Potentiometer - calculating internal resistance of a cell | Electricity

To calculate internal resistance, we use a potentiometer to first calculate the voltage across the battery, with no current through it. Then we attach a resistor in parallel to the battery and recalculate the voltage across it. Since the current flows, this time the balancing length is smaller. Using the battery equation, we calculate the internal resistance.

Energy stored in capacitor derivation | Electrostatic potential

To calculate the energy stored in a capacitor, we calculate the work done in separating the charges. As we separate more charges, it takes more work to separate even more, due to increased repulsion. Hence, to find the total work done, one needs to integrate. Let's see how we can set up this integral and find the total work done.

"Wheatstone bridge & its logic" -Electric current | Physics

-Wheatstone bridge is a special circuit consisting of 5 resistors. When the resistances in the adjacent arms have the same ratio, no current flows through the middle resistor! This is called a balanced Wheatstone bridge.
It's used in calculating unknown resistances using a meter-bridge set up.

"Magnetic effects of current"
-When an electric current passes through a wire, it behaves like a magnet. This is the magnetic effect of the electric current. If the electric current does not passes through, it loses its magnetic effect. These coils of wire are called electromagnets.

"Installing a Flood light"

-A floodlight is a broad-beamed, high-intensity artificial light. They are often used to illuminate outdoor playing fields while an outdoor sports event is being held during low-light conditions. More focused kinds are often used as a stage lighting instrument in live performances such as concerts and plays.

Calculating Wire Ampacity.
This video digs into how we calculate the ampacity of wire using the 2018 CEC. While this is the Canadian code, the principles are the same. If you use the NEC make sure you comment below and let's compare the codes.

"Methods of Producing Electricity"

-Most electricity is generated with steam turbines using fossil fuels, nuclear, biomass, geothermal, and solar thermal energy. Other major electricity generation technologies include gas turbines, hydro turbines, wind turbines, and solar photovoltaics.

What are the six basic methods for producing electricity?

-Image result for methods of producing electricity and its sources
In this learning activity you'll review the six different ways in which electricity is produced: chemical, friction, heat, light, magnetism, and pressure.

"Find where a third charge would be in equilibrium | Electric charges & fields."

-Let's solve a numerical and see how to figure out where the null point is. Null point is where the net electric fields due to all charges add up to be zero.

"Charge density & continuous charge distribution".
-A charge distribution is ultimately composed of individual charged particles separated by regions containing no charge. For example, the charge in an electrically charged metal object is made up of conduction electrons moving randomly in the metal's crystal lattice.
-There are three types of charge distribution that are (linear charge), (surface charge), and (volume charge). Linear charge density: Linear charge density is defined as electric charge per unit length and is denoted by lambda

"Electric Charge"
-Electric Charge is the property of subatomic particles that causes it to experience a force when placed in an electric and magnetic field.
-Electric charges are of two types: Positive and Negative, commonly carried by charge carriers protons and electrons.

"Electrical Socket Damage" -Your power socket requires immediate attention if you hear buzzing, popping or cracking sounds. Such a condition might require professional help, and so it is always advisable to take the help of an electrician to get your power socket replaced. Burning smells are observed if the power sockets are corroded.

What are inductors? (self-inductance) | Electromagnetic induction.

- Electromagnetic Induction is a current produced because of voltage production (electromotive force) due to a changing magnetic field.
- Is the creation of an electro-motive force (EMF) by way of a moving magnetic field around an electric conductor and, conversely, the creation of current by moving an electric conductor through a static magnetic field.
- Two important devices depend on electromagnetic induction: electric generators and electric transformers. Both devices play critical roles in producing and regulating the electric current we depend on in our daily lives. Electric generators use electromagnetic induction to change kinetic energy to electrical energy.

"Overload & short circuit" - Domestic circuits

Short-circuit develops when live wire comes into contact with neutral wire.
1. Overloading occurs when the amount of current drawn by the source exceeds the amount of current the source can supply.
2. The current flow is high at the time of short-circuit.

"Alternating Current" and "Direct Current", What is the difference?

In direct current, the voltage is always constant, and the electricity flows in a certain direction. In contrast, in alternating current, the voltage periodically changes from positive to negative and from negative to positive, and the direction of the current also periodically changes accordingly.

"LIVE WIRE" -A live wire is a wire carrying an electric current.
If something goes wrong inside and the live wire gets accidentally connected to some metal part, the circuit breaker will blow, protecting the user from an unpleasant sensation or even electrocution.

"NEUTRAL WIRE" -Carries the circuit back to the original power source. More specifically, neutral wire brings the circuit to a ground or busbar usually connected at the electrical panel. This gives currents circulation through your electrical system, which allows electricity to be fully utilized.

"GROUND WIRE" -Offers an additional path for the electrical circuit to flow into the earth so as to not endanger anyone working with the electricity nearby in the event of a short circuit. Without ground wire, your body could instead complete the ground path and may cause shock or electrocution.
