Tim's first gig was his Capital Dreams Sessions at La Madera which I helped out with in terms of basic sound engineering. But An Amaljam was where it all started. What was supposed to be an intimate bar gig turned into this monster of an event that we had difficulty containing but nevertheless enjoyed planning and executing and we were lucky enough to have pulled it off. With a lot of help from our significant others, the venue, sponsors, volunteers, bandmates, family, and friends, of course. That intimate bar gig idea never went away and I kept bringing it up when I could. We’re not that big and experienced a production yet and intimate bar gigs have always been something I personally enjoyed more than the big mechanical ones I’ve been to. So when the opportunity to hold one came, we immediately began planning. We realized early on that what we can not do in terms of scale we make up through studies and concepts. We want Noise Gate to be more than just a gig. We want it to become an avenue for our artists to connect, interact, and engage with their listeners outside the confines of their headphones. We want the music-hungry to discover “hidden” acts. We want it to be “a continual ecosystem where local artists, venues, and businesses get to work together”. We want it to be a full-on sensual experience - no barriers, no stage, no risers. Last Dec. 3’s Noise Gate became THE experience we were hoping it would be for everyone.
