The University of San Agustin (USA) Publications (USA Publications, informally known as USA Pub) is the official student press corps of the University of San Agustin in Iloilo City, Philippines. Originally a high school publication of Colegio de San Agustin de Iloilo (former name of USA), it was founded on 1928 with its first recorded publication released on August 1928. The press corps publishes

The Augustinian Mirror (magazine), The Augustinian (newspaper), Irong-irong (literary journal), Dingding ni Gusting (community wall newspaper), and other special issues. Today it is one of the most awarded college press corps in the Philippines. It has received its first national distinction when The Augustinian Mirror was adjudged as one of the three best-edited school magazines in the country during the late 1950s.

Augustinians Compete in Electrifying KaSanAg Festival 2024 Musical Showdown

The stage lit up as talented Augustinians faced-off in a thrilling Tatak Agustino: Musical Competition during the KaSanAg Festival 2024, bringing their passion and creativity to life and blending rhythm with power in a vibrant showcase of music, culture, and Augustinian spirit at the USA Gymnasium, November 13.

Participants filled the venue with joyous melodies and entertaining feats after showcasing their vocal prowess, catching the hearts of the audience and judges while keeping them entertained.

The College of Commerce (COC) hailed as the champion in the Vocal Solo (Pop) category, while the College of Nursing Nutrition and Dietetics (CNND) conquered the crowd in the Vocal duet (Pop).

The University of San Agustin Student Government (USASG) orchestrated the Literary and Vocal Solo (Classical) segments of the KaSanag Festival at the USA Auditorium, November 13.

Highlighting the abilities of the participants, the event allowed students to showcase their talents and bring entertainment to the onlookers as they captured the stage with their resiliency.

Moreover, the literary contests categories were composed of english oration, extemporaneous speech, binalaybay, talumpati, and dagliang talumpati, which all underscored the core values of Saint Augustine.

The University of San Agustin - Student Commission on Elections (SCOMEL) conducted the 2024 Special and Semestral Elections, at the USA Main Campus, November 13.

The Special Election was orchestrated to fill vacancies left from the previous term, while the Semestral Election welcomes new first-year students into representation.

"The USA Semestral and Special Elections embody the students' right to suffrage and their role in shaping their university community. [...] Anchored in Augustinian values, we believe that by voting, students contribute to a more connected and vibrant university environment," shared Tricia V. Gabor, the chairperson of the USA Student Commission on Elections (SCOMEL) for A.Y. 2024-2025.

In addition, the elections were held in assigned rooms that served as precincts for each college department and commenced at 9:00 a.m. before closing at 5:00 p.m. and was then followed by the counting of ballots.

Departmental teams came together to showcase their skills, teamwork, and Augustinian spirit in a friendly competition as the Intramural exhibition games kicked off during the KaSanAg Festival, at the USA outside court, field, and tennis court, November 13.

The event brought an energetic start to the week as students, faculty, and staff gathered to support teams in displaying their athletic abilities across multiple venues through basketball, volleyball, soccer, and tennis games, transforming campus grounds into a lively arena of camaraderie and competition.

Each match displayed not only physical skill but also a deep sense of unity and sportsmanship.

To exhibit talent and stories that radiate drama, horror, and mystery, several colleges from the University of San Agustin (USA) competed in the Tatak Agustino: Dulaang Agustino, at the USA Auditorium, November 13.

The College of Liberal Arts, Sciences and Education (CLASE) was first to present their act titled "Paindis-indis,” followed by the College of Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics (CNND)’s showcase titled "Handumanan,” the College of Commerce (COC) with "Maria,” and the College of Technology (COT) with "Sikreto Rekado.”

After a wonderful display of entertaining scenarios, CNND clinched the first spot while also garnering special awards such as Best Director, Best in Design, and Best Story.

Moreover, CLASE emerged second, while COC bagged third place, also displaying their magnificence in the field of theatre.

San Agustin Golden Eagles (SAGE) spearheaded the very first Esports Intramurals 2024, at the Dolce Garcia Hall, November 13.

The diverse lineup of games consisted of League of Legends, Tekken, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Valorant, Call of Duty: Mobile, and League of Legends: Wild Rift.

Moreover, the Esports Intramurals serve as a preview of what is in store for the upcoming university-wide Intramurals, engaging students to look forward to even more exciting matches and opportunities for camaraderie.

In accordance with the celebration of the KaSanag Festival highlighting the birth anniversary of St. Augustine of Hippo, a Eucharistic Mass was held at the USA Chapel, November 13.

Graced by the presence of priests and sisters from different congregations, students gathered to reflect upon their faith.

"Embracing our own vocation as pilgrims of hope reminds us that this is indeed a journey of faith, […] a path that leads to a deeper fufillment," expressed Fr. Jebie Jugarap, O.S.A., director of the Center for Religious Studies.

Moreover, today also marks the Vocation Month of the Order and Jugarap's third year as a priest.

𝗨𝗦𝗔 𝗖𝗮𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲𝘀 𝗩𝗼𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆

In line with the 1670th birthday of St. Augustine, the University of San Agustin (USA) Campus Ministry held a Vocation Forum and Campaigns for senior high school students at various locations throughout the campus, November 13.

The first part of the program consisted of a forum that highlighted the goal of knowing and embracing the vocation that God called upon, which is important in serving as a guide in facing challenges and making critical decisions.

"Vocation is a call to follow God, [...] to serve, and love him and others around us. For you, students, it is important because whatever life you are called upon, you can respond to the needs of time with God as your guiding light," stated Sr. Laiden Tabeza of the Augustinian Sisters Servants of Jesus and Mary.

All participants then proceeded to the pavilion where different congregations of priests and sisters encouraged students to be part of their community as a way to connectedly celebrate our shared mission and values.

𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲, also known as Augustine of Hippo, who was a theologian, a philosopher, and a bishop whose influential writings and teachings, such as "Confessions" and “The City of God,” continued to leave a lasting impact on the development of Western Christianity through faith and human experience.

His most quoted line, "You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You," encapsulates his profound understanding of the human search for meaning and purpose.

To show support and unity with Augustinians taking the Philippine Nursing Licensure Examination (PNLE), the College of Nursing held a candle-lighting ceremony, "Kaangtanan: Lighting the Path to Solidarity," University Field, October 8.

Reverend Father John Louis S. Ricamora led the event with a reading from the Gospel and offered a blessing to the PNLE 2024 Augustinian examinees.

Moreover, College of Nursing, Nutrition and Dietetics (CNND) Dean Louie P. Hijalda, Nursing Academic Supervisor Bernadette A. Gamosa, along with faculty and staff, expressed encouragement and solidarity with the examinees.
