Before the pandemic hit, we mostly spent our time in our offices, at schools, the malls and etcetera. Heck, those were the days when we did not have any of this dreaded virus and its variants. I would not say the house was tidier before the pandemic season, but I can certainly say we kind of just go home to cook dinner, sleep, bathe the next day, toast and off we work.
Well, it's different now. We spend our time inside the house, because 'Stay home. Stay Safe.' I'm just wondering, how organized is your house today?
Do our children clean up after playing with their made-up castles, forts, dungeons and the likes? Have you ever stepped on Legos? When was the last time you attempted to declutter and organize?
DECLUTTER.
Start organizing through these 5 steps.
1. Clear out the trash.
Look for things you don't need to use anymore say, old empty bottles, old magazines, old newspapers and so on. Reducing trash will help you appreciate open spaces.
2. Almost everything ends up in the kitchen!
Too may kitchen stuff, storage bins/boxes and drawers are overflowing with goods. Some products have expired, some haven't. And almost if not all the time, you can see laundry detergents just beside cooking ingredients? I mean, what a mess!
Start organizing things in storages, take out non-kitchen stuff and put it in their secured places.Put labels on storages, bins/bags and racks. Throw away expired goods. And laundry detergents must go to the laundry room or basement.
3. Ask your kids to organize their rooms.
Encourage them to clean up after they play, pile up dirty clothes and put them in laundry bins/baskets or plastic storage boxes. Teach them to put labels on bins/boxes so they know where to put this and that.
If they do not have storage boxes yet, racks and so on. I suggest using partition boards in drawers or folding board clothespins or modern drawer organizers. It's easier to teach your little ones with these modern organizing techniques. You can check out these items https://24-7-shop-city.myshopify.com/ for some really Artsy Minimalist products.
4. Donate unused items to charities/foundations or organize a Garage Sale.
If you have have unused items, pile them up and segregate which one goes to your Donation Drive or Garage Sale.
5. Now that you have decluttered and organized.
The goal is to maintain organization and cleanliness in one's home. Set a weekly schedule to declutter and organize the house. Make this an enjoyable family bonding.
