𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐘 | HOME

I read it somewhere. You can leave a broken home, but a broken home never leaves you. It sits there, stitched into the shadows, haunting the corners of your laughter, the pauses in your voice. You can move away, drift through new rooms and different walls, but somehow you carry it with you—quiet, sharp, buried in the things you never learned how to ask for.

It’s in the way you hold yourself at arm’s length, afraid of being too close, of taking up too much space. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐡 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬, wondering if gentleness is real, or just another mask waiting to slip. It’s the ghosts of slammed doors and silent dinners that fill the quiet between your words, the echoes of voices you can’t seem to shake, no matter how far you run.

𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐭, this pain that feels like a part of you, this whisper of unfinished love and unspoken things. Maybe you leave that house, but it builds itself inside you; room by room, filling every place you think you’ve emptied. You carry its walls in your chest, its cold floors in your footsteps, a shadow stretching out behind you.

𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞, 𝐲𝐞𝐬—𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲𝐬. It lingers in your pulse, in the way you search faces for approval, in the way you love others the way you never learned to love yourself.

𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐘 | Reborn of New Horizons

A new year comes, laid open like a crisp-edged page of possibilities. The world, on the hush of midnight's breath, has waited to quicken its pulse limit, a place where endings dissolve into the tenderness of beginnings. Each second weighs in with hope as the first light of dawn pressed against the darkened sky. In this quiet moment, we stand at the end of everything: where mistakes are forgotten, and dreams are born anew.

The calendar gives us neat rows of numbers, no map, no direction, just the wide-open expanse of time ahead. The past is a collection of lessons, a tapestry stitched with moments both bright and shadowed, but it is no longer the fabric we wear. We shed its weight, and in its place, a coat of potential is draped across our shoulders, stitched with courage, stitched with promise.

This is the moment to let go of old fears, to sweep away the dust of doubt. Every sunrise brings with it a gift—a second chance, a fresh start, the first drop of rain on parched earth. We write ourselves once more, word by word, each line an affirmation, each step a claim to what we will be.

The past may whisper its truths, but the future sings in a language of possibility. And so we listen. We listen to the new rhythm, the quiet pulse of the universe inviting us to dance, to create, to live boldly without apology. This is the season of becoming. And in this new year, we are reborn—unraveled, reassembled, and alive with the wonder of starting over.

𝐅𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐄 | New Year Truth Lingers: Heartbreak, like December, is Cold and Unyielding, but also Holds a New Beginnings and Endless Possibilities

“There is nothing under the tree. That I wished for. I want you to come back to me, and be like before. Have I lost you? Nothing will ever fill the hole.”
Ed Sheeran, Under the Tree

Grief, loss, pain. Many tears have been shed this year. Will I ever get through these? Will I overcome this pain inside my soul? People have been wondering how a year should be. What should I do to make the most out of it? To survive this year? Yet, how can I continue if I lost a big part of me?

They say, the Christmas and New Year celebration has been different because we are growing up. Little do people know that it is not the holidays that are changing and it is not because we are growing old—it is the situation. Situations and circumstances that we can not control in life. Have you ever wondered, what if you lost your mom? Your father? Or someone who is very close to your heart?

She was a star. She was everything. She’s the glue of the family. For her she is the source of warmth and a symbol of home, comfort, and belonging. How can the holidays be the same if she is not here anymore?

New Year's Eve! It means she’s going to cook a lot of delicious food! “Bawal ang manok, ha. Malas ‘yan.” Wait! She’s also gonna cook that yummy crispy pata! “But mama, there is no crispy pata this New Year's Eve.” The daughter said as her tears dropped into her grave.

For some people, welcoming the new year speaks to the bittersweetness of memory and the pain of a love that lingers in absence. December is often a season of warmth, of crackling fires and shared laughter. But for some, it’s a month that underscores the ache of absence. A new year symbolizes new beginnings, but also can be a closing chapter of a love that once burned brightly.

This year may end, starting a new one, and seasons may change, but the heart's yearning remains—a testament to the enduring power of love, even in its most painful form. The truth lingers: heartbreak, like December, is cold and unyielding, but it also holds a quiet beauty in its honesty.

This New Year’s celebration, take a moment to cherish the time with your loved ones, if you can. Life is unpredictable, and each gathering is a gift we cannot take for granted. Who knows what the next year may bring? Making memories now ensures you carry their warmth, no matter what the future holds.

Happy New Year, everyone! Congratulations to everyone for surviving 2024. As we step into a brand-new chapter, let’s embrace it with hearts full of love. May this year bring us closer to our dreams, strengthen our bonds, and fill our lives with joy and kindness. Here's to new beginnings and endless possibilities!

On this day, Dec 30, 2024, we remember and honor the life and lessons of Dr. Jose Rizal through this year’s theme, “Rizal sa Bagong Pilipinas: Buhay at Aral Aming Nilalandas.”

This theme reminds us of Rizal’s deep love for the Philippines and encourages us to embody his values in today’s world. As we follow his example, may we strive to become transformational leaders, driven by truth, compassion, and courage, to inspire change and build a better nation for generations to come.

𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐘 | Rizal's Revolution of Words

The streets hummed, not with the clang of steel, but with the hushed whispers of a revolution—a revolution of words, fueled by Dr. Jose Rizal and his enduring influence.

If the world was armed with swords and shields, Rizal armed his people with something far more potent, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo.

These weren't weapons, but seeds of defiance. Wherein each chapter is a cry; each character is a symbol of hope for the oppressed. Crisostomo Ibarra, Rizal's idealistic hero, became a beacon of hope. Simoun, the vengeful figure, serves as a warning of oppression's consequences.

No armed revolt here.

Just peaceful protests, a chorus demanding for change. It was a revolution of enlightenment, a silent dismantling of ignorance and oppression. Even the Katipunan, initially envisioned as an armed force, shifted its focus. Its secret meetings became discussions, debates—a quiet spreading of Rizal’s ideas.

The fight then changed; less about arms, more about awareness.

And so, the revolution succeeded, but the victory didn't roar, it sighed with relief. Oppression's chains weren't broken by force, but resolved slowly, patiently, by people armed with knowledge, inspired by a doctor, a writer, a revolutionary whose pen was his mightiest weapon. That bloodless revolution, a powerful demonstration of ideas and human spirit, stands as a monument to Rizal—proof that sometimes, the quietest revolution is the strongest.

𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐑𝐘 | The Magic We Outgrow

December 22, 2024
Dear Journal,

Christmas carols used to feel like magic. Well, at least in the eyes of the younger me. It feels like I'm trying to catch a falling star. I used to feel that pure joy just by singing and celebrating Christmas. Now it's like a distant memory, a faded photograph. Has Christmas changed, or am I the one trapped in an adult's body?

All I do now is watch the children while their faces lit with wonder, as they sing the Christmas carol. A wave of nostalgia washes over me. I vividly remember the excitement of counting down the days, the thrill of crafting a makeshift tanzan, and the joy of transforming a jar of stick-o into a drum. I recall the moments of caroling with friends, splitting coins fairly, and the anticipation of gifts. The world transformed into a twinkling wonderland, filled with the joyous laughter of reunited loved ones.

Yet, as I've grown older, a pang of nostalgia hits me. Where has that same spark gone? Why did Christmas become a plain and lifeless event? The magic, it seems, feels like it is reserved only for the young. The once vibrant Christmas, filled with twinkling lights and joyful carols, now feels bland and boring. The reality of adulthood, with its increased responsibilities and societal pressures, has replaced the magic of childhood. Not only my age has passed but also my excitement for Christmas. Can it be that the magic of Christmas fades with age?

Perhaps it's not the holiday itself that changes, but my perception of it. As I age, I may lose sight of the true meaning of Christmas. I recently realized that it's not just about gifts and decorations; it’s about love, kindness, and hope. Maybe by reviving the childlike spirits within me, I can rediscover the true meaning of Christmas. Deep in my heart, I'm still a kid, longing for the love, laughter, and magic of the season.

Let's all be reminded that Christmas has no age limit. We can all be little kids, admiring the magic of this season. By embracing the spirit of giving, kindness, and love for our families and friends, we can make every Christmas truly special.
