On December 14, 2024, Southland College Information Technology students attended DevFest 2024, an event that promises to inspire and educate the next generation of tech leaders. This prestigious event was made possible through the invitation of Ms. Alyssa Melody Paglumotan, an esteemed alumna of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program and the current Communications Co-Lead of Google Developer Groups (GDG) Bacolod. This annual conference, led and organized by GDG Bacolod, took place at the Santuario de La Salle within the University of St. La Salle (USLS) in Bacolod.
The conference was attended by a diverse audience, including student developers, innovators, and tech enthusiasts from across Negros and neighboring islands. Attendees enjoyed a full day of enriching experiences, featuring a series of enlightening sessions and hands-on workshops. Industry leaders and experienced professionals shared their extensive expertise and passion for technology, covering a wide range of topics such as comprehensive digital marketing solutions and the GDG platform, which fosters engagement and connection among members of the tech community.
Throughout the day, participants were inspired by the wealth of information presented by industry leaders and experienced professionals. The sessions not only highlighted the latest trends and innovations in technology but also emphasized the importance of community and collaboration in the tech field. Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions, participate in discussions, and network with peers, creating an atmosphere of shared vision.
DevFest 2024 was a resounding success, providing a platform for students and professionals to come together, share ideas, and learn from each other. The event served as a testament to the power of collaboration and community in driving innovation and progress in the tech industry.
