The City Government of Kabankalan, led by Mayor Benjie Miranda, congratulates the city’s young athletes for their outstanding performance in the 2025 Provincial Sports and Athletic Meet.

As of 10:00 AM today, January 31, 2025, the final and official medal standings show Kabankalan’s representatives securing a remarkable ten (10) gold, four (4) silver, and thirteen (13) bronze medals across various sporting events.

The last day of the Provincial Sports Meet is set on February 1, 2025, in Bacolod City.

The City Government of Kabankalan, led by Mayor Benjie Miranda, distributed financial aid totaling PHP 2.4 million as part of the city’s Food Program Towards Food Security and Safety. Funded through the Gender and Development (GAD) budget, the initiative benefited 80 hog raisers, each receiving PHP 30,000 to support local hog raising and strengthen the city’s livestock industry.

The financial assistance was distributed on January 30, 2025, at the City Function Hall, with Mayor Benjie Miranda leading the event. In his message, the mayor highlighted the program’s sustainability, reminding beneficiaries of their obligation to return six piglets, ensuring support for other breeders and the initiative’s long-term impact.

This program aims to revitalize the local pig supply following last year’s Swine Fever outbreak, contributing to the recovery and growth of Kabankalan’s swine industry while promoting food security and economic stability.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), through its Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) Kabuhayan Project, and the City Government of Kabankalan, through the “Agro-Integrated Climate Mitigating Project for High Income Generations in the Highlands” (AIM HIGH) Project, turned over ₱12.696300.50 million to farmers' associations in Kabankalan City on January 22 at the Demo Farm.

The turnover ceremony was led by City Mayor Benjie Miranda, with assistance from Elma Bachata, PESO Manager; Ricky Muscosa, City Agriculturist; and Engr. Ariel Canonoy, Engineer II.

Valued at ₱12,696,300.50, the AIM HIGH Project and DILP Kabuhayan Project will benefit 12 associations across Kabankalan City. The funding comprises ₱10,000,000.25 from DOLE and a counterpart contribution of ₱2,696,300.25 from the Local Government of Kabankalan City.

The City Health Office (CHO) of Kabankalan played a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of thousands of attendees during the 49th Sinulog sa Kabankalan Festival, held from January 10 to 19, 2025.

Health monitoring stations were strategically set up across festival venues to provide immediate assistance to the general public.

Over the course of the major events, including the Grand Tribal Competition and Mardi-Gras Parade, first aid teams treated numerous patients, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all festival-goers, said Dr. Elizabeth Junto.

The 49th Sinulog sa Kabankalan Festival, held from January 10 to 19, 2025, showcased not just cultural brilliance but also the unwavering dedication of the Philippine Red Cross-Kabankalan provided first aid during the 49th Sinulog sa Kabankalan Festival, held from January 10 to 19, 2025.

Their selfless efforts were most evident during key events, with 10 patients treated at the Grand Tribal Competition and 39 receiving medical attention during the Mardi Gras Competition.

Mayor Benjie Miranda praised the exceptional volunteerism of Red Cross-Kabankalan, acknowledging their vital contribution to the smooth and successful celebration of this year’s festival.

The City Government of Kabankalan, led by Mayor Benjie Miranda, extended PHP 800,000 as financial ssistance to victims of the Mount Kanlaon eruption.

The checks were handed over to Mayor Ella Garcia Yulo of Moises Padilla, Mayor Rex Jalando-on of La Carlota City, and Mayor Alme Rhummyla G. Nicor-Mangilimutan of La Castellana .

Mayor Miranda personally visited the Municipal Hall of Moises Padilla, La Carlota City Hall, and the Municipal Hall of La Castellana on January 22, 2025.

Mayor Miranda stated, "In response to the challenges our neighbors face, we are reminded of the importance of supporting our neighboring towns."

Eighty-eight job seekers achieved their employment dreams during the JOB FAIR SA SINULOG 2025 held on January 17, 2025, at the K-Center in Kabankalan City.

City Administrator Atty. Mac Lord O. Zafra, representing Mayor Benjie Miranda, reaffirmed the city's commitment to creating employment opportunities and improving the livelihood of Kabankalan's residents.

The collaborative efforts of the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) - Kabankalan, headed by PESO Manager Elma B. Bachita, along with partner companies, attracted 330 job seekers. A total of 21 local companies and 7 overseas employment agencies participated in the fair.

Also present at the event were Floramie B. Magbato, representative of the Department of Migrant Workers; Pacita L. Caile, President of PESOMAP; and Ronie Pineda, DOLE NOFO Representative.

Fifty Kabalikat volunteers were at the forefront of ensuring safety and providing support during the 49th Sinulog sa Kabankalan Festival, which took place from January 10 to 19, 2025.

Mayor Benjie Miranda expressed his deep gratitude to the Kabalikat volunteers for their selfless contributions.

Their role in the event showcased the spirit of bayanihan, as they worked alongside the Philippine National Police, the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), local authorities, and the Philippine Red Cross-Kabankalan Chapter.

These dedicated volunteers helped monitor crowds, provided first aid, and addressed any potential safety concerns.

"Their support reflects the true spirit of bayanihan, and we are grateful for their invaluable contributions," the Mayor said.

The City Government of Kabankalan will provide ₱12,000 cash assistance to senior citizens aged 80 to 84 who will celebrate their birthdays between January and March 2025.

This initiative is made possible through the efforts of Mayor Benjie M. Miranda, Vice Mayor Miguel Zayco, and the City Council, to support the elderly residents of Kabankalan.

According to Atty. Mac Lord Zafra, City Administrator, this program, implemented by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), is open to both pensioners and non-pensioners.

Senior citizens or their immediate family members are encouraged to visit the CSWDO at City Hall and submit the following required documents:

The festivities highlighted the city’s devotion to their spirituality , rich cultural heritage and resilience,attracting residents and visitors from near and far.

Mayor Benjie Miranda expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming public support, particularly from the Kabankalanons who embraced the celebration. “This turnout is a statement of unity and support to my Administration,” he remarked.

Rey Cordero, Chairman of the Kabankalan Sinulog Foundation, Inc., commended the collective effort behind the event’s success. “All the hard work, extensive meetings, and meticulous planning were truly worthwhile,” he said, lauding the dedication of the organizers, performers, and volunteers who brought the celebration to life.

Meanwhile, PLTCol. Roberto Indiape, Jr., Chief of the PNP Kabankalan, reported the estimated number of the crowd and further he said, the event was generally peaceful, crediting the effective collaboration between local authorities and the community. “Thanks to the cooperation of everyone.” he affirmed.

The Sinulog sa Kabankalan remains more than just a festival—it is a heartfelt celebration of culture, unity, and faith leaving participants with unforgettable memories.
