A Night of Grace and Royalty: Little Miss Jimalalud 2026 Crowns New Queen

The local gymnasium was transformed into a beacon of glitz and glamour last night, January 9, as the town celebrated the much-anticipated Little Miss Jimalalud 2026. The event, which kicked off at 8:00 PM, drew a massive crowd, filling the air with an electric hype that sustained until the final crowning moment.

Adding a touch of prestigious "Hara" (Queen) energy to the evening was an esteemed panel of judges. The audience erupted in cheers as the reigning Miss Guihulngan 2025 and Hara sa Negros Oriental 2025 were introduced. Her presence not only elevated the prestige of the pageant but served as an inspiration to the young candidates aspiring to follow in their footsteps of grace, intelligence, and community service.

The competition was fierce yet heartwarming, featuring the town's most talented and charming young ladies. From the colorful production numbers to the poise displayed in their tiny gowns, the candidates proved that Jimalalud is a breeding ground for future beauty queens. The "hype" of the event reached its peak during the final interview portion, where the children's wit and innocence captured the hearts of the judges and the spectators alike.

As the night drew to a close, a new little queen was crowned, beginning her reign with the support of her community and the blessing of the province's top titleholders.

Congratulations to the newly crowned Little Miss Jimalalud 2026! May your reign be filled with joy and may you continue to shine as a symbol of hope and beauty for your generation.

Did you know that Dumaguete City is the capital of Negros Oriental, located along the southeastern coast of Negros Island facing the Bohol Sea, and is widely known as the “City of Gentle People” because of the warm and welcoming nature of its residents.

Despite being one of the smallest cities in the province by land area, Dumaguete plays a major role in education, culture, and commerce, earning its reputation as a University City with institutions such as Silliman University, the first American university in Asia founded in 1901. The city has a vibrant blend of history and modern living, highlighted by landmarks like the historic bell tower, Rizal Boulevard, and the old Presidencia building now managed by the National Museum.

Dumaguete is also recognized for its active literary and artistic scene and was named the Philippines’ first UNESCO Creative City of Literature, reflecting its strong cultural identity. With a growing economy driven by education, tourism, and services, along with its relaxed coastal lifestyle and accessibility to nearby destinations like Siquijor and Apo Island, Dumaguete City continues to attract students, tourists, retirees, and investors alike.

Did you know that The history of Bacong is inseparable from the legend of its most famous son, Pantaleon Villegas, better known as Leon Kilat.

Born on July 27, 1873, in this coastal town, Villegas grew up to become a daring revolutionary leader who spearheaded the "Tres de Abril" uprising in Cebu against Spanish colonial rule in 1898. He earned the moniker "Kilat" (Lightning) due to his reputation for incredible speed and the widespread belief among his followers that he possessed supernatural powers, or anting-anting. These charms—which allegedly included a magical handkerchief and a mystical black cat—were said to make him invisible to enemies and impervious to bullets, cementing his status as a folk hero.

Beyond being the birthplace of a hero, Bacong itself holds a unique place in Philippine heritage as the home of the San Agustin Church, built in 1865. This church is famous for housing one of the oldest and few remaining pipe organs in the country, brought all the way from Spain during the colonial era. The town is also geographically significant for being the smallest municipality in Negros Oriental in terms of land area, yet it remains one of the most culturally rich.

Today, a grand statue of Leon Kilat mounted on a horse stands proudly in the town plaza, serving as a permanent sentinel that connects the town's peaceful present to its revolutionary past.

Did you know that the town just south of Guihulngan, La Libertad, was once a part of Guihulngan? It was called "Li-ong" before it became an independent municipality in 1919.

Before it became the independent municipality we know today, La Libertad was originally a barrio of Guihulngan known as Li-ong, a name derived from a local creek and the Cebuano term for the winding or "curved" nature of its terrain. The push for autonomy began in the early 20th century as the local population grew and residents felt the need for a more accessible local government.

Led by influential figures such as Isaac Robante, the community campaigned for separation to better manage their own resources and services. Their efforts were successful on January 1, 1919, when the town was officially established through an executive order. The name "La Libertad" (Spanish for "The Liberty") was chosen specifically to celebrate their hard-won freedom and independence from their mother town, Guihulngan.

Today, this historical journey is commemorated through the Libertad Festival, which stands as a proud reminder of the town’s identity and its geographical significance as a vital gateway in northern Negros Oriental.
