"Ang Ebanghelyo karon gitawag usab nga “Ang Wali ni Hesus sa Bukid”. Sa bersiyon ni San Lucas, si Hesus kusganong nagsugod sa mga Kabulahanan. Kini gilangkoban sa pipila ka mga panalangin ug mga tunglo. Kini nga mga pagtulon-an nagpakita kang Hesus ingon nga Ginoo sa mga pagbag-o. Apan, dili ta anagay masayop sa pagsabot niini..."

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
Feb. 15, Saturday

Mk. 8:8: The people in the crowd ate until they had their fill; then they gathered up seven wicker baskets of leftovers.

Reflection: Echoing the age-old message of the prophets, the Jubilee reminds us that the goods of the earth are not destined for a privileged few, but for everyone. The rich must be generous and not avert their eyes from the faces of their brothers and sisters in need. …hunger is a scandal, an open wound on the body of our humanity, and it summons all of us to a serious examination of conscience.

Pray: Lord Jesus, true bread come down from heaven, grant that I may turn away from the leaven of sin and worldly allurements that bring corruption and death. Amen.

Act: Share your blessings.

THAT's what the crowd said after they witnessed a miraculous healing of a dumb man by Christ. (cfr. Mk 7,31-37) On Valentine’s Day which is popularly known as a day of celebrating love, we should strengthen our conviction that the real standard of love is when, like Christ, we do everything well and win the same praise from others. Love is not just sweet words, good intentions and nice feelings....

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
Feb. 14, Friday

Mk. 7:32-33: Some people brought him a deaf man who had a speech impediment and begged him to lay his hands on him. Jesus took him off by himself away from the crowd. He put his fingers into the man’s ears and, spitting, touched his toungue.

Reflection: Works of mercy are also works of hope that give rise to immense gratitude. Gratitude should likewise be shown to all those healthcare workers who, often in precarious conditions, carry out their mission with constant care and concern for the sick and for those who are most vulnerable.

Pray: Merciful and Loving Lord, give me the love that is pure and ready to give up one’s life for the weak. Amen.

Act: Be a sign of hope to the voiceless.

THAT’S from Psalm 128,1. The verse is often used as a responsorial psalm in many of the Masses during the year. And it definitely talks about a healthy kind of fear that is nothing other than a gift of the Holy Spirit. It’s a fear that protects and prevents us from offending God through sin, through disobedience to his loving and saving will for us....

GOSPEL OF THE DAY
Feb. 13, Thursday

Mk. 7:28-29: “Please, Lord,” she replied, “even the dogs under the table eat the family’s leavings.” Then he said to her, “For such a reply, be off now! The demon has already left your daughter.”

Reflection: Inclusive attention should also be given to all those in particularly difficult situations, who experience their own weaknesses and limitations, especially those affected by illnesses or disabilities that severely restrict their personal independence and freedom. Care given to them is a hymn to human dignity, a song of hope that calls for the choral participation of society as a whole.

Pray: All-powerful God and Father, help me welcoming and caring for the lost and the rejected just as you do. Amen.

Act: Heal by being welcoming.
