Mobilize! Gather your forces! The enemy is besieging Jerusalem. They will strike Israel’s leader in the face with a rod. But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, are only a small village among all the people of Judah. Yet a ruler of Israel, whose origins are in the distant past, will come from you on my behalf. The people of Israel will be abandoned to their enemies until the woman in labor gives birth. Then at last His fellow countrymen will return from exile to their own land. And He will stand to lead His flock with the Lord’s strength, in the majesty of the name of the Lord His God. Hope for the Hopeless
“Even from the stump of a dead tree, God can cause a green shoot to grow.”

More than 2,000 years ago, Judah faced threats from powerful nations such as Assyria, and internal divisions weakened the kingdom. The Prophet Isaiah spoke words of hope to all people of Judah, proclaiming the coming of a King. This King would descend from the lineage of Jesse, the father of David.

The scripture uses the image of a dead stump to symbolize hopelessness. The tender shoot represents new growth, while the roots serve as the foundation for the branch to produce fruit.

Hope for Restoration

The Lord loves the Israelites despite their disobedience to Him. Did you know that because of the Israelite's disobedience, God has extended His grace to us Gentile Christians?

The reason why God extended His grace is for us to also experience the love of God that He showed to the people of Israel.

And the Bible says in Psalm 122:6, “God will bless those who are praying for Jerusalem the capital of Israel.”
