JUST IN (UPDATED): Four people, including a family of three, were confirmed dead after a tanker truck crashed into multiple vehicles and a house along the national highway in North Poblacion, Bacong town Saturday morning, Aug. 19, 2023.

Police identified the fatalities as Ruel Pascual, his wife Analie, and their 15-year-old daughter Shelly. Another man, identified as Meliton Blanco, was also killed, police said.

Authorities also identified one injured victim as Wilson Kial, 43.

IN PHOTOS|| In a significant demonstration of military success against communist terrorist groups, Brigadier General Michael Santos, Commander of the 603rd Persuader Brigade, recently presented a collection of confiscated and captured fi****ms, supplies, war materials, and subversive documents to Major General Alex S. Rillera, the esteemed Commander of the 6th Infantry (Kampilan) Division and Joint Task Force Central. The exhibition took place during Major General Rillera's visit to the Persuader Troopers' headquarters in Brgy Milbuk, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat underscoring the importance of their joint efforts in maintaining peace and security in the region.

The showcased items were acquired by the military following a recent encounter in Barangay Batang Bagras, Palimbang, Sultan Kudarat on June 26, 2023. The successful operations resulted in the confiscation of a significant cache of weaponry and materials belonging to the communist terrorist group. The recovered items, not only represent a tangible blow to the insurgency, but also provided valuable intelligence for ongoing counterinsurgency efforts.

During his visit, Major General Rillera commended the bravery and dedication of the Persuader Troopers in combating insurgency and safeguarding the community. Major General Rillera expressed his gratitude to Brigadier General Santos and the entire 603rd Persuader Brigade for their unwavering service and dedication to duty.

𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐍𝐏𝐀 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐝, 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐬 𝐬𝐞𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐨𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚

Isabela, Negros Occidental – In less than a month from the last series of encounter in Brgy Quintin Remo, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental and Brgy Trinidad, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental that resulted to nine (9) NPA killed and captured of several fi****ms, a concerned civilian gave information to the troops of 62nd Infantry "Unifier" Battalion and immediately launched combat operations and encountered the remnants of Communist NPA Terrorists (C**s) at Brgy Macagahay, Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental today, June 13, 2023.

The first firefight lasted for 20 minutes between the troops of 62IB and six (6) members of C**s, another 15 minutes firefight transpired after the CNT withdrew towards the blocking troops of 62IB at Sitio Cupad, Brgy Macagahay and fled towards northern direction wherein another platoon of 62IB encountered the fleeing C**s at Sitio Mantauyan, Brgy Macagahay Moises Padilla. No casualty on the government side, while, two (2) fatalities (body counts) were discovered who were left behind by their comrades. Also captured in the encounter sites are one (1) M16 Rifle bearing SN RP082622, one (1) 12-Gauge shotgun, one (1) .38 Revolver, four (4) short magazine assembly for M16, two (2) rounds of serviceable ammo for Shotgun, six (6) rounds of serviceable ammo for .38 Revolver, 79 rounds of 5.56mm ball for M16, one (1) Rifle Gr***de, two (2) bandoliers, one (1) binoculars, two (2) backpacks, two (2) sling bag and one (1) power bank.

A total of 32 families who are Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the encounter were secured at Sitio Mantauyan, Brgy Macagahay Evacuation Center. These evacuees were given foodpacks by the Moises Padilla Task Force-ELCAC through MSWDO.

Meanwhile, 62IB is appealing again to the populace and calling those wounded and fleeing rebels to voluntarily surrender. The government forces are giving them chance to return to the fold of the law because the troops of 62IB and PNP will never stop hunting them to ensure and sustain the peace and development in Central Negros.

News Update:

Vice Gov. Chaco Sagarbarria sworn in as the new Governor of the Province of Negros Oriental ensuing the death of Gov. Guido Reyes on or 12 noon today May 31, 2023 at St. Lukes Medical Center in Manila.

It was Executive Judge Gerardo Paguio Jr. who administer the oath of office to Vice Gov. Chaco Sagarbarria with her mother VM Maisa Sagarbarria, Sister, his two siblings, relatives, and majority of provincial board.

The said event was witnessed by Provincial Officer of DILG Farah Gentuya.
