‼️We're hiring an SMM who knows graphic design, video editing, copywriting, email campaign design, database management, email management, marketing planning, ads, manages a team of content creators, and knows web design—with 3-5 years of experience. Rate? $7.‼️
Is this a joke? All that for $7? And then you're going to tell us you'd rather hire an American VA? Your one meal at McDonald's is over $10, so why is $10 starting rate too much for you? That should be the bare minimum.
For reference, here are the actual rates professionals charge for this level of expertise:
Social Media Manager: $25–$50/hour
Web Designer: $30–$65/hour
Video Editor: $30–$75/hour
Copywriter: $25–$100/hour
Team Manager: $40–$80/hour
(Source: Upwork and Glassdoor average hourly rates for similar roles in the U.S.)
Now compare that to the $7 you're offering. It's not even close to fair.
Also, a quick shoutout (not the good kind) to VA agencies marketing Filipino VAs at insanely low rates. I’ve watched talks from one of the biggest VA agencies in the Philippines proudly saying, “You can hire Filipino VAs for $2 an hour, and they can run your whole business.”
Sure, Filipino VAs are incredibly skilled—but $2/hour? That’s inhumane. FYI, the Philippines might be a third-world country, but our cost of living is expensive. Many of the things we buy are priced similarly to what you pay in the U.S.
I get it—our economy isn’t your problem. But here’s the bottom line:
We’re highly skilled, experienced, and educated people who’ve spent time and money mastering these abilities. Even if we live in a third-world country, we work just as hard as you, and we deserve to be compensated fairly. To the VA agencies: also, stop setting unrealistic expectations.
Stop lowballing us. We’re human.
