In ages Past, Our Forefathers, in all ways religious and meticulous always endeavor to supervene the traditional rice farming cycle. Seeking the gods interference all purposed for a plenty and bountiful harvest.
The priest of old, on seeing the stalks of the rice plants grown and perhaps pregnant, that anyday, it will burst forth flower and fruits, so the "Hagophop" rites be done. The rice wines are poured forth and drunk; the baltung is chanted and most importantly , solemnest prayers are whispered to the gods that the rats,rodents,locust and all kinds of destructive pests stay away from the rice paddies and leave the rice plants alone.
The gods of the sky world and the underworld cause the rain to pour to nurture the plants for the best of grain fruits.
And as they await the fruiting and harvesting of the palay, villager of all ages, men , women & children ,attire in the most traditional of Ifugao costumes, congregate and party: drink rice wine ,chant the epic Hudhud, Dance with the beat of gongs, display their prowess in ethnic sports and games, and partake in feast of native pigs and carabao meat.
