Para matugunan ang malawakang epekto ng El Niño at nagbabadyang La Niña sa buong bansa, nagsasagawa ang Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ng komprehensibong programa sa ilalim ng 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗟𝗔𝗪𝗔 (𝗟𝗼𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀) 𝗮𝘁 𝗕𝗜𝗡𝗛𝗜 (𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗡𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱).
Ang proyektong ito ay hindi lamang epektibo sa panahon ng tagtuyot, kundi maging sa panahon ng matinding tag-ulan na makatutulong sa bawat komunidad na lubhang naaapektuhan ng climate change.
Ang Project LAWA at BINHI ay patuloy na tumutugon at gumagawa ng iba’t ibang estratehiya upang patuloy na bigyan ng kapasidad ang mga apektadong komunidad na maging mas matatag at mas handa sa umiiral na epekto ng El Niño at sa nalalapit na La Niña sa bansa.
Narito ang ilan sa mga hakbang sa ilalim ng Project LAWA at BINHI:
✅ Addressing Water Scarcity Caused by El Niño
✅ Mitigating Floods During La Niña
✅ Sustainable Solutions for Long-Term Impact
Ang Project LAWA at BINHI ay nagsisilbing modelo sa pag-aangkop sa climate change na nakatuon sa seguridad sa tubig at pagkain at nagbibigay ng mga kasangkapan na kinakailangan ng mga komunidad para makatawid sa masamang epekto ng climate change.
