Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo – DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program successfully conducted Social Preparation Activities for the 2025 Target Participants. These activities included the SLP Orientation and Profiling, aimed at equipping participants with the knowledge and tools they need to embark on their journey toward sustainable livelihoods.

This activity was facilitated by Implementing PDO Jessah Beth Gonzales and Aissa Lapi-an and Monitoring PDO Mary Nathalie Cometa. Also attended by 4Ps Municipal Link Des Denaque, for their unwavering support and commitment to empowering our community.

Harvesting the Fruits of Hard Work in the Season of Sharing

The Women United Through Handcrafted Lace and Embroidery SLP Association (WUTHLE), organized through the Department of Social Welfare and Development - Sustainable Livelihood Program, joyfully celebrates the spirit of giving with their annual profit-sharing in Santa Barbara, Iloilo.

The 15 association members and 7 non-members receive their monthly salary on the 15th and 30th every month. This year, the members were fortunate to receive a profit-sharing amount of Php 13,353 each, while the non-members also received a share.

The association, funded in 2019, has been empowering women through handcrafted lace and embroidery, developing sustainable livelihoods and promoting women's empowerment. Today, they celebrate the power of unity, hard work, and generosity this Season of Sharing./NAGEbojo/ Sheila Roma

Celebrating Christmas with the Spirit of Giving🌟🥳

The Salvacion SLP Association of Balasan, Iloilo marked a double celebration with its 1st Anniversary celebration and Christmas party, highlighted by a meaningful Profit Sharing activity.

Each member received a cash share of P800.00 along with grocery items worth P115.00, symbolizing the fruits of their hard work.

The event also served as a Thanksgiving and Wellness Activity, promoting positivity, collaboration, and inclusivity among members.

7 municipalities in Iloilo receive Php8M livelihood assistance

Iloilo Province — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Sustainable Livelihood Program distributed Php8,130,000 in livelihood assistance to 542 individuals from the municipalities of Oton, Tigbauan, Tubungan, Igbaras, Guimbal, Miagao, and San Joaquin.

This initiative aims to enhance the livelihood capabilities of disadvantaged communities by providing start-up capital, enabling participants to purchase raw materials, small tools, and other essential facilities to launch or expand micro-enterprises.

"This Seed Capital Fund from the SLP is given only once, which means it is a one-time capital for you to take care of and grow,” Assistant Secretary for Specialized Programs under Operations Group, Florentino Y. Loyola Jr., emphasized in his message during the distribution.

Each participant received a one-time grant of Php15,000, to support a wide range of entrepreneurial ventures, including sari-sari stores, rice wholesaling, goat farming, vegetable, food vending, and many more small businesses.

The payout ceremony was attended by Vice Mayor Lugen Ortilano on behalf of Atty. Virgilio T. Teruel Mayor of Municipality of Tigbauan; Hon. Richard Garin Mayor of Municipality of Miagao.

Present during the payout were the Regional Director of DSWD Field Office VI, Arwin O. Razo, SLP Regional Coordinator Juliet D. Besa; Iloilo Provincial Coordinator Anthony C. The Balasan Federation of SLPAs Annual Meeting, Team Building, and Christmas Party was successfully held at Palm Garden Resort, Carles, Iloilo.

The purpose of activity was to build rapport, camaraderie, and teamwork among the members as they shared their respective SLP journeys. It also served as an opportunity for the participants to relax, have fun, and bond beyond their regular responsibilities.

Additionally, the event became a kick-off session for brainstorming and planning their next steps forward.

A Guide to Becoming a Prepared Entrepreneur 👩‍🏫👨‍💼

DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program aims to mold and equip individuals into successful entrepreneurs. In line with this, a successful capability-building training on Entrepreneurial and Financial Management, with a focus on Simple Bookkeeping, was conducted in the municipalities of Barotac Viejo and San Rafael, Iloilo on December 11, 2024.

This initiative, in partnership with the DTI-Negosyo Center, benefited 8 Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs) in Barotac Viejo and 5 SLPAs in San Rafael. December 11, 2024 | DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program Cabatuan, Iloilo - The Financial Literacy, Pricing and Costing, Marketing Strategies, and page Creation Seminar was successfully conducted by DTI Business Counsellors Claire M. A successful training session was conducted for the Sustainable Livelihood Program Associations (SLPAs) in the Municipality of Calinog,Iloilo; focusing on the theme: "Nurturing Mental Wellness and Fostering Conflict-Free Relationships." The training aimed to equip SLPA members with essential knowledge and practical strategies to prioritize mental health, enhance emotional well-being, and build stronger, harmonious interpersonal relationships. The session was conducted by the expertise of our resource person, Ms. Ruby Defensor-Borra.
