What Is A Good Life?

Allāh says,

“Whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - We will surely cause him to live a good life..."

An-Nahl 16: 97.

Explanation:

- The correct view [regarding the meaning of the verse] is that it is the spiritual life of the heart and finding joy and delight in faith, knowing Allāh, loving Him, turning to Him and putting one’s trust in Him. No life is better than the life of the one who has attained this, and no delight is greater than the delights of such a life, except the delights of Paradise.

- What life could be better than the life of one who has all his worries and concerns reduced to a single worry and concern, which is to please Allāh.

Action Plan:

1 - Seek Islamic knowledge
2 - Perform all the obligatory acts and strive to do voluntary deeds.
3 - Focus on purifying the heart from all diseases.
4 - Find comfort in worshipping Allāh in private.

Explanation: Imām Ibn Rajab explains:

Some of the Salaf used to say: ‘The people who truly love for Allāh observe others with the light [guidance] of Allāh, they show compassion upon the one who engages in disobedient actions, they detest their actions while showing mercy to them such that they can exhort them; turning them away from their actions [of disobedience].

They are empathetic towards the believers, seeking that their bodies should never touch the Fire.’

Action Plan:

- Think well of your brothers and avoid negative thoughts.

- This love can only grow if we remove envy and hatred from our hearts.

- Apply this to every Muslim, not just those who practice Islām.

Mindset:

- Always wish guidance and good for the believers whether they are practising or not, regardless of their background; it is our faith which unites us.

- We want to free ourselves from selfishness and strive to have a loving and supportive heart for our brothers and sisters.

🎓Upon the authority of Ubaadah ibn Saamit who said:

“I heard the prophet – Sallallahu Alaihi wa sallam say:

“Whoever seeks forgiveness for the male and female believers, Allah writes for him a good deed per male and female believer!”

For this reason I say: We will never remove the Jews (from Palestine) by the call of Pan-Arabism,
ولهذا أقول: إننا لن نقضي على اليهود باسم العروبة أبداً؛

we will only remove them with the name of al-Islām.
لن نقضي عليهم إلا باسم الإسلام؛

Whoever wants let him recite the statement of the Exalted: {And indeed We have written in Psalms after, that My righteous slaves shall inherit the land. (21:105)}
ومن شاء فليقرأ قوله تعالى: {ولقد كتبنا في الزبور من بعد الذكر أن الأرض يرثها عبادي الصالحون} [الأنبياء: 105]:

Thus He made the inheritance for His righteous slaves.
فجعل الميراث لعباده الصالحين؛

And that which is connected to a description will occur when the description is present, and it will be negated when the description is negated.
وما عُلِّق بوصف فإنه يوجد بوجوده، وينتفي بانتفائه؛

If we are righteous slaves of Allah we will inherit it with complete ease,
فإذا كنا عبادَ الله الصالحين ورثناها بكل يسر وسهولة،

without any hardship, toil or difficulty and without long drawn out speeches which never end!
وبدون هذه المشقات، والمتاعب، والمصاعب، والكلامِ الطويل العريض الذي لا ينتهي أبداً!!

We will seize it with the help of Allah the Exalted with what Allah has decreed for us.
نستحلها بنصر الله عزّ وجلّ، وبكتابة الله لنا ذلك.

And how easy is this for Allah!
وما أيسره على الله!

We know that the Muslims did not rule Palestine during the illustrious era of al-Islām except due to their Islām.
ونحن نعلم أن المسلمين ما ملكوا فلسطين في عهد الإسلام الزاهر إلا بإسلامهم؛

And they did not conquer the capital cities of Persian, and the capital of Rome, and the capital of the Coptic except due to their Islām.
ولا استولوا على المدائن عاصمة الفرس، ولا على عاصمة الروم، ولا على عاصمة القبط إلا بالإسلام؛

Thus if only our youth were conscious and aware that absolute victory is not possible except with al-Islām al-ḥaqīqī (ie: real Islām);
ولذلك ليت شبابنا يعون وعياً صحيحاً بأنه لا يمكن الانتصار المطلق إلا بالإسلام الحقيقي.

not Islām which is identified by an ID card!
لا إسلام الهوية بالبطاقة الشخصية!

And perhaps some of you have heard the qiṣṣah (ie: story of) Saʿd b. Abī Waqqāṣ may Allah be pleased with him.
ولعل بعضنا سمع قصة سعد بن أبي وقاص رضي الله عنه

The Persians had destroyed the bridge over the Tigris River and sank the ships so the Muslims would not cross (the river) and reach them.
حينما كسرت الفُرس الجسور على نهر دجلة، وأغرقت السفن لئلا يعبر المسلمون إليهم؛

So Allah subjugated the river for them.
فسخَّر الله لهم البحر؛

Thus they started walking on top of the water with their horses, their men, and their camels.
فصاروا يمشون على ظهر الماء بخيلهم، ورجلهم، وإبلهم؛

They walked on top of the water just as they walked on top of the land.
يمشون على الماء كما يمشون على الأرض

The water did not cover the hooves of the camels.
لا يغطي الماء خفاف الإبل؛

When the horses became tired Allah facilitated a raised boulder so they could rest upon it.
وإذا تعب فرس أحدهم قيض الله له صخرة تربو حتى يستريح عليها؛

And this was from the signs of Allah no doubt.
وهذا من آيات الله. ولا شك؛

And Allah the Exalted has power over all things.
والله تعالى على كل شيء قدير؛

Thus the One who split the sea for Mūsá peace be upon him and his people such that it instantly became a dry path for them and they walked therein safely;
فالذي فلق البحر لموسى. عليه الصلاة والسلام. ولقومه، وصار يبساً في لحظة، ومشوا عليه آمنين؛

has the ability to do greater than that.
قادر على ما هو أعظم من ذلك…

If a day passes where in you don’t read the Quran, hold yourself accountable and question yourself “ Was what I was doing so important that I didn’t get even 10 minutes to read the Book of Allāh سُبْحَانَهُ وَتَعَالَى?” What is more important than the book of Allah?
