𝙂𝙧𝙚𝙚𝙣 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙨 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙍𝙚𝙙 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚, 𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙮𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙛𝙞𝙣𝙖𝙡𝙨

Powering the ball game, the Green Resilience finished off the Red Perseverance in a tight match, 2-1, in the Men's Volleyball Semi-finals of the 25th Foundation Day of Iloilo Doctors' College - Basic Education Department at the IDC-BED gymnasium, February 12.

With tight-knit banters from experienced IDC-BED players, the Green Resilience finished the last blow of the match, with consistent service aces and relentless spike attacks, ending the game at 20-16, 16-20, and 20-10 respectively.

Outside hitter Ivan Jamolague proved that chemistry is key, pouncing with different attacks, assisted by former 2024 Hinampang players from different teams.

"Nami gid sa pamatyag kay nag-updanay naman kami kag may iban nga nagkontrahanay man sa amon sa sulod sang court," said Jamolague.

The Green Resilience will fight out the championship against the Orange Exuberance on further announcements.

Sweeping a two-set victory, the Orange Exuberance spiked out the Yellow Diligence in the Men's Volleyball Semi-finals for the Iloilo Doctors' College - Basic Education Department's 25th Foundation Day at IDC-BED's gymnasium, February 12.

Khrys Jino-o of the orange roster believed in teamwork and perseverance, marking 20-13, 20-12 and securing their tickets to the finals.

"I believe ang technique gid namon, is ang teamwork and ang ga-interact kami together [on the court] bisan indi kami muna gid ka close," said Jino-o.

Jino-o further emphasized their team's positivity on court, and maintained camaraderie, thus prevailing as victors.

The Orange Exuberance will battle out the Green Resilience for the championship on further announcements.

Displaying poise under pressure, Green resilience powered through a decisive win as they make their way to championship stage after outlasting Red Perseverance with a 81-79 score during the Men's Basketball semi-final match at Iloilo Doctors' College Gymnasium, February 12.

Green team kicked off their comeback in the fourth quarter, 76-74, as Lance Andrei Gumban and Mark Johnwin Magallanes throwed a barrage of points to sealed the game against Red team with a 81-79 victory, after losing the second and third quarter.

"Sadya gid kay nakasulod kami finals biskan gamay lang kami nagbato kami sa [mga] dagko kag nag adjust kami sa depensa namon," said by Lance Andrei Gumban.

Yellow Diligence and Orange Exuberance are scheduled to match in the Game 2 of Men's Basketball semis at the same venue.

After four hard-fought quarters, Yellow Diligence wrapped the match to a nerve-wracking 55-47 victory against Orange Exuberance during the Game 2 of Men's Basketball semifinals playoffs at Iloilo Doctors' College Gymnasium, February 12.

Yellow team's take early 18-16 lead was challenged by the Orange team's mid-game surge, but Diligence ultimately prevailed, securing a 55-47 victory in the final stage.

"Happy gid kami nga nakalab ot kami championship kay ginhimo gid namon tanan para maging proud ang yellow team kag teachers [namon]," said by Jornden Servano.

Yellow Diligence are now set to battle Green Resilience for the Championship Game of Men's Basketball at the same venue.

Kicking off their 25 years, the Iloilo Doctors' College-Basic Education Department (IDC-BED) launched its 25th Foundation and Valentine's Day Celebration, February 12.

"For 25 years, IDC has served the Ilonggos with the best and worthy activities, both inside and outside the classroom. Nag-lawig kita because we are always driven and inspired sa mga kabataan, so we will never stop giving you wonderful activities to enjoy," expressed Teacher Merrily Pedroso in her opening remarks.

The inauguration was then followed by the performance of Theater Club and Music Club: Teatro Sinag and Young Musicians' Club, Roll Call of Houses, Opening of Club Booths and Semi-finals of different competing team colors.

Making new history, the Iloilo Doctors' College - Basic Education Department triumphed over Leon National High School, 3-2, in the Iloilo Schools Sports Council (ISSC) Meet's Secondary Volleyball Girls championship at the John B. Lacson - Foundation Maritime University's gymnasium, February 11.

Saving eight grueling match points, Marinel Beramo of IDC-BED finished the five-set match, 25-22, 12-25, 25-23, 22-25, 22-20, with a targeted spike attack to LNHS, securing their ticket to the regionals.

"Happy-happy gid kay ang akon nga dream nga mapa-WVRAA natuman gid, kag gusto ko man maglawig ang updanay namon as a team," said Beramo.

Beramo was powered through by the IDC-BED team, with captain Angel Torrento scoring unpredictable cross court shots, and Jailyn Labuyo executing exceptional sets, earning them momentum gain for the remainder of the games.

The IDC-BED Volleyball Girls will proceed to the regional level of the competition which will be announced in further updates.

𝙄𝘿𝘾-𝘽𝙀𝘿 𝙘𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙝𝙚𝙨 𝙥𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖-𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙢𝙥, 𝙨𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙨 𝙨𝙥𝙤𝙩𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙍𝙎𝙋𝘾

Earning five individual championship titles, Iloilo Doctors' College - Basic Education Department brought home glory from the Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) at the Diamond Jubilee Hall, February 5.

Anchored to the theme "Campus Journalism: Challenged by the Learners' Performance Issues", the Rookies emerged with 12 awards against 59 participating schools, both public and private, within Iloilo City.

With these results, several IDC-BED students will represent the Division of Iloilo City in the upcoming 2025 Regional Schools Press Conference.

The group contestants will compete at the same venue on February 15.

Setting the court ablaze, Iloilo Private Schools Athletic Association’s Jailyn Labuyo and Marinel Faith Beramo secured the team’s first full-sweep victory (25-16, 25-8) over the Municipality of Ajuy of the 5th Congressional District during the Iloilo Schools Sports Council (ISSC) Meet at Quintin Salas Gymnasium, February 7.

Iloilo Doctors’ College Volleybelles started with an early advantage, executing strategic plays, which earned them a 25-16 score in the first set. With Beramo's balance in relentless spikes and calculated serves and Labuyo's offensive play, the team was able to seal the deal with a 25-8 victory.

"Ga-expect man ko [sa next games] nga ma-adjust pa kami especially sa service since makitid ang court, pero kayanon [kag] ngitaan ways para ma lessen ang errors," said Beramo, team captain of the IDC women's volleyball team (IDC-WMVT).

Iloilo Doctors’ College - Basic Education Department (IDC-BED)’s representative, Victor Emmanuel Solinap, advanced to the top 5 and inspired the crowd with his strong response during the Final Q&A portion of Mr. IDC 2025.

With the question, “Senate Bill 1979 or the Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Bill has, as one of its provisions, mandates CSE or the comprehensive sexuality education to adolescents aged 10 years above in all public and private schools in the country. Do you agree with such provisions, why or why not?”

Solinap’s response was: “As a 16 year-old and a senior high school learner, I may not possess the depth of expertise on assessing these assets on complex issues, however, I recognize [that] I'm responsible to address one of the pressing issues in our country. I believe us Filipinos should be sharply awake and responsible [be disturbed] by the happenings now in our country; the challenges we face whether governance, economy, or social issues demand our awareness and action.”

Solinap emphasized coordination in fostering change and in highlighting Filipino responsibilities and obligations, which requires attention and a collective effort.

“As a responsible citizen, it’s not enough to observe, we must engage, speak up and contribute to a beautiful change, as Filipinos it is our civic obligation and responsibility to take part in shaping a better future. Change starts with awareness but it thrives through action and now as your Mr. IDC, I strive with my fellow Filipinos tonight striving for progress, unity, and a nation we can all be proud of. Mahal ko ang Pilipinas,” Solinap wrapped up.

With esteemed honor and pride, the Iloilo Doctors' College - Basic Education Department representative, Victor Emmanuel Solinap, concluded his journey as 4th Runner-up during Iloilo Doctors’ College Mister IDC 2025 pageant held at the IDC Gymnasium, February 7.

Solinap, having felt the love and support of his fellow Rookies, garnered minor awards alongside his title namely, Mr. GOT Game, Mr. Danara, Mr. BrainHub, Mr. Gallinero Dental Clinic Ambassador, Mr. Gold’s Gym, Mr. Photogenic, Best in Departmental Video, Best in Formal Wear, and Best in Production Number.

“I feel so motivated nga gin-take ko gid ang opportunity nga ‘ni to represent BED, kay ang plan ko is to take this opportunity for my exposure and growth, pero speechless gid ko sa support sa IDC-BED," shared Solinap, a grade 11 student.

The Basic Education Department finished off the top five list with candidates from the College of Physical Therapy, College of Medicine, College of Radiologic Technology, and College of Medical Laboratory Science.

Celebrating its annual launch, the Iloilo Private Schools Athletic Association (ILOPRISAA), hosted by Iloilo Doctors' College, commenced the Sports Forum and Solidarity Meeting for the 2025 Iloilo Schools Sports Council Meet at the Iloilo Sports Complex last February 7.

ILOPRISAA's Tertiary Level Sports Manager and keynote speaker Mr. John Trompeta started off the prestigious event with a hooking message to a value that should be embedded in every student-athlete in Iloilo City.

"As athletes, they should always maintain respect. Respect is one of the most important things that an athlete should give and receive," said Trompeta who is from Ateneo de Iloilo - Santa Maria Catholic School.

Trompeta added that he expects the athletes to maintain respect to their co-athletes, teachers, and most especially to the head delegates of each sport in order to maintain peace and unity for all.

The event was followed by the opening parade of seven other delegations namely the Iloilo City Schools Sports Council (ICSSC), Iloilo National High School (INHS) and the 1st to 5th Congressional District Sports Association (CDSA).

Unleashing precise yet devastating serves, the combined efforts of John Miguel Bañas and Angel Grace Genzola in the secondary individual matches for both boys' and girls' categories propelled the Central Philippine University (CPU) Golden Lions to sn**ch the top spot during the secondary table tennis championship held at Marymart Mall, January 22.

Bañas and Genzola dominated their respective divisions, clinching every set and elimination round, while Arfel King Perez, the Iloilo Doctors' College - Basic Education Department's (IDC-BED) Junior Medics' final shot at a semifinal berth gave a valiant effort, but was overpowered by CPU, 3-0, in the quarterfinals.

"Damo pa [need i-improve] kay beginner pa lang ko. So ang mga errors gid ya dapat kay-uhon," stated Arfel King Perez, 15, IDC-BED's representating player during the battle for fourth place.

CPU snagged both 1st and 2nd place in the secondary boys and girls, followed by Sun Yat Sen (SYS) and Hua Siong College of Iloilo (HSCI) who tied 3rd place in secondary boys, while SJCS and the University of San Agustin (USA) landed 3rd place in secondary girls.

Finishing off their chess journey, Iloilo Doctors' College - Basic Education Department (IDC-BED) secondary girls Shanedehl Emperado and Sweet EM Sumagaysay earned their silver medal in 2025 ILOPRISAA Chess Finals, January 22.

Showing consistent dominance, Emperado managed to safeguard her winning streak, 5-0, against her other opponents but was outmaneuvered by Kimberly Colaste of Central Philippine University (CPU) in the 6th round gaining 5 wins and 1 losses; however, Emperado came back stronger with the 7th round achieving a 6-1 win.

"I felt happy and proud sa self ko kay nalab-ot ko ang second place and I know I did my best para malab-ot ang silver medal. Nagapasalamat gid ko sa tanan nga support nga gin hatag sang IDC especially sa coach namon nga si Cher Devine and sa chess team kay tungod sa ila support nila nalab-ot ko ni," said Emperado, a grade 12-STEM student.

Regaining her loss against Andrea Balbontin of Central Philippine University (CPU) on the 6th round, Sumagaysay returned with stronger determination as she won the last round against Johanna Marmolejo of Colegio De las Hijas De Jesus (CHJ), guarding her spot for second place in Board 2, accumulating a 4-2 score.

"Actually very unexpected man kay first ko ni nga PRISAA tournament nga naintrahan, and wala ko gin expect nga maka second place ako. Thinking nga daw ma-brush over lang gid ni siya pero proud ko sa sarili ko and ang IDC nga chess team," expressed Sumagaysay.

Together with the three silver medals by Emperado, Sumagaysay, and Tenefrancia, James Patrick Cancer received the bronze medal in Board 3 Secondary Boys making the IDC-BED chess team garner a total of 4 medals.
