Official Statement on the Facebook Post shared by the Philippine Ulama Congress Organization Inc.
First of all, we would like to offer our heartfelt thanks to all our valued customers who continue to show their loyalty, love, and support for Dear Manok. ❤️
It has come to our attention that a Facebook post shared by the Philippine Ulama Congress Organization Inc. has been circulating online with unverified and misleading claims regarding the food handling process of our humble restaurant. We would like to set the record straight and state that Dear Manok only sources its chickens from trusted external suppliers who have an official halal certification. Please be informed that these suppliers supply for other local restaurants in the area as well. Attached to this statement in the comments section below is a copy of the halal certification of one of our suppliers.
Upon investigation, the guard on duty last September 4, 2024 brought non-Dear Manok raw materials for his own personal consumption inside the restaurant premises, which is a clear violation of Dear Manok’s company policy. Due to this deviation, the guard on duty will be facing immediate disciplinary action. Nevertheless, Dear Manok strongly maintains that all items being served to our customers are from credible suppliers only. We are currently taking steps to resolve this issue and strengthen our security, starting by addressing any misunderstandings and sharing our side of the story.
Dear Manok has a deep respect for the Muslim Community and would like to assure all our beloved patrons that although the restaurant itself is not halal-certified, we constantly do our best to uphold the highest standards of food safety, taste, and ethical food handling practices that align with halal principles. For over 27 years, Dear Manok has never served nor offered any pork products on our menu, which is why loyal customers have come to know us as “halal-friendly.” We look forward to serving all chicken-lovers regardless of race, religion, and background for many more years to come.
