Sharing some highlights from Day 1 of our workshop.

Prof. Kevin Piamonte, Mr. Jose Ruel Garcia, and Mr. Kenneth Dela Cruz meet the participants for story and script consultation. The participants presented their film treatments and scripts for further development.

Prof. Bobby Rodriguez, a graduate of the Busan Asian Film School (AFiS), and currently taking his PhD in Development Communication, talked about film producing, sharing his experiences in producing several award winning Ilonggo films that were screened both in local and international film festivals.

Prof. Julie Prescott, a graduate of Contemporary Literature and Film from Manchester Metropolitan University, shared her critically reviewed film, Isa Ka Pungpong nga Rosas and her experiences in directing this film. Prof. Prescott emphasized the importance of pre-production in the whole filmmaking process.

𝐅𝐈𝐋𝐌 𝐀𝐒 𝐏𝐄𝐃𝐀𝐆𝐎𝐆𝐘 is a public service initiative spearheaded by the University of the Philippines Visayas. This interdisciplinary film workshop celebrates the convergence of diverse academic perspectives through the powerful medium of film. The workshop commenced with a lecture by Prof. Nick Deocampo of the UP Film Institute, followed by comprehensive virtual workshops led by Prof. Kevin Piamonte and Mr. Jose Ruel Garcia.

From July 17 to July 20, the Film as Pedagogy workshop series will host its first UPV Miagao Summer Film Camp at the UPV Campus in Miagao, Iloilo. This event will welcome 30 participants from various universities in Western Visayas. The 3-day workshop will immerse participants in topics covering story development and film production, ultimately recognizing the potential of film as a powerful pedagogical tool. The goal is to encourage participants to explore the dynamic relationship between visual storytelling and education across diverse disciplines.

ERK Film Production proudly supports this initiative by UP Visayas as we continue to advocate for the movement of film for education.

📣 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐁𝐨𝐛! 🎉

Our very own ERK Film Production company producer Bobby Rodriguez has been accepted to present his academic paper at The Asian Conference on Media Communication and Film in Kyoto, Japan this coming October 15-19, 2024. This is organized by The International Academic Forum (IAFOR).

Founded in 2009, The International Academic Forum (IAFOR) is a mission-driven politically independent non-partisan and non-profit organisation dedicated to encouraging interdisciplinary discussion, facilitating intercultural awareness and promoting international exchange, principally through educational interaction and academic research. Based in Japan, its main administrative office is in Nagoya, and its research centre is in the Osaka School of International Public Policy (OSIPP), a graduate school of Osaka University. IAFOR runs research programs and events in partnership with universities, think tanks, and other associations. Through its international, intercultural and interdisciplinary conferences, research, and publications, IAFOR is a network hub for interdisciplinary discussion across Asia and beyond.

Currently, Producer Bob is pursuing his PhD in Development Communication at the University of the Philippines Los Baños. He has also been recently conferred as UP ARTIST 1 by the Board of Regents of the University of the Philippines. Once again, congratulations Producer Bob! 🎬

📣 𝐄𝐑𝐊 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐦 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐠𝐬 𝟐 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬!

We are very happy to receive news that two of our upcoming projects have been selected by the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) CreatePH program for grants support. 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐝è which is slated to be released this year has been given a post-production grant, while 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞, 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐢𝐭 which is scheduled for principal photography early in 2025 has been given the small budget production fund. Both these projects are written and directed by our very own Kevin Pison Piamonte.

The FDCP’s CreatePHFilms Funding Program was launched to ensure that the government works with and provides support to filmmakers, producers, and distributors in all stages of filmmaking to complement their efforts to produce quality Filipino films. This is FDCP’s response to its mandate “to create assistance funds to support different stages of the production of quality films, including but not limited to film development, production, post-production, marketing, distribution, exhibition, and archiving practices in the country.”

These funds are absolutely crucial in the sustainability of regional filmmaking and ERK Film Production continues to provide logistical support for local filmmakers who have wonderful stories to tell.

We celebrate these wins with a collective thrill of a promising future for Filipino filmmaking especially for us in the regions!

Our upcoming film project “With Love, Bridgit” has been selected to a Small Budget Production Fund from FDCP’s CreatePh Program Cycle 1! This project is written and directed by Kevin Pison Piamonte and is slated to be shot in early 2025. We are excited for this film project as this will be another collaboration with several talented regional film workers, actors, and crew!

ERK is proud to co-present the Philippine directorial debut of Julie Prescott with a screen adaptation of Alice Tan-Gonzales’ Palanca-winning short story, 𝐈𝐬𝐚 𝐊𝐚 𝐏𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐬. 🌹🌹🌹

Direk Julie Prescott teams up with ERK’s homegrown talents; with the screenplay written by UP Artist Kevin Pison Piamonte and lensed by another UP Artist Rupert Quitag. Direk Julie Prescott finished her master’s degree in Literature and Film in the UK and is gearing up for her own film portfolio here in the Philippines. The film stars seasoned theater and film actress Alyana Cortum and singer-songwriter Taw Muhammad.

“𝐈𝐬𝐚 𝐊𝐚 𝐏𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐠𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐚𝐬” is a perfect experience in celebration of 𝑷𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒆 Month, and ERK is a 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒅 partner of this film.🏳️‍🌈

The University of the Philippines Arts Productivity System (APS) has officially announced the conferment of the new UP Artists by the UP Board of Regents. Congratulations to our ERK family for getting the title of UP Artists! 🎉

The University of the Philippines Arts Productivity System is aimed at encouraging outstanding productivity in the creative arts or in arts scholarship for national development. Deserving artists and arts scholars in the faculty and research staff will be conferred the title “UP Artist” with a monetary award, the UP Arts Productivity Award.

Assoc. Prof. Kevin Piamonte is UP Artist 2, Asst. Prof. Bobby Rodriguez and Mr. Ruperto Quitag are both UP Artists 1.
