Our Story

Brigada Mass Media Corporation Brigada Mass Media Corporation is a corporation duly organized and existing under the pertinent laws, rules and regulations of the Republic of the Philippines. Brigada News Philippines: humble beginnings It all started with the publication of Brigada News Philippines a daily newspaper/ tabloid on October 18, 2005 with a circulation in Gen. Santos City. It was founded by then publisher; and now President and Chief-Executive Officer Elmer Catulpos. Brigada News Philippines quickly grew and a little more than a couple of years later it would spawn additional circulations in Davao city and Cagayan de Oro city. Brigada News GenSan enjoys a circulation of more than 7,000 copies a day while Davao and Cagayan de Oro have a combined circulation of more than 14,000 a day, making Brigada News Philippines as one of the most successful local newspaper in the country. 89.5 Brigada News FM: The music and news authority The fourth year anniversary of Brigada News Philippines – October 18, 2009 also marked the birth of 89.5 Brigada News FM, the first ever radio station to combine the fearless fervor for news and public service of an AM station; and the entertaining and relaxing vibe of a music dominated FM station. Helmed and manned by some of the most brilliant and top-caliber commentators, newscasters, news writers, reporters and disc jockeys 89.5 Brigada News FM with its 10,000 watts capacity quickly shot up the local FM rankings to capture the number two spot for both AM and FM stations in an AC Nielsen Survey. After one year of operation, the 89.5 Brigada News FM together with its sister company Brigada News Philippines transferred to its newly acquired corporate building and all the equipment were changed to state-of-the-art latest broadcast apparatus taking Brigada’s broadcasting power to 12,000 watts. After establishing a solid showing in the yearly AC Nielsen Survey, 89.5 Brigada News FM also consistently held the over-all number three spot in the KBP-RRC Survey. It also holds the number one spot in news and public affairs from 4 :00 am to 9:00 am with a total of 28% over-all listenership cementing its status as the “music and news authority” in the SoCSarGen area. A year later, 95.7 Brigada News FM Koronadal City would go on air in South Cotabato with 10,000 watts of broadcasting capacity followed closely by 30,000 watts 93.1 Brigada News FM Cebu City and 93.1 Brigada News FM Zamboanga. With that came the acquisition and 100% take-over of Baycomms Broadcasting Corporation by Brigada News bringing with it another seven radio stations under Brigada’s helm. With the procurement of additional broadcasting gear from US and Italy, Brigada News was able to bring on air newly added stations in Batangas City, Lucena City, Daet-Camarines Norte, Tacloban City, Toledo City-Cebu, Kalibo- Aklan and San Carlos City-Negros Occidental with another 10 radio stations with approved frequencies from the National Transmission Commission set to hit the airwaves in 2014. Brigada News TV: onwards to the future Then came, Brigada News TV, the first-ever local television station in Gen. Santos City. It can be seen over Channel 21, Marbel Cable and Sky Cable Gensan; Channel 15 in Sky Cable Polomolok, and local/free TV –Channel 46. As young as the station is, it has already earned a loyal number of following especially its news and public affairs programs in the prime time slots during the morning and afternoon. It is operated and maintained by highly capable technical persons, who are into continuous research and development efforts to bring the best quality programming that our viewers deserve.
