WHAT IS ?
is a team of experts offering workshops on journalism and communication. It regularly offers an intensive but enjoyable workshop in Student Journalism in three tracks: Print, Radio and TV Journalism. A student may choose one or all of the tracks. The trainers will attempt to make the students be like professional journalists.
specifically aims
to:
1. Equip the participants with the knowledge and skills in either Print,
Radio or TV Journalism;
2. Prepare them to practice their chosen journalism track in school or for
competitions;
3. Expose them to the workings and techniques of professional
journalists. Learning from media professionals with decades-long of practice in media industry will certainly be a different and rare learning experience to the students. will not just give the participants a glimpse but also a taste of how it is like to be a journalist in the real-world. WHAT ARE THE TRACKS? PRINT JOURNALISM
1. Basic Journalism (Elementary)
This is an introductory course on News Writing, Headline Writing, Feature Writing, Editorial and Opinion Writing, Copy Reading, and Layout. A session on Introduction to Photojournalism will be added as a bonus.
2. Advanced Journalism (Elementary and Secondary)
This course will toughen the command of the participants on News Writing, Headline Writing Feature Writing, Editorial and Opinion Writing, Sports Writing, Science and Technology Writing, Layout and Publishing, Photojournalism and Captioning. The participants will “publish” a newspaper at the end of the workshop. NOTE: Participants must have undergone a journalism workshop already. RADIO BROADCASTING
1. Basic Radio Broadcasting (Elementary)
2. Basic Radio Broadcasting (Secondary)
The participants will be introduced to the principles and the practice of broadcasting for radio and script writing for radio. They will be trained to speak like any radio broadcaster should. They will be taught to edit audio files, too, and how to use music and other sound effects. They will be made to produce a five-minute radio newscast at the end of the workshop. TV BROADCASTING

The participants will be exposed to the art of television newscasting and script writing. They will be taught how to perform before a video camera. Participants will be made to produce a five-minute newscast at the end of the workshop. RESOURCE PERSONS

REXCEL JOHN SORZA
He was with GMA Network, Inc. for more than 15 years and recently held the position of Program Manager for GMA Iloilo News and Public Affairs. He was the person behind the top-rating ARANGKADA, ANG TRIP MO KUN AGA and RATSADA news programs. Prior to working for GMA Network, he was into print and online journalism as a correspondent and contributor to international publications like Islam Online (a top Islam and Muslim news agency based in Cairo, Egypt), SciDev.net (a leading science news agency based in the UK) and Union of Catholic Asian News (a Bangkok-based Catholic news agency). He was also a correspondent of TODAY national broadsheet for more than five years. He was a reporter and later chief editor of Iloilo community newspaper The Visayas Examiner. For his print journalism works, he won fellowships to attend international workshops and conferences in Malaysia, Japan and Canada. He was a Runner-up winner in the Third World Water Forum Water Journalists’ Competition held in Kyoto, Japan. He also had stints as reporter and anchor of DYSI Super Radyo Iloilo for two years. He studied B.A. Broadcast Communication-Management at UP Visayas. He was the Resource Person of the Department of Education’s National Training of Trainers on TV Newscasting and Broadcasting participated by School Paper Advisers and Coaches last January 2016. He served as Judge in the 2016 National Schools Press Conference held in Koronadal City. GERTHRODE CHARLOTTE TAN - MABILOG
She was the face of top local newscast RATSADA for 16 years as its news anchor. She also supervised the production of the news programs of GMA Network in Bacolod and Cagayan de Oro as Cluster Head for the Visayas and Mindanao of GMA News and Public Affairs. She finished M.A. Teaching English as a Second Language from UP Visayas. She graduated B.A. Broadcast Communication from UP Visayas. HYACINTH BANGERO
She was the Iloilo Producer of the national news program BALITA PILIPINAS of GMA News TV. She was also the Associate Producer of ARANGKADA, ANG TRIP MO KUN AGA! She finished her B.A. Mass Communication, Magna Cum Laude, West Visayas State University. She is currently pursuing her M.A. in Journalism degree from WVSU. Official page :
