The provinces of Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor will now be under one administrative region after President Marcos signed Republic Act (RA) No. 12000 or the Negros Island Region (NIR) Act on Thursday, June 13.

Pagahiwaton ang Ceremonial Signing sa Malacañang Palace kun sa diin imbitado si Governor Eugenio ‘Bong’ Lacson agud saksihan ang pagpirma sa hagna nga magatukod sang Region XVIII.

Ginapaabot nga mga benepisyo sang NIR, lakip na ang pagdamo sang mga proyekto sa infrastruktura kag pag-uswag, mga bag-o nga posisyon sa gobyerno nga magahatag oportunidad sa mga trabahador sa lokal nga gobyerno, kag pagnubo sang bureaucratic process tungod sa pagtukod sang mga regional offices sa Negros.

Kalakip sa NIR Bill ang mga probinsya sang Negros Occidental, Negros Oriental, kag isla sang Siquijor.*
