Cloth diapering has become much more convenient and easier to master in recent years. There’s no denying the waste reduction you can achieve by choosing cloth diapers over disposables.

There are a lot of things to consider when choosing cloth or disposable diapers, including cost, ease of use, environmental impact and more.

As with anything, there are pros and cons to every diapering option.

All babies are different, even when it comes to diapering. Some babies will wet every 30 minutes, and then there are the classic heavy wetters.

First of all, don’t panic. Cloth diapers are great for heavy wetters, but only if you’re strategic about what kind, and material of cloth diapers you’re using.

📌 Hint: It's all about absorbency: having enough and having the right kind.

🚼 The cloth diaper community has developed a language of it’s own full of strange names and tons of acronyms that you might hear or read while looking into cloth diapers.

So here's what all the shorthand means. 👇🫰

Building a cloth diaper stash is a necessity.

THINGS TO CONSIDER:
💧Baby's age and their needs
💧What cloth diaper styles work best for your child
💧How much you like doing laundry
💧What type of cloth diapers you use
💧How much is your budget

The first thing to note when deciding how many cloth diapers you need is
how old your child is. Not every child is the same, and every day won’t be the same either. Some days your baby will go through more cloth diapers than the average baby his age, and some days he’ll go through fewer. There isn’t really one right answer.

If you want to have enough on hand for two normal days plus any bathroom emergencies, we recommend washing your cloth diapers every 2-3 days.
But having a large stash of nappies means less time spent doing laundry,
so you can rotate the cloth diapers. The result is: they receive less wear and tear.
And if you plan on full-time cloth diapering, we recommend increasing to
10-12 nappies within your child’s first year of life.

However, there are situations where you may want more or less than this recommended stash size. It all depends on your family’s lifestyle.
No matter what your budget is, we recommend cloth diapering.
Because each day will save you money over disposables with each use.

Reusable Nappy Week is an international action packed week of awareness raising activities and advocacy for all things reusable nappies. It was originally called Real Nappy Week. Held annually in April of each year, it usually co-incides with Earth Day. Spreading the word about reusable nappies, giving reusable nappy advice, promoting the benefits and how to easily make the swap from single use nappies.

Reusable Nappy Week 2023 will be no different and will run from 24th-28th April 2023. It is now an international event and is supported by retailers & manufacturers. With everyone’s minds on the rising cost of living at the moment, Reusable Nappy Week could be the time to make that budget stretch further.

Who wants a baby product that your LO doesn't grow out of in a month?

🚼 One-size cloth diapers generally fit from about 12 lb. to around 35 lb. and adjust with a snap system to toggle the rise. These are designed to fit babies from ‘birth to potty training’ depending on the brand. If you are starting to cloth diaper with an older baby or if you are cloth diapering 2 children at the same time, one size diapers are the way to go for you.
