𝙄𝘿𝘾-𝘽𝙀𝘿’𝙨 𝙎𝙎𝙂 𝙗𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙝𝙤𝙡𝙞𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙟𝙤𝙮 𝙩𝙤 𝙟𝙚𝙚𝙥𝙣𝙚𝙮, 𝙩𝙧𝙞𝙘𝙮𝙘𝙡𝙚 𝙙𝙧𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨

In the spirit of Christmas, the Supreme Student Government of Iloilo Doctors' College - Basic Education Department distributed relief goods to public transportation drivers as part of their Christmas Gift Giving event on December 20, 2024.

Last December 6, the SSG delivered relief goods to the victims of Brgy. San Pedro, Molo, Iloilo City fire accident where the spare relief goods that were not given were offered to the jeepney and tricycle drivers that were passing by the school premises of IDC-BED.

“While we were packing the goods for the fire victims of Brgy. San Pedro nakita namon nga damo gali ang nahatag sang mga students for them. So we decided na ihatag na lang namon sa mga drivers as an advance small Christmas treat, thanking them for their hardwork in giving us access in our everyday lives,” said Karly Rojas, SSG President 2024-2025.

The relief goods were donated by the IDC-BED learners from the preschool to the senior high school, this is also the last project of the SSG of IDC-BED this year.

Bumwelta ng serye-seryeng tatlong puntos ang SRIC mula sa mahinang depensa ng kabilang koponan kung saan sinubok ng Junior Medics humabol sa kalamangan ng katunggali, 62-52; ngunit nanatiling dehado pa rin at siyang natuldukan ang laro sa 74-59 na iskor, wagi ang SRIC.

"We [tried] our best madaog sini nga game pero may ara mga lapses nahimo ang aton mga players nga need i-correct para sa next game," pahayag ni Jojo Tabaloc, coach ng IDC-BED Junior Medics.

In celebration of the birth anniversary of national hero Graciano Lopez-Jaena, students and faculty of Iloilo Doctors College, along with workers and residents across Iloilo City, will enjoy a day-off tomorrow, December 18, as the city observes a Special Non-Working Day.

An official announcement through Executive Order No. 168 was signed by Iloilo City Mayor Jerry P. Treñas on December 17, making it effective immediately, declaring December 18, 2024, a non-working holiday in accordance with Republic Act No. 6155.

The Executive Order emphasizes that the annual holiday is deeply rooted in the cultural and historical fabric of the city and provides residents an opportunity to commemorate Lopez-Jaena's contributions to Philippine history.

Showcasing their talents, Teatro Sinag performed their original play entitled “Hukay-Ukay” for the third day of The Calle Real Christmas Night Market at Sunburst Park, Iloilo City, December 15.

Iloilo City government Meetings, Incentives, Conference & Exhibition Center (MICE) invited members of the Teatro Sinag from Iloilo Doctors’ College - Basic Education Department (IDC - BED) to deliver a performance that told the story of a girl meeting a community of vendors and discovering their struggles being part of the marginalized sectors.

“One week ang amon preparation and hindi biro ang one week for us to create this production kay mostly sa ila zero sa experience and at the same time, first time, so grateful gid ako kay committed gid sila tanan and proud gid ako sa ila because I can see that the audience is enjoying and they [the actors] are also enjoying,” said Mary Albert Macariola, Teatro Sinag’s adviser and director of the play.

This performance marked Teatro Sinag’s third production of “Hukay-Ukay” with new and old members alike; this is also the theater's first public and out of school play this school year.

Crushing the hopes and dreams of Santa Clarita International School (SCIS) to enter the finals, the Iloilo Doctors' College - Basic Education Department (IDC-BED) Secondary Basketball boys wrapped the match to a nerve-wracking 76-62 score during the 2024 ILOPRISAA semifinals playoffs at University of San Agustin (USA) Gymnasium, December 15.

High tension filled the gymnasium as one player from SCIS was suspended in second quarter after a tight fight for the ball; however, IDC-BED's shooting guard Jimuel Paredes, remained composed and led his team to a secure 45-33 lead against SCIS.

"Our players are very smart, ma-consider ko nga smart sila [by] the way they play. Makuha nila ang gamay nga adjustments nga ginatudlo [along] with Coach Jophil, diri nagbunga ang practice and drills," said Jojo Tabaloc, Head Coach of the Junior Medics.

The IDC Junior Medics will meet against the St. Robert's International College (SRIC) at USA Gymnasium for their final battle on December 17.

Fueled by determination, the Iloilo Doctors' College - Basic Education Department (IDC-BED) Junior Medics outlasted the Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenixes in a thrilling five-set battle, 26-24, 23-25, 25-10, 27-29, 15-9, at IDC Gymnasium on December 14, claiming the 2024 ILOPRISAA Volleyball Girls Championship title.

The momentum shifted in the fifth set, with both teams trading blows; Maribel Faith Beramo of the Junior Medics sealed the game with a thunderous spike, igniting a frenzy of celebration as they closed out the match 15-9, proving their dominance to HSCI.

"Worth it gid ang 5 sa aga nga practice sa kabataan, sakripisyo ni para sa ila. Ga-practice gid sila para pag guwa sa outcome sang actual game, madasig na lang namon makuha, kag ma-familiarize namon ang court, ang kontra, kung paano mag hulag ang bola, kag kung paano namon madiskartehan," said Jollen "Doss" Ferasol, Coach of IDC-BED.

With both teams trading points, the Junior Medics led by Beramo and team captain Angel Charise Torrento's powerful serves and s***s kept the HCSI on their heels in the first set, 26-24; however fueled by their own determination, the Red Phoenix rallied back to win the second set in a tense back-and-forth battle 23-25.

Invigorated by strong serves and blocks, the Junior Medics dominated the third set, 25-10, however the Red Phoenix, refusing to be denied, rallied back in the fourth set, capitalizing on errors to even the score at two sets apiece.

"Waay na 'ko iban nga motivation, ang amon lang gid ya ang dako nga salig kag pag tuo namon sa Ginoo. Ang skills ara lang na pero ang amon dedikasyon nga magdaog nangibabaw gid ya. Gapasalamat ko sa akon nga pamilya, sa amon nga manager kag coach, sa mga tawo nga gapati sa amon, sa IDC-BED, gapasalamat gid kami," expressed Torrento, outside hitter and current team captain of the Junior Medics.

The Junior Medics' victory avenged their male counterparts, who finished second to the Red Phoenixes in the boys' championship.

𝙃𝙎𝘾𝙄 𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙄𝘿𝘾, 3-0, 𝙗𝙖𝙜𝙨 𝙜𝙤𝙡𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙫𝙤𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙮𝙗𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙚

Playing tooth and nail for the gold, Hua Siong College of Iloilo's (HSCI) top-notch strength commanded victory against Iloilo Doctors' College - Basic Education Department (IDC-BED), 25-20, 25-18, 25-19, during ILOPRISAA 2024 Secondary Boys Volleyball Championship Round at IDC Gymnasium, December 14.

Leaving them no room to breathe, HSCI's well-structured movements shattered the golden hopes of IDC-BED in the last set.

"Teamwork and pagpakita sang best in every practices ang amon strategy. We're making our past mistakes sa game as motivation para ma-improve amon self, as well nga magdaog, which we claimed," said Richard Besorio, opener of HSCI.

HSCI took an early lead with three points through offensive spikes, taking advantage of the Junior Medics' weak floor defenses; IDC remained dignified to narrow the gap, however, the Red Phoenixes concluded the first set with blazing performance securing a 25-20 victory.

Capitalizing on IDC’s flimsy blockades, HSCI took advantage in their opponents distorted system of defense during the second and third set; Junior Medics' footing had all disappeared as HSCI's dumps and quick attacks dominated the game, 25-19.

Despite falling short, the Junior Medics contested fiercely, demonstrating their exceptional skills and dedication to overcome HSCI during their intense, incomparable match.

"In history sa Doctors', first time gid nakasulod ang IDC-BED, sa amo na pa lang, achievement na. Nakita man naton [dayon nga] bakod gid man ang Hua Siong [amo na] gin pursigi man namon nga makaya sang IDC Junior [Medics]," said Coach Joel Billones, Junior Medics' Coach.

Overall, IDC-BED earned silver, while Central Philippine University (CPU) claimed bronze in this year's ILOPRISAA Secondary Volleyball Boys.

Making history, Iloilo Doctors' College - Basic Education Department secured their tickets to the Boys and Girls Volleyball championships while the Basketball Boys advanced to the semifinals, December 10.

Despite battling two of the known toughest schools in terms of sports, the volleyball and basketball teams paved their way to victory together with the support of their fellow IDC-BED community.

"Fulfilling is the word to describe what I feel right now because I know it's not easy to go against well-systemed teams like CPU and San Agustin. All in all, I speak for the whole IDC community [when I] say that I'm proud for all the teams nga nagbaka-baka to claim the [wins] today," said Philip Louise Tolentino, IDC-BED principal.

IDC's volleyball teams tomorrow are set to face Hua Siong College of Iloilo for the finale.
