God loves those who are poor, but “poor” is not limited to finances. Some of the wealthiest people are unable to see their poverty and fail to see their need for the Lord. If you lack patience with your kids, love from your loved ones, desire for purposeful work, or self-control, recognize the need for His grace and He will love you and bless you. Where do you get your enrichment? Seeking God's presence in your life will certainly bring wealth beyond measurement.

God explains to His people how silly it is for them to put their hope into a man-made idol. He admonishes them for not reflecting on what they are doing. Why would a wood figure made by hand be able to offer salvation? How many things do we put our trust in just because someone else tells us this is a sure thing? We have to use our ability to reason to help us find truth in our lives.

These traits are qualities we desire in a best friend, yet they can be difficult to find. Is it possible to find all of them in the same person? These characteristics are cultivated over time and are found by seeking the Holy Spirit. Are you spending time with the Spirit to offer these same qualities to your friends?

As much as we should desire to be kind and giving, sometimes it can be difficult to do so in our current culture. We want to be good but don't want to be taken advantage of. Like many things in life, this requires a delicate balance of assertiveness and servitude. If you are heavy on assertiveness, try being a bit more subservient today by allowing others to express themselves more. If you are in need of more assertiveness, try speaking up today, either by asking questions or praising someone.

If you're a believer, you know that non-believers surround us all the time. Instead of being influenced by others to do ungodly things, be a light to others by demonstrating godly behavior. We all have a nemesis, or perhaps a not-so-favorite person. Instead of avoiding them or being short with them, give them a compliment or simply say something nice. In other words, be a light!

We earn many things in life, such as money, respect, recognition and love. However, this is not the case with salvation. We cannot perform enough good deeds or say a magic number of prayers in order to be welcomed into Heaven. Salvation alone comes through faith and recognition that God alone is the only and true God.

When it comes to giving money back to God, He doesn't care about the amount; instead, He cares about your heart and your intentions. It's easy to become annoyed by irritating comments, especially if they're made by people on your questionable list. They tend to make us think, do, or say irrational things. Your day can then become unpleasant without you even knowing. However, others around you like your spouse, kids, or parents will be in tune. Instead of transferring your temper or irrationality, try to stay calm. The best way is to say a prayer asking God for patience within you and peace surrounding you.

Jesus' death on the cross and His subsequent rise is wonderful news. With this comes the hope that we, too, can join Christ where there is no more pain and suffering. Until that day, we must show the world the light that Jesus brings to us. Yes, it can become tiring and can be a heavy burden to bear, but, oh what a joy it is to carry the torch that brings light to so many others.

Leadership books state that the highest level is one that shows humility. Above all, God loves it when we serve those less fortunate than ourselves. If you feel called today, take the time and help someone out, serving and honoring them in doing so.

Thankfully, God reminds us that we can go to Him when we MESS UP and this amazing great exchange happens. He swaps our brokenness for beauty. It really feels too good to be true! That’s the deal God made when we sent Jesus to die in our place. We now can be considered blessed or happy when we go to God with our sins! God’s grace is available to us even in the midst of our worst parenting mistakes.

On this special day dedicated to our teachers, we ask for your blessings upon them. We thank you for giving them the knowledge, skills, and passion to inspire and educate us.

We pray that you continue to guide them in their noble profession and help them overcome the challenges they face in molding young minds. May they always find joy in their work, and feel appreciated for their tireless efforts.

We ask that you grant them strength, wisdom, and patience to deal with every situation that arises. We pray that they continue to touch the hearts and minds of their students and inspire them to become the best versions of themselves. Amen.

The emphasis here is not on losing your life and all of your possessions, but rather on turning your focus away from those possessions. We sometimes lose sight of the important things in life such as strengthening the bond with your parents or mending wounds with friends. Maybe it has been a long time since you shared a special moment with your brothers or sisters. We become so busy in life that our priorities can be flipped upside down. We must change our way of thinking and prioritize in a healthy and Godly way by putting God, our spouse and family first.

We all possess some degree of selfishness. The important thing is to acknowledge it and let others know of your intentions. People will be more understanding if you reveal it rather than hide it. If you feel strong enough to mirror God's ways, change your direction by giving time and money to those less fortunate than yourself. If you don't feel strong enough, ask God for the strength.

Do you recall a situation where the harder you tried to mend something, the worse it became? Sometimes it's a relationship where you try to say and do the right things only to make the other person upset. No matter what the situation, remember that God is in control, not you. When you're feeling powerless, God will empower you. The next time you're in a situation like this, say a prayer to reveal your weakness and acknowledge that God is in control.

The Christian life is never stagnant. Once we accept Jesus we must continue to be vigilant in the choice to follow after Him. As we grow in our understanding of who He is, the Bible, and grow strong ties to other Believers then deep roots of faith grow in our lives. When we are rooted in our faith we are able to stand strong when we go through the storms of this life.
