Police Nab Six Persons, Seizes P1.3-Million Worth of Illegal Drug

ILOILO City – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO)-Drug Enforcement Unit anti-illegal drug operation seized approximately 195 grams of suspected ‘shabu’ worth P1,326,000 and arrested six persons around 5:30 in the afternoon, September 17, 2024 at Barangay North Baluarte, Molo, Iloilo City.

The suspects were the following:

• Alias Greg, 28, tagged as high value individual and resident of Rizal Pala-pala, City Proper, Iloilo City;
• Alias Jan-Jan, 36, tagged as street level individual (SLI) and a resident of Barangay Granada, Bacolod, City;
• Alias Toto, 32, classified as SLI and a resident of Pulupandan, Negros Occidental;
• Alias Syongo, 35, SLI and a resident of Barangay Granada, Bacolod, City;
• Alias Jerry,44, SLI and resident of Barangay Saguday, Quezon Province; and
• Alias Andres, 34, SLI and a resident of Barangay Cabugao Norte, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.

This operation was supported by personnel of Iloilo City Police Station 4; ICPO, Intelligence Unit; Iloilo City Maritime Police Station and ICPO, Special Weapons and Tactics Unit.

Western Visayas top cop, Brigadier General Jack L W***y, congratulated the combined police units for the successful operation.

“This successful operation speaks how committed we are in preventing the proliferation of illegal drugs in the region and we would like to recognized the contributions of the different stakeholders for their vigilance and for the information they’ve provided that led to these arrests,” he added.

The suspects are now under police custody and will be charged with violation of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Iloilo City Emergency Operations Center Advisory

Based on all available data and observations from PAGASA, Automatic Weather Stations, and other relevant weather forecasting sites, Iloilo City will still be experiencing cloudy skies with occasional rain showers and possible thunderstorms tomorrow, however, there is no significant amount of rainfall projected and all available data for projects only light rains for tomorrow.

There is a will be light rains prominent around 3-6 am and estimated to be intermittent throughout the day due to the prevailing Southwest Monsoon weather system. Cloud cover for Iloilo City is forecasted to peak at 62% around 8 am and is expected to have favorable weather for the rest of the day.

In this regard, due to the favorable weather conditions tomorrow September 19, 2024, the Iloilo City Emergency Operations Center does not recommend cancelation of face to face classes. However, the children and the general public are reminded to prepare for light drizzles and rain showers during the day. Remember to bring umbrellas, boots, and raincoats to keep yourself dry, and to prevent illnesses.

The general public is advised to closely monitor official weather updates, coordinate with your respective BDRRMCs and school management to ensure safety and minimize risks.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has ramped up its operations against key figures linked to high-profile cases, targeting individuals who harbored Apollo Quiboloy and the apprehension of Atty. Harry Roque, following an order of detention issued by the House of Representatives against the former Palace official for contempt.
On Tuesday, PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil announced the creation of specialized teams dedicated to these operations, emphasizing that they will be executed “efficiently and within the bounds of the law.”
The Chief, PNP said that Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Director PMGen Leo Francisco has formed a special composite team comprising CIDG and Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) officials to build a comprehensive case against individuals who shielded Quiboloy.
"We have mobilized a dedicated investigation team to pursue those who sheltered Quiboloy and obstructed justice. The PNP is fully committed to bringing these individuals to account and ensuring they face the full force of the law," Gen. Marbil stated.
According to a report from MGen Francisco, the special investigation team includes top investigators from the CIDG Major Crimes Investigation Unit, Legal Division, and
representatives from the ACG. The team’s primary tasks involve collating and verifying social media posts, publications, and other relevant information about Quiboloy; validating and authenticating these materials through the ACG; gathering statements and affidavits from PNP personnel involved in executing the warrant against Quiboloy; securing testimonies from victims and complainants and collecting documentary evidence from other agencies that may strengthen the case, among others
“The team will coordinate closely with the Police Regional Office 11 and conduct a continuous, thorough investigation to ensure a solid case. This will involve meticulous analysis of digital evidence, testimonials, and documents. We will leave no stone unturned to bring justice to those who have enabled Quiboloy's evasion," emphasized Gen. Marbil.
Simultaneously, special tracker teams led by the CIDG have been mobilized to search for Atty. Harry Roque after the House of Representatives ordered his detention for contempt. Gen. Marbil assured that these operations would be carried out with the highest level of professionalism and respect for due process.
“We have officially received the request from the House of Representatives, and the PNP is fully committed to executing this order while adhering to our core mandate. Our fundamental duty is to respect the decisions of our democratic institutions and ensure human rights are protected throughout this process,” Marbil further assured.
Marbil added that both the composite team targeting Quiboloy’s protectors and the tracker teams assigned to Atty. Roque are focused to ensuring justice is served, and the PNP will continue to provide timely updates on these operations as they progress.

LANDSLIDE INCIDENT REPORT: BRGY. QUIPOT, JANIUAY
Details: A roadside soil erosion incident occurred in Barangay Quipot, Janiuay. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Landslide Incident Report: Brgy. Canauili Tres
Date: September 17, 2024
Details: A separate landslide incident took place in Barangay Canauili Tres, resulting in one injury. A 54-year-old female sustained possible multiple fractures to her upper and lower extremities.
ACTIONS TAKEN:
1. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and Search and Rescue (SAR) teams from the Philippine Army were deployed to the site.
2. First aid was administered to the injured individual, followed by rapid extrication.
3. The patient was transported via ambulance from the Janiuay Rural Health Unit to the nearest hospital for further treatment.
4. The rescue operation in Barangay Canauili was subsequently terminated after the patient was safely evacuated.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and assess the impact of these incidents on the local community.
