Hello mga ka updates!
The Power of Chiropractic Care You cannot ignore

Health is often viewed through the lens of pain, activity, and overall well-being. But did you know that there is a hidden threat that can quietly undermine the body? It’s called “subluxations”. These misalignments in the spine disrupt the nervous system and may go unnoticed until they result in significant health issues.

The Hidden Impact of Subluxations

● Chronic Pain: Misalignments can lead to persistent discomfort, making everyday activities difficult.

● Reduced Mobility: A misaligned spine can restrict the range of motion, impacting physical activity.

● Nervous System Dysfunction: Subluxations can interfere with nerve signals, leading to issues such as digestive problems, fatigue, and mood disorders.

● Weakened Immune System: Poor spinal alignment can weaken the immune response, increasing susceptibility to illness.

At Form and Function Corrective Chiropractic, identifying and correcting subluxations to restore health and well-being is their priority. With a comprehensive assessment by Dr. Scott Jahn, an evaluation of the spine to pinpoint misalignments is minimum. Moreover, the clinic also offers Tailored Treatment Plans which include spinal adjustments and therapies such as cervical traction and Whole-Body Vibration Therapy (WBVT), and most importantly an Ongoing Education and Support where patients are empowered with the knowledge and tools necessary to maintain spinal health, including nutritional advice and holistic wellness techniques like EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming).

“By ensuring the body remains as subluxation-free as possible through chiropractic adjustments and adopting a sensible, wellness-oriented lifestyle, we can significantly enhance its natural restorative abilities.” - Dr. Scott Jahn

Unlock Full Health Potential

Addressing subluxations is the first step toward achieving optimal health. Visit Form and Function Corrective Chiropractic at Unit 907 Appleone-Equicom Tower, Cebu Business Park, or call 09176700907 to schedule a consultation. The journey to better health starts now.

Hello mga ka updates!

BIST: Unlocking and Empowering Batohanon Dreams

In the heart of Bato, Leyte, where access to higher education once seemed like a far-off dream, the Bato Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) has emerged as a gleaming beacon of hope and opportunity. As the sole Higher Education Institution (HEI) in Bato, Leyte, BIST has become a transformative force, empowering thousands of Batohanons to realize their dreams and thrive in careers both locally and abroad—whether as business leaders, seafarers, hoteliers and community workers.

Since its inception in June 1996 by a visionary Captain Ernesto S. Germano, BIST has been rooted in a powerful belief: that quality education is the key to unlocking a brighter future for every Batohanon”, regardless of their background. Captain Germano's legacy of hope lives on through BIST’s guiding principle— “Quality and Affordable Private Education within Your Means”—ensuring that the dreams of Batohanon youth are never limited by financial constraints.

BIST’s impact is profound, with its established programs in Business Administration (BSBA), Hospitality Management (BSHM), and Elementary Education (BEED), TESDA courses in Cookery NCII, Food and Beverage Services NC II, Housekeeping NC II, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC I, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) NC II serving as the foundation for a generation of graduates who have gone on to excel in diverse fields. For many, BIST has been the gateway to better opportunities and a brighter tomorrow—proving that quality education need not come with a heavy price tag.

But BIST is not resting on its laurels. As the world continues to evolve, so does BIST. In response to the rapidly changing landscape of higher education and the demands of the job market, BIST is proud to introduce two exciting new programs: Bachelor of Science in Information System (BSIS) and Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCrim). These programs are designed to equip students with the cutting-edge skills and knowledge needed to excel in the dynamic worlds of technology and public safety. Whether it is coding the future or ensuring justice, these new courses open up fresh avenues for personal and professional growth—furthering BIST’s mission of offering an education that prepares students for the challenges of tomorrow.

But at BIST, it’s not just about academic achievements. The school takes a holistic approach to education, emphasizing character-building, leadership, and social responsibility. “We strive to nurture not just competent professionals, but individuals who will make a difference in their communities and beyond,” says Alexa Erine Joyce G. Lecaros, Executive Vice-President of BIST. This vision goes beyond the classroom—encouraging students to grow as well-rounded individuals who will contribute meaningfully to society.

BIST is more than an institution of higher learning; it is a close-knit community. Its strategic location in the heart of Bato makes it the perfect choice for students not only from Bato but from neighboring municipalities as well. Families choose BIST because it offers the best of both worlds—academic excellence combined with affordability. This unique balance allows Batohanon students to pursue their higher education without the burden of leaving home or taking on crippling debt.

One of BIST’s most significant achievements is its ability to serve those who need it the most: underprivileged students. Many BIST scholars come from humble beginnings—sons and daughters of farmers, fisherfolk, and household workers. BIST is deeply committed to providing these students with the tools they need to rise above their circumstances and achieve lasting success. With the support of government scholarship programs like UniFAST and the generosity of private donors, BIST offers scholarship programs to deserving students, giving them the chance to pursue their dreams and build a better future for themselves and their families.

However, there is still much work to be done. To continue empowering more Batohanon youth, BIST is calling on compassionate individuals and business leaders to join its mission by investing in the education of these hardworking students. Your support can help turn dreams into reality, offering a brighter future to those who need it most.

As BIST continues to grow and evolve, it remains steadfast in its mission to be a beacon of hope—lighting the way for Batohanon youth and shaping the future of Bato, Leyte, one graduate at a time.

Collaborative Efforts Drive Regional Progress at Key Stakeholder Meetings in Cebu

CEBU, Philippines—February 6, 2025—The Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) hosted two (2) pivotal meetings that are set to drive the future of Cebu’s energy and academic-industry sectors.

Attended with over 30 key figures among industry players, stakeholders and policymakers, an update meeting on power highlighted collaborative efforts to address reliable, competitive and quality power for Cebu.

With a focus on sustainability and innovative solutions from power generation, transmission to distribution, a consensus was built to hold an in-depth discussion on the quality of power in Cebu as well as conduct information and education programs i.e. technical seminars as interventions to deepen and widen understanding on energy efficiency and management especially for manufacturers as well as consumers with big power requirements.

The Power Alliance is part of the broader Utilities Alliance, which also encompasses water and telecommunications.

Moreover, the 1st Stakeholders’ Meeting of the Academe-Industry Alliance brought together over 40 representatives from Cebu’s top universities, colleges, technical, and vocational institutions, alongside industry partners. The aim was to bridge the gap between academia and the business world by aligning educational programs with industry needs. The event spotlighted pathways for research, internships, and workforce development, emphasizing the vital role of education in producing a skilled, future-ready workforce capable of meeting the demands of an ever-evolving job market.

According to CCCI President Jay Yuvallos, “The purpose of these meetings is to develop a shared vision that aligns all sectors for mutual success. We must take a deep, introspective look at our industries and identify structural changes that will allow us to harness the power needed to create 40,000 jobs per year. This alliance is essential for that vision.”

Yuvallos further emphasized that CCCI is in the process of launching additional alliances focused on stewardship, sustainability, trade, and logistics—key components of the LEAD 2.0 x A-MUST agenda. The Cebu MICE Alliance, launched earlier this year, marked the first of these initiatives.

“These sectors are crucial to our progress,” Yuvallos concluded. “To move forward and stay on track, we must invest in these areas for a future-ready Cebu.”

Cebu MICE Alliance Continues to Strengthen Cebu's MICE Potential with Strategic Planning Workshop

CEBU, Philippines—January 27, 2025—Building on the success of its inaugural stakeholders’ meeting last year, the Cebu MICE Alliance reaffirms its commitment to enhancing the island province’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector.

Participated by over 50 industry players and stakeholders, CCCI organized the Cebu MICE Alliance Strategic Planning Workshop at the Savoy Hotel Cebu Mactan Newtown on January 22 (Wed), with support from Megaworld Hotels & Resorts.". The workshop covered four (4) comprehensive sessions, and was facilitated by Octavio "Bobby" Peralta, Founder & Volunteer CEO of the Philippine Council of Associations and Association Executives (PCAAE). Participants took part in a thorough SWOT analysis, crafted the Alliance’s purpose, mission, vision statements, core values and outlined key objectives, KPIs, and targets.

The governance structure for the Cebu MICE Alliance was also solidified during the workshop, with key bodies established to guide its operations. These include the Board of Directors, an Executive Committee (ExCom) led by the Chairperson, an Advisory Council, a Secretariat, and various Working Committees. These committees will focus on core areas such as marketing, infrastructure, training, sustainability, and policy advocacy. Each committee will take ownership of specific initiatives, such as organizing professional development programs, promoting sustainable MICE practices, and liaising with governmental agencies to shape supportive policies.

This governance framework aims to foster inclusivity, accountability, and efficiency, positioning the Cebu MICE Alliance as a dynamic, sustainable, and collaborative force in the region. The structure ensures that the Alliance will be able to fulfill its mission and long-term goals, reinforcing Cebu's standing as a premier MICE destination in Asia.

Expanding Beyond MICE

CCCI President Jay Yuvallos highlighted the Chamber’s ongoing work with various other alliances, including the Academe-Industry Alliance, the Utilities Alliance (power, water, and telecommunications), the Sustainability and Environment Stewardship Alliance, and the Trade and Logistics Alliance. These initiatives, collectively known as A-MUST, are central to CCCI’s LEAD 2.0 agenda for 2025.

Yuvallos emphasized the importance of building strategic partnerships in key sectors, stating, “If we want to attract investments ‘in paradise,’ sustainability and environmental stewardship are essential." He further expressed that the Chamber’s ongoing work and projects, in tandem with the Cebu MICE Alliance, would strengthen the business ecosystem across Cebu.

CCCI’s General Membership Meeting (GMM) on February 28 will set the stage for future discussions, with the Cebu MICE Alliance’s role as a focal point under the LEAD 2.0 x A-MUST theme. The GMM will explore the synergies between the various alliances and the shared vision for Cebu’s sustainable development.

“The need for a united MICE Alliance in Cebu is clear,” Yuvallos concluded. “With so many key players in the industry working in isolation, collaboration is crucial for realizing the full potential of Cebu’s MICE sector.”

As the Cebu MICE Alliance moves forward, the collective vision of its members will be key in driving sustainable growth and positioning Cebu as a global hub for MICE events.

PH's first 12-story medium-rise public school building: A Legacy for Cebuanos

Cebu City South District Representative, Congressman Edu Rama, championed the development of the Philippines’ first 12-story public school building in Cebu City, ensuring its place as a historic milestone and a lasting legacy for all Cebuanos.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the country's first 12-story academic public school building took place at Don Vicente Rama Memorial National High School in Barangay Basak San Nicolas on Thursday, January 30.

"Garbo kaayo ni nato nga mga Sugbuanon nga ang labing unang medium-rise public school building, 12-story with elevator ni ha, sa tibuok Pilipinas, gisugdan og tukod dinhi sa Sugbo (We Cebuanos take great pride that the first medium-rise public school building – a 12-story structure with elevators – in the entire Philippines will be built here in Cebu)," declared Congressman Rama.

The medium-rise school building will house 42 classrooms and nine workshop rooms dedicated to junior and senior high school students in the Cebu City South District.

"We are grateful to our National Government, under the leadership of President Marcos, that the first-ever Medium-Rise School Building will soon rise at Don Vicente Rama Memorial National High School to address classroom shortages and enhance learning opportunities for our students," said Congressman Rama.

According to the Department of Education, the medium-rise building will accommodate approximately 1,900 to 2,000 learners using the 42 classrooms in a single shift, plus an additional 450 learners who can utilize the nine laboratories/workshop rooms during one-hour science classes.

The groundbreaking ceremony was led by DepEd Secretary Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara, Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Manuel Bonoan, and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah “Mina” Flaminiano Pangandaman.

"We are deeply grateful to Secretary Angara and Secretary Bonoan for coming to Cebu City to lead the groundbreaking ceremony. We are grateful to the national government for its commitment to improving the the quality of education for our learners and the strides they’ve taken in addressing classroom congestion and shortages," added Congressman Rama.

The Cebuano legislator earlier revealed that his office had initially endorsed schools for consideration in the South District, including Don Sergio Osmeña Sr. Memorial National High School in Barangay Labangon, Tisa II elementary school and San Nicolas Elementary School in Barangay Duljo-Fatima.

"Following several inspections last year, DepEd and DPWH determined that DVRMNHS met the criteria for the medium-rise academic school building," the Congressman explained.

Based on the 2023-2024 enrollment, DVRMNHS has 4,878 students for the school year. Currently, there are 4, 490 students. Most learners come from Basak San Nicolas, Basak Pardo, and Quiot Pardo, with some from Barangay Poblacion Pardo, Bulacao Pardo, Kinasangan, Punta Princesa, and Mambaling.

Construction of the medium-rise academic school building is scheduled to run from March to December of this year, with 24-hour construction shifts.

"This will definitely address classroom shortages and hopefully end the need for classroom shifting that our students currently experience. We want our students to learn in the best possible environment, which is one of this administration's main objectives for education," added Congressman Rama.

According to DepEd data, Central Visayas ranks among the regions with the highest classroom shortages in the country.

The 12-story building will be constructed on the site of the current hearing-impaired building and a one-story, two-classroom building within DVRMNHS's 14,447-square-meter campus area.
