The Mother's Heart
Once upon a time in a peaceful village, there lived a young mother named Lina. She had two children, a curious boy named Arlo and a gentle girl named Ella. Lina worked tirelessly every day to provide for her children, despite the hardships she faced.
One particularly harsh winter, food became scarce, and the villagers struggled to survive. Lina had just enough food to last for a few days, but it wasn’t enough to keep her and her children full. Every day, she gave her children the biggest portions, telling them she wasn’t hungry, even though her stomach ached with hunger.
One evening, after tucking Arlo and Ella into bed, Lina sat by the fire, exhausted. Her neighbor, an older woman named Mara, noticed Lina's weariness and approached her.
"Lina, you cannot go on like this. You need strength to care for your children," Mara said kindly.
Lina smiled softly and replied, "As long as my children are safe and fed, that is all the strength I need."
Mara looked at her with admiration but also concern. She placed a hand on Lina’s shoulder and whispered, "A mother’s love is boundless, but remember, to care for them, you must care for yourself as well."
The next day, Lina found a surprise at her door—a basket filled with food from the villagers. Word had spread about Lina's sacrifices, and everyone came together to help. Moved by their kindness, Lina realized Mara's words held deep wisdom. She shared the food with her children and took care of herself as well, knowing that her strength was crucial for their well-being.
As the harsh winter passed, Lina learned an important lesson: while a mother’s love often means putting her children first, it is also vital to nurture herself, for in doing so, she could give her best to those she loved.
Moral: Motherhood is a journey of selflessness, but in giving all your love to others, don’t forget to care for yourself. Only by taking care of your own well-being can you fully support and nurture those who depend on you.
