebrate the National Press Freedom Day, a significant occasion officially declared by President Rodrigo Duterte in 2022 as a commemoration of Marcelo H. del Pilar who is widely regarded as the Father of Philippine Journalism.

This working holiday serves as a reminder that a free and independent press plays a significant role in our society and that there is therefore a crucial need to safeguard journalistic integrity and protect the rights of journalists.

It reminds us to recognize and support the invaluable contributions of the media in upholding truth and transparency and the struggles that journalists endure to bring veracity into the limelight.

It was a joint effort between the Provincial Government of Aklan, the Aklan Provincial Youth Development Office, and the Aklan Provincial Human Resources and Management Office.

National Dog Day is celebrated every August 26 to show love and appreciation for all breeds of dog all over the world.

It was founded in 2004 by animal welfare advocate and pet lifestyle expert Colleen Paige. The date of August 26th was chosen because it was the date that Paige’s family adopted her first dog “Sheltie” from a local animal shelter when she was 10 years old.

Many people celebrate it by spending extra time with their dogs. Some bring their "man's best friends" on walks, some take their canines to participate in dog shows that day, and some post pictures of their pups on social media.

Dogs are loyal pets and provide emotional support to reduce the feelings of loneliness in people. Dogs also offer unconditional love that is shown to improve mental well-being.

It’s also a day to raise awareness about the number of dogs that need to be rescued and adopted. Countless dogs in shelters are waiting for a loving home, and this day encourages everyone to consider adopting instead of buying, to give these animals a second chance at life.

This day reminds us that dogs are not just animals or pets but beloved members of our families, bringing joy, comfort, and companionship into our lives. Therefore, let's give them as much love as we do to our fellow humans.

Every last Monday of August, National Heroes Day is celebrated by us Filipinos to give tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of our country's heroes. It is recognized as a public holiday all over the country through the Republic Act No. 9492. The patriotism of our heroes led to the freedom and independence of our nation, etching their names with pride in history books never to be forgotten. Today, we highlight their legacy and honor their admirable deeds for our nation's liberty.

From the revolutionary leaders during the Philippine Revolution to the modern day heroes, both well-known and unsung, they deserve to be honored with the same admiration and reverence. Communities all over the country unite in honoring the legendary heroes of our nation. From bringing flowers to their resting place, to watching educational films about their heroic doings, we continue to remember the importance of their sacrifices. Their legacy lives in the hearts and minds of the Filipino people, carrying their memories with pride knowing that bravery and courage run in our roots.

National Heroes Day is not just reminiscing the past, but is also a celebration of heroism that continues to thrive in the present day. This is a reminder that valiance does not only happen in the battlefield, but is also found in acts of courage, kindness, and service in our everyday lives. When calamities, catastrophes, and hardships arise, it is us who save our fellow countrymen. May this day remind us of our heroes as we strive to be better and noble citizens of our country.
