In celebration of the 75 years of central banking in the Philippines, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) issued a 750-Piso Silver non-circulation commemorative coin. The obverse side features the Intendencia, also known as the Aduana building, in Intramuros, Manila that served as the first headquarters of the Central Bank of the Philippines. The reverse side features markings of the year “1949,” 75th-anniversary logo in color, the inscription “CELEBRATING 75 YEARS OF CENTRAL BANKING IN THE PHILIPPINES,” BSP Seal, and the year “2024.”

The silver commemorative coin will be available for sale starting Monday, 2 September 2024 at 1 p.m.

ON THIS DAY JULY 12, 2016 THE PHILIPPINES WIN ARBITRATION CASE AGAINST CHINA 🇵🇭

On July 12, 2016, the Philippines scored a victory against China in a landmark ruling by the Permanent Court of Arbitration that invalidated Beijing’s massive claims in the South China Sea.

The 501-page ruling was handed down in The Hague, Netherlands, more than three years after the case was filed by the Philippines in January 2013.
